El Dragón nearly unplayable

Maybe they just nerfed his starting health and not his later health so that once you get to lvl 10 you would still have the same health as before patch. Just a guess as some didn’t notice the difference.

When they nerf health it’s to overall health. They didn’t notice because he’s already really big and squishy and that 130- just isn’t a big enough impact when he already dies in few seconds until higher levels. It’s honestly not a huge nerf and shouldn’t impact him to much. I’m just upset they reverted the dragon fire dot’s as it was finally usable and they took it back down to his worst helix choice…

Orendi also took an HP hit, 830.

Master of El Dragon from way before the patch. I honestly understand the health nerf. He does so much damage once he gets levels. I’d much rather them nerf his health than his damage. He just takes more awareness to do well with I feel. It’s still the same old, stun, do work, clothesline out…but now it takes more maneauvarbilitivy and awareness.

That said, I’ve always run El Dragon with Max health gear. I usually run shard gen, wrench, and attack speed/max health.

It’s not like he really needs any more damage. I would just stack as much health as possible.

He’s still a monster IMO.

Then ninja nerfs are ridic though. I don’t get the point.

I agree. El Dragon is squishy but yet very powerful specially once he gets his ultimate and speed attack boost. The health nerf went unnoticed simply because I’m still owning with him with 0 to a few deaths.

Don’t know if any of you have had this issue but I’m having it with him and phoebe, When I activate clothesline any little amount of damage cancels the skill for me, I’m not talking about stuns, silence OR slows. Last night I would wait for the enemy team to unload their abilities on our tank then get ready to rush in with clothesline but a simple bullet from oscar mike would stop me before I even got in and hit people, and with the smaller health pool you get nuked fast.

Another problem I have encountered as well is with his dragon splash, this one happened to me a few times in a course of 3 matches. I would activate it be in the air ready to hit the ability down but somehow the enemy would be shooting this invisible box it felt that was left in the position from where I activated the splash. A toby and marquis killed me while shooting bellow me while i was in the air. Frustrating as i never had these issues before the patch.

That’s not a change, is it?

I will be happy to answer both of your questions. :grinning: [quote=“Accursius13, post:28, topic:1542072”]

It could be either the terrain as sometimes it just knocks you out of Clothesline for no reason or your hitting something with your outstretched arms. When you press the button say next to a wall and his arm hits it even a little bit it cancels the ability.

His hitbox is below him… he may jump into the air but his hitbox stays on the ground and always has. I really don’t understand why the devs did that but hey it’s a gearbox game.

I double checked on the whole wall thing with clotheslines since it was my first thought but even out in the open i would go up against marquis and his first little pop shot would stop me in my tracks.

Ah ok, I thought it had changed but maybe it’s because of his smaller health that the invisible hit box is more noticeable now. hmm looks like its back to the drawing board for me with this character. thanks for the insight though

To new El Dragon players, my advice to counteract his low health pool is to invest in items that give health like the Symbiotic Gauntlet or vests that give an extra 210 health for staying alive for 2-3 minutes. Also pick Heavyweight at Rank 5. Although Uncanny sounds appealing, the 30% damage reduction at max stacks is too good to pass up. you should be around 2000 health.

Would just like to note, El Dragóns base health now sits at 983.:grin::grin::grin::grin:

Maybe it’s the extra health, but I want to add that I’m having a much better time with El Dragon lately. I think I did just need to get used to him. If an opponent team has their strats together, he’s completely useless. Like the game I just played, where Kleese, Isic, Reyna and Miko pushed in unison while Pendles landed killing blows where he could. I would clothesline into that clusterfuck and be dead before En Fuego could even begin executing. But, just to add the complaint somewhere else, is just because matchmaking is completely ■■■■■■ right now.

As a missile that can get a kill or two and retreat expeditiously, he’s very capable and fun right now.

Please fix matchmaking.

Wait what?

I bv een shooting him in the air. No wonder I had so much trouble killing him :stuck_out_tongue:

Bro, have you tried stacking Damage reduction on him?

I wanted to try it out as a test and did it against a 5man last night… came up with 12% DR with gear.

and my philosophy is DR is only good on characters that have it naturally ie… (EL Dragons 30%, Boulder 50%, etc.)

So basically overall I wasn’t taking any damage When I tried this build it felt like as I has 42% DR with full stacks. Try it out.

Yeah I kinda feel the same way about DR. Only really run it on Montana. Will def try on Dragon though. Don’t have much good DR gear so got some grinding to do.

Hmmmm I always felt like the extra dam reduction you could run on him was not as good as say increasing the health pool of el dragon by like 600-650

I was simply just trying the build out, but honestly the best el dragon build is

Shard generator, Buildable cost and the 3rd can be what ever you choose but the 1st two are staple imo. if you do everything right you will reach level 5 in 4min.

While everyone else is lvl 2-3. Level is to important to El dragon

I see everyone going the full bob the builder route and I just don’t think it’s very good. Rather I don’t think it’s very necessary. I prefer just stacking some health then AS AD. You can level up at a reasonable rate past level 2. At level 3 you get insane lane clear capabilities and at lvl 4 you should be getting a kill or 2 here and there

Its for early push power. That’s why Orendi does it as well. If im Level 5 and the enemy team is level 2-3 they are going to get DEMOLISHED that early into the game placing your team at a massive advantage as they will get some damage on the sentry or even take it down. Think of it as a blitz play in football but with less Cons to it.

Not to mention it puts El Dragon out of the line of sight for the enemy as he is a big target.
Characters like El dragon and Orendi offers the team more benefits as they level up and they both have OHKO Ultimate’s.

Yes its preference but in competitive / tournament play a rushed Orendi and Dragon instantly puts the other team at a disadvantage causing the enemy team to slowly level up. And Orendi and Dragon Does better when the enemy team are all cramped together and this happens when the enemy team is Cramped under their sentry so I normally get Double and triple kills causing them to even level up slower.

I am willing to cecede to the argument on it being the most effective competitive tactic
