[E3 2015] Battleborn Trailer, Details, and More

That seems to be a problem with many gamers today. If a game has any similarity to one that is already out, or is in development alongside it then somehow that invalidates any reason to like it. Kinda depressing to see how jaded the gaming community can be.

Oh, just wait until a few weeks before Battleborn comes out and Gearbox reveals they already have ideas for DLC characters to be released later, and the Internet predictably flips out and says, ā€œThey cut there characters out just to charge us! Boycott this game!ā€ Ugh.

Yes, I’m still bitter about how Evolve got treated, why do you ask?

Games that dont want to be grouped in with the rush there are plenty as well as when you go to gamestop the preorder is for Fall 2015 thats why im guessing its coming when i said

i read an interview that Gearbox doesn’t have plans for DLC yet, they are focussed on finishing the game. i think 2k learned from their Evolve approach.

DLC Characters:
The character roster is already overwhelming but if they do DLC characters that’s going to be a lot of work. Not only designing, it’s 100 man weeks per character and it’s only fair if the do one for each faction. Then everything needs to be balanced.

DLC Multiplayer Maps / game types:
A current trend seems to be that Multiplayer maps are free (Evolve, Titanfall, Halo5) because they don’t want to split up their community. If this will also be the case for Battleborn is yet to be seen. Adding more maps currently seems more likely to me.

DLC Story Missions:
I can see this happen there is always a (side) story to tell.

Then there is skins/outfits this is something that was also done with Borderlands.I don’t really care for this, but if it’s makes someone happy it’s fine by me.

They still got months. A season pass will happen, and I’ll love it.

yeah it’s also kinda a rule to not discus DLC before the game is (almost) released. I’m sure that they got systems in place that will allow them to add a buttload of content.

Is it? Most games announce a season pass about a month before the game comes out (see: Arkham Knight). And then gamers lose their mind, because many gamers still can’t act like adults…

This gives the impression that DLC is extra content and adds to the game. Midway the previous console cycle there were some games that cut content out of the main game to sell it as DLC.

And yes i have seen a game that has a total of 15 missions but mission 14 is missing and sold as DLC. Also DLC that’s already is on the disc and you only buy a key to unlock the content is ā€˜not done’

Nah.

Great input.

I’m sick of fighting about this on every damn message board involving games.

Then don’t bring up it up then. lol

Nah.

I love AC2 but that really was atrocious.

HAHAHA i thought i’ll be respectful and don’t name the game. +10 points for you mister at winning this guessing game

You had some of the facts wrong though.

Sequence 13 and 14 were missing, and there was 18 total not 15 (I think)

Hey, so apparently I have two accounts on our forums :joy:

Let’s just say it’s using Unreal tech. We’ve rewritten and added a lot of systems for this project. We follow Epic’s UE4 development closely and have access to that engine as well. Perhaps at some point myself or another engineer will ask for permission to share some of our experiences while developing Battleborn.

Yeah, thanks for the kind words. Personally, my mentality is to always consider myself the underdog which means I pour everything into what I’m involved in whether it’s a video game, sports, education, and etc.

I was reminding some of our newer folks a couple of weeks ago that we’ve been in a similar situation in the past with previous titles. We just have to keep pushing ahead as a team and building towards our project’s vision.

Personally I don’t think anyone has the right to judge the game before a month after release. All of the hype for Destiny was unbelievable but a month later and the game severely failed to keep its fan support. As long as the game has a good amount of replay ability and can keep us interested for a long time with any if at all dlc being released reasonably I think the game will do just fine and will become another fan favorite.

I think its hard for Gearbox to get anywhere right now because of Borderlands being such a good game. We all want another Borderlands and our feelings are going to get in the way of our judgement. I mean we got TPS and it didn’t live up to what we wanted it to be and with some of Gearbox’s previous titles that weren’t great some have become skeptical but what they don’t realize is that Gearbox creates good games … don’t believe me then watch the video Battleborn: Can Gearbox Deliver Another Gem?

So if anything I say don’t compare this game to other games, Its not. Lets give it the respect it deserves as a new ip and not compare it to previous titles or even other developer titles that are coming out.
