Emotions Are Running Too High

Update to add FOV slider and 60fps play on consoles? Can’t wait!
:sunglasses:

Brevity is the soul of wit.
Fewer words make it easier to read and understand.

You say ā€œI was about to post telling people to just play other games while GBX work more on BB but then @Ganjamira beat me to it in one of his/her replies (still not sure of this guy’s gender haha) to a recent post.ā€

I would agree. But these were changes that made things worse for some to benefit others.
That’s not right.
It is better to take your time and fix things so all benefit. Or at least none are harmed. (using you doctor analogy).

GBX chose to change things to benefit PVP at the expense of PVE.

Yes, emotions run high. That is the gaming community.
I have seen few resort to expletive laden tirade, name calling, etc.

We speak our minds, but with passion.

I respect your opinion (and typing skills); however, we will continue to express our displeasure.

Would you rather people just rage quit and never return?
I have seen those who did.

Understand for every person who was FURIOUS about Alani, Ambra, Galilea (etc) being over powered, or someone having gear that made them too hard to beat, there are now those who are FURIOUS that these changes came with unintended consequences to the PVE community. (similiar to the Cane Toad in Australia or Kudzu in Georgia)

Just to clearify, my mentioned post there was directed to a member who (it seemed to me that way) sounded very bored & frustrated with BB in general. So I said that I switch games when I bored with game X.
I never ment to say ā€œIgnore the problems and do somehing elseā€.

I agree with you - don“t stop the feedback!
Its important fo GBX to see all perspectives, but theres a difference between negative feedback and rage posts. Thats why I also agree with the OP.

Many changes in the Battleplan were…harsh and very surpising for me. Personally IĀ“m quiet sad about ā€œMossires Mukluksā€ and some of Alanis changes seem still very hard to me, as I play mostly PvE as well. I can totally understand the dissappointment of many gamers.

But I don“t understand why their dissappointment seems to entitle some to insult other members for their opinion or perspective. And that happened alot in the last 48-72hours.

Feedback = Totally needed!
Flaming and insulting GBX/other players/fellow members = Not constructive at all.

Love the positive message here. I’m right there with you. I too have been playing other games; GTA has had some major updates, Doom came out, I got Witcher 3, etc. The distance from the game really helped me gather even more enjoyment on the occasions when I jumped back in.

I’ve also just been trying to stay away from the forums. This is kind of my first big leap into a dedicated forum for a major game release, so I have little other experience with online game forums. But this one seems…overwhelmingly negative. I feel really bad for @JoeKGBX some days, because he has to swim through/manage the river of crap that is this forum. I mean, if ever there were damning evidence of how entitled gamers are these days…

But there I go being negative too. That’s not why we’re here. I love the game, have been enjoying it, and I know for a fact GBX plan to continue to support it, as best they can, despite 2K and Take Two’s meddling. I actually live very close to where GBX’s main office is, in Texas, and have playtested for them before. (It was purely volunteer work, I wasn’t paid or anything.) When you actually meet the people who work on these games, and see how much they care about their product, and making sure that people enjoy it, and want them to continue experiencing it, then it kind of puts all these other misgivings to rest. :stuck_out_tongue:

Look, let’s assume I could tell you EVERYTHING that we have in the hopper that’s coming up – would you really want that? One big info dump and then … nothing. Something tells me that wouldn’t go over well. Now don’t get me wrong, I know that’s not what you meant. Taking things from one extreme to the other does not a good analogy make. I just want to encourage you guys to be patient and enjoy the ride. We’re only 7 weeks out from launch. There’s still a ton of info to share. Issues are being talked about and worked on everyday here. Activities and events are being planned and discussed (one of the big things on my to-do list today as a matter of fact). People are working hard on things that we’re excited to share with you guys, but it’s imperative that we have a plan in place for sharing that information.

I know it’s tough to wait – believe me, I’ve been there – but we firmly believe it’ll be worth it.

We definitely want to increase the player counts. We have a lot of fun with Battleborn, and know there are a number of fans who are also having a good time with the game. We want to get that same experience to more people.

The ā€œget more playersā€ thing is a hard one to address in communication, though, because (as you’ve pointed out) promises are just air and words until they happen. So, we’re trying very hard not to over-promise. That said, we still need to communicate, and are trying to find the balance between active, interesting communication and developing expectations for things we want to do, but may be a long time in coming.

Every game on the planet wants ā€œmore playersā€. Every game has to find it’s own path to doing that. Sometimes bad games get lots of players. Sometimes good games have few players. Sometimes, games get what they deserve.

The most I can really tell you folks now is that we’re still committed here. While our communication isn’t always perfect, we are working every day on updates to the game. We hope every update and every decision we make benefits and entertains you in some way.

We’re still committed to all of the content we’ve promised - more maps, more modes, the mission content in the seasons pass, more characters. Those are all in progress and coming as fast as we can get them to you. While we’re doing that, we are spending effort addressing other issues - balance, matchmaking, leaving, cheating, performance (to name a few) - have constant ongoing efforts. We’re trying to find ways to communicate more details about that do you, but we want to do so when we are confident in the changes we can bring to the game because (again) we don’t want to set wrong expectations for you. I hate being disappointed as much as everyone else, so for now, we err on the side of slower information over wrong information or misleading time frames.

So…TLDR - we’re still here. We’re still working. We still believe in Battleborn. We have lots of ways we can improve, both in the game and in our communication with you folks.

And as always - thanks for your support. Keep talking to us.

Hey man I read your whole reply and your ideas are sound! I really love the game for the humor too. From Attikus saying ā€˜I have no idea how to express himself’ to Boldur talking to a computer (was it a acomputer that he was talking to at the experiment?). I usually giggle at jokes in a game. But BB really makes me laugh multiple times! I love this game too man. This is the first ever forum that i have been active in. I genuinely want to see this game fly.

See the replies below! @Jythri is actually reassuring us again that they are hearing us. And I am starting to believe that. The latest battleplan seemed like they completely ignored our feedback saying that we don’t want anymore nerfs. I can’t explain why they did that. You actually convinced me that nerfs are bad for the game. Please bring the buffs GBX! In Dota 2, whenever I see buffs, I actually get hyped and wanting to play the heroes with the buffs. Nerfs don’t really make me wanna play more just because one hero or 2 got weaker. @shaman.wulf really makes a good point about nerfs destroying pve too.

Anyway, I saw your other post man! Please don’t go! Maybe help me up my command rank? Haha.

Just an idea maybe you guys could show off a little bit of the new stuff you have been working on…maybe a few screenshots of a new map or mission, or a video showing off a new character a little bit. Just a little something to show the doubters that you guys are working on some really cool things that they should stick around for.

Keep up the good work I’ve been a fan of this company for years, you guys have made games that I spent hours upon hours playing and I can still go back and play them and have just as much fun as before. So I have faith in you guys

We have things in the works that aim to scratch this specific itch and we’re hoping to share more about that very soon.

Awesome…i know the game hasn’t been out very long but people seem to be very impatient for some reason(more so than usual) and this would be nice so those people could at least see what your working on…on a separate issue was the issue of the bug where alot of shepards show up discussed this morning? Sorry I know it don’t belong here but I’m on my phone and its being kind of slow, it would take like 10 min to find the page where you commented on it earlier

@JoeKGBX Thank you both for jumping in here. We all really appreciate it.

The team was aware as I thought they would be and it’s a top priority for investigation today. I’m keeping up on that process and will keep you guys updated. I think the aim is to have a quick fix in as soon as possible.

First of all, I’m glad that you jumped there to respond and I appreciate that and I like you didn’t jump the gun with my comment.

Yes, I didn’t meant I want to know everything you guys have in storage for us, just information in general.

In our situation, mine in particular 'cause obviously I only can speak for myself, you can understand we are a little tense with all this matter.

The game we wanted to support isn’t doing ok, people is playing less and less, still we doesn’t have any information, solid one, in new content and even if that was according to a schedule, a game with no microtransactions in the beginning, now asking money so little after release and without even given an already paid content like dlcs, you can get we are tense, at least, about it.

Also, the radio silence is what hurted most with the T2 skins debacle, because people was getting their hopes high, asking questions and making theories about these skins in particular and after that silence the only response came after a leak, asking for more money on a game where we paid a lot, at least in my case.

It’s tough only not knowing, but also this, for the silence involved in it, looked like an attempt to milk the cow before it dies and I know Gearbox has zero do to with marketing and sales, but still this is a Gearbox baby and is gonna look bad for Gearbox in the end.

I want to believe the game is gonna worth my money and time, I’m playing it even when I have queues for half hour now but I really, really, want to start to see the value of my money and not another attempt to pull more money from me.

Then promote the special sales of this game. You want more people playing? Tell them when the game has a 40% - 60% discount from the regular price.

They said from the start that there would be premium skins and taunts. If you don’t want to spend money you don’t have to. These skins have been showing up on bots since early access so gearbox clearly pocketed them to keep a steady stream of post- launch content. They will continue to keep all gameplay changing content free.

I’m starting to get tired of repeating myself.

  1. I don’t mind to buy skins, but I thought those ā€˜premium skins’ as you call them, will be T3 skins, not the ones we saw on bots on beta.

  2. People made a crap lot of threads about those beta skins, asking for when, where and etc. Even asking if they were about to come in packs because people weren’t opening them just in case. They said zilch until the leak.

  3. And, and this is my personal opinion, those skins are overpriced for what they are. In my opinion they should be part of the basic game as this isn’t a free to play game and some variety in costumization is something everyone could expect.

And I don’t have a problem, never said so as I recall, about if the changing content is gonna be free or not… I said I want info on my already paid content, aka my season’s pass.

I’m starting to get tired of defenders of the microtransactions that speaks to us, people that are against not microtransactions but these skins in particular, like if we are people in the street asking for coin without reading what we are actually saying.

Edit: TLDR? Your choice.

Firstly, good on you for being optimistic…
While some may see the glass half empty, someone has to see it half full, right?

As I’ve said before, I have put BB down for now, only because of the issues Australians are having with the game (matchmaking times, disconnects, lag, etc - there’s a thread on it)…

I preordered BB before its original February release date, because it’s a gearbox game, and I love everything to do with borderlands…
So that’s all it took to make me preorder it, I didn’t even know anything about it, didn’t care, haha…

Recieved an email about the beta being available, so I played it, and loved it, and didn’t regret my preorder made under no assumptions…
because, if I like a game, the way it looks, a particular franchise, or the companies that makes it…
I care not for reviews, I’ll make my own when I pay my money and put the discs in my console to play it…

I even started commenting on this forum when I played the beta, normally don’t care for this stuff, no regrets there either, lovely bunch of folks here…

Played BB pretty much non stop for 3 weeks from May release…
No regrets, happy and very much in love…
Other than it slowly getting worse in service and eventually, failing on me completely all of a sudden, Aussie player base pretty diminished…
(But, you are looking into this for Australians, right @JoeKGBX?)

While I currently can’t play the game to its full capacity…
I don’t let all the negativity get to me (anymore)…
It was getting to me, only because I found myself in that box, the disappointment box…

But, I don’t regret my purchase…
Because like everything in life, everything is a risk…
And every player is taking a risk when purchasing a game…
Will it, or won’t it be all we expect?
(Appreciation, over expectation!)

Most of the time, it’s not what we expected (good or bad)…
And not always because it’s good, or because it’s bad (okay, some are good, and some are awful…)…
But souly because we didn’t create it…
We don’t know all the processes, all the thought that goes into it, or where all that thought is constantly going…
But we ā€˜think we do’, and heck, we all like to think ā€˜we are right’…

As consumers, we are an entitled bunch…
Expecting if we fork out some cash…
Suddenly we have more power and brains than the people whom actually made or make the product…
ā€œI payed this much moneyā€, blah blah blah…
Hey, even I’ve barked such things on this forum (and probably will below, figures)…

We all want to recieve ā€˜what we paid for’…
But in this ā€˜throw our money at almost anything’ society, it’s a fine line between knowing, and assuming, what we are actually paying for…
Nothing is that transparent anymore, under the fine print, there more fine print…

Yes, BB needs some more work…
And maybe it would be nice if ALL gaming companies didn’t try to rush their games out the door because they need to constantly compete with each other, have set profit margins, deadlines, etc…

It would be nice if the companies themselves had a little pep talk amongst staff to remind one another about ā€˜why do we make games’, and didn’t insist on the answer being ā€˜money’…
(I’m sure, deep down, this isn’t the case… But gotta make those dollars)

I know ā€˜release dates’ push this too…
Screw it, don’t give anyone any (as if!), or just give an estimate, ā€˜Spring 2016’ for example, not a month and day that is too detailed to stick to…
Announce those finer details when it is ā€˜fully’ ready…

If a game takes longer than expected, then just keep the hype train before release going…
Rather than half selling a half made, under prepared, just gotta get it out the door game…
That consumerist are paying full price for, and only getting half their monies worth…

Give me back the days, where I paid $100 for a PlayStation game, recieved 2 discs of content (only because, games didn’t store the way they do now), sometimes even more discs, interchanged them, ā€˜GOT’ my monies worth in a complete package, and didn’t need any of this DLC shiz, haha… (Eek, showing my age here)

Basically, after this long butt rant…
My conclusion is…
We all just want what we paid for…
And everyone has a different view on what that is…
Some word it a little harsh, but we certainly can be blunt when it comes to money, haha…

But we can ā€˜choose’ how to spend our money…
We don’t need to buy these micro transaction thingies…
But getting the efficiency and full content we expected, at the very least, I think is all we mainly ask…

I paid $99.95 for BB (standard preorder disc)…
I bought a $70 PS+ subscription just to be able to play it (thankfully shares between accounts on the one console - couch co op)…
Then I’m expected to buy a season pass of $29.95 or individually buy content which I don’t know it’s individual prices yet…
and have to buy TWO season passes because of couch co-op, so round that up to $60 as things don’t share between everyone on the same console for some reason (they used to)…
And then theres this new micro/platinum stuff on top of that (once again, couch co op, so two of everything)…

Those dollars all add up…
But, I haven’t gotten to the season pass, and further transactions yet, times two, because of the issues mentioned above…
But still, even what I’ve paid thus far, is a lot, for what I ā€˜used’ to be able to get in a game (original PlayStation, or even ps2 days… Maybe even ps3 a little!)…

I’m glad devs/game companies are ā€˜sticking by their games’…
But please, ā€˜stick by your consumers’…
We all have heaps of praise to give, and it’s worth its weight in gold!

The gaming expos of the year are soon to begin (e3 I’m not really counting, as it’s mainly ā€˜new stuff’)…
Set up your booth gearbox at whatever one is available, pump out BB, convince more players to buy it, do all you can…
There’s no need to just stick to word of mouth, or social media… Even though that’s free…
Please wisely use the dollars that players are continuing to pump into BB…

And, make it work for Australians!
I want to play BB again and buy all these lovely things other players are buying, I too have money to invest… Please @JoeKGBX!

(Sorry, this was quite the ramble, and I had no idea where it was going, or would end up, haha)
