so, i noticed some fps drops while playing B3, i checked the forum for a solution.
the forum said to try dx12 instead of Dx11 and it is taking FOREVER to start the game, the problem starts with the dancing claptrap, it seems to just loop him.

so now i am wondering how to disable dx12 since i cant do it from the main menu and return to dx11

ini setting file in documents, otherwise it does load… just takes about 5-10min

You need to manually change the PreferredGraphicsAPI=DX12 to =DX11 in the GameUserSettings .ini file in your Documents\My Games\Borderlands3\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\ folder.

Here are the steps I used to change back to DX11:

  1. Open notepad++
  2. Go to File menu, choose Open
  3. Paste:%userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 3\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini and click ok
  4. Go to Search menu, choose Find
  5. Search for DX12
  6. You’ll see the line that says PreferredGraphicsAPI=DX12
  7. Change it to PreferredGraphicsAPI=DX11
  8. Save the file and re-launch game

I don’t know if DX12 is working as it’s supposed to. I set it to DX12 and the game opened, showed the Claptrap animation and stayed on that animation while allocating a ton of ram and then exited of it’s own accord.

i am half an hour in now :slight_smile:

Is there a fix yet for this issue if you’re already on DX11?

same here, DX12 loads up to dancing Claptrap with intense stuttering … and nothing else happens.
DX12 completely borked for me.
