Honestly for the first real boss in the game why is he so hard to fight? I have no good weapons and I last 3 minutes max in there… why is there a boss this hard at the begining of the game? It had me concerned for how hard this game is going to be to solo it if it’s even possible while still having fun. I’m already more than frustrated at this point

Do you still have the Bullpup? If so, just follow him so closely that the gun is practically jammed in his ass. That’s how I always beat him at the start of the game.
What character are you playing as?

Hang in there, he really is a pain at first but IIRC he’s the steepest learning curve to overcome. Well… maybe having a CO-OP Clappy partner who hasn’t made a sacrifice to the RNG gods lately and has bad luck (routinely gets Rubber Ducky, Funzerker and a few others)
If worst comes to worst I’d suggest farming some chests for a shock weapon and if possible also a fire weapon, you likely won’t find either before him unless you do some farming because IIRC elemental effects on guns don’t start popping up until around levels 5-7.
Also this, some do have an easier time since either their action skill or lower tier skills can be helpful to have against him. Even if you don’t want them for the long run you can respec out of them fairly soon/easily.

I’m playing as the enforcer which I heard was good for soloing. I ended up beating him right after I made this post and it seemed easy. I think I just got lucky tbh. I didn’t have a sniper I just had a pistol and shotgun but he went down pretty quick.

Yeah I ended up beating him right after I posted this. It was funny he went down pretty quick and the tries I gave before that I couldn’t even get his shield down lol. He was a pain for one of the first bosses. Cool gun though. First time playing pre sequel I like the laser gun I got haha
Doesn’t that always happen? lol
Well congrats on the kill regardless
IMO a shotty and pistol combo would’ve been better than -insert gun type- and sniper, he generally moves too fast and a sniper’s true power is with crits and might be a bit tougher to get than on other enemies due to the awkward angles you’d be forced to use as well as it more than likely would be too close to ADS (aim down sights) with it.

There’s a green shock sniper you get as a side-quest reward from Janey very early on which will get you past Deadlift, especially on first play-through when you really don’t have anything else. You’ll find all the tactics etc. discussed in the TPS:Discussion sections. (The layout of the forums with separate Handsome Collection sections is a bit odd, but if it’s related to the actual gameplay rather than issues with the HC itself, or looking for co-op partners on XB1/PS4, you’re better off looking in the main game sections.)

Yeah, that green shock sniper made short work of him. I beat him about an hour ago. Literally like 30-40 seconds.

Even though you noted already having beaten Deadlift, I’ll leave this tidbit here since others may find it useful; This boss has two ways (that I’m aware of personally) in which his odd difficulty can be effectively bypassed. The first is simple yet not something you’ll have any true control over, and that’s just using a shock resistance shield. The second rather is much simpler as it doesn’t require any special equipment.
Deadlift is super susceptible to being stunlocked via groundslams. Keep behind cover and close in on his position, keeping tabs on his movement at all time but don’t actively worry about damaging him much initially. When you see him go and try to activate the shock floor consoles is when you’ll make your move. Just rush in and groundslam him then light him up.
Keep in very close range, juking his melee kick to prevent him from zapping you with his laser while fighting him. Continue to ground slam at appropriate intervals to keep him from appropriately moving or counterattacking. Once you get the range down it’s just a rinse and repeat situation.
This happens to work on any character, with any gear, on any playthrough. The only thorn in the side that can mess you up are the adds, but generally you can just ignore them and focus solely on ol’ Deadlift.
All in all, I honestly don’t understand why having a shock boss that early on happened to be a thing when shock is by far the most dangerous element
Can you help me beat bosun on TPS??
My GT is Leadchicken612
I got lucky in uvhmwith him. He was trying to turn on the ground electricity at one place, and I rolled pirate ship mode with rockets subroutine. My vladof glitch launcher glitches, and I unload a mix of rapid fire rockets, and cannon balls on him all to a classical tune. Gotta love clappy… Sometimes

I just want to throw my 2 cents in here as I never had any issues with Deadlift until UVHM which practically made me rage quit the game for a month, haha. I finally beat him last night which was such a good feeling, but I don’t think it should have been as hard as it was.
What I did was get to the very top section of the map (when looking at where you exit to the digistruct key, head up to the top left section) and just camp up there and chip away at his shield. Deadlift will never jump to that section AND he can’t electrify the floor there. The only enemy that will come up there are the melee psychos which are easily managed.
Once I got his shield down it was easy street after that, I had to do this as I couldn’t navigate the map without being downed within 2 seconds from Deadlift or the ads in the area so cheap, but effective.
