Wait… 5 years of hardcore farming, and you’ve never found one?! Damn.

I’ve never found a single blue or legendary Eridian gun during my hundreds (and hundreds) of hours with BL1.

I’ve found 1 Blue Fireball.
But yeah Firebomb, Stampeding Splatter Gun and Mega Cannon might as well not exist.
But I have found 5 Reapers.

Well, I learned two things today - that Eridian weapons can actually come in other than green rarity, and that there are multiple elements. So I went and did some more BL1 and, although I didn’t find anything rarer than purple today, I did find both a fire and corrosive Eridian rifle - one fireball and one glob.
I’ve owned the game since it came out, and honestly, I can’t say I’ve ever found a blue or legendary eridian weapon
OK, well here’s my beginner question (just started the game, a real late-comer!) – Are these green Eridian guns even worth using? Found 3 in my PT1 end game (final mission @ level 35) yesterday – should I save or sell?

They can be usefull, but personally I’ve decided to skip on those.
Can’t talk about blue and orange eridians though.

They’re worth experimenting with at least. Some of the cannons can be very effective if you can compensate for the slow projectile speed. Some of the SMG and AR types are also quite good.
The biggest disadvantage is the recharge time, which always seems much longer than a gun reload. Weapon proficiency can compensate for that, but it takes a while to build up. (Hint: take an enemy’s health down with a regular weapon, then finish it with an eridian one; the killing shot determines which proficiency the XP counts towards.)
I’ll also add that you can go a while before finding another decent one, so you can out-level them fairly quickly. Well, the green variants at least - I’ve personally never seen any other rarity, and always thought that green was a bit misplaced for how often you come across any of them in the game.

yeah i’m using that trick to currently improve my launcher skill and to an extent eridian though not sure of the value of that if you can’t get the weapons to match.
odd that eridian weapons don’t have more variation as they can be fun but not so much if they don’t have the firepower

I’ve always wondered why they are listed as green rarity, since they seem to drop much less often than greens from other manufacturers. And I’ve never seen a single legendary version, although others have confirmed that they do legitimately exist in the game.
On the proficiency, the biggest thing for the eridian weapons is the better energy/recharge boost. There are a few I actually really like using, but waiting for the thing to recharge in a mobbing situation is perilous, to say the least!

For the same reason the Reaper is as rare as a Pearl.
Unfortunate parts combination. Eridian weapons are even more restrictive. Thunderstorm barrel can only have either certain scopes and or bodies. And that’s just an example.

I recently started going through Borderlands again, determined to find Pearls because I never did when playing the first time(s). When I saw a photo of the Luck Cannon, I started paying attention to the Eridian weapons. I found a blue Fireball last week, and kept it out of curiosity. Glad I did as it’s so rare, but I haven’t used it yet. I’m having so much fun with my newly maxed Mordi and finally the skillz to vanquish Crawmerax. One month back, taking Mordi from 1-69, I’ve found 5 Pearls and this blue Fireball. Not bad considering I only had half a dozen Orange from my original campaigns. I’ll spend some more time running Knox to see of I can come up with more Eridian goodness.

The Luck Cannon is in BL - the Pre-Sequel i think?
there is the Eridian Cannon though…
My fave is the lightning - a good one has 831 damage which isn’t bad, but it could do with a better scope…

The Fireball is fun. Eridian Cannons can be awesome, but the projectile speed is slow so you either need to take your targets completely by surprise or lead them well. (The splash radius isn’t too bad though.) The Thunder Storm is another one of my personal favourites. I once stormed the route up to the final boss using an Eridian Lightning sniper to take out virtually everything (unless they got too close). Good times, great times!

So many of the games and DLC’s, I can’t keep them straight anymore.
At any rate, I’m farming for the Orange Eridian, and are there first playthrough Pearls?
There are none in BL2 (outside of the Tina slots in Dragon Keep), but I hink, hope, it’s not the same in BL.

As far as I know, you can get pearls in DLC3 during any playthrough.

I’ve been running Knox PT1, occasionally seeing legendaries as low as 31.
I have also been running the Robolution chest room on a level 17 character. While the guns are levels 4-18, I’ve not been able to procure any legendary weapons. A lot more white gear than I would see at higher level. Is there a function that makes legendary gear unavailable or more rare at lower level? I think 15 is the lowest level orange gun I’ve found so far.

Also, I’d you haven’t guessed, this is a thing of mine.
In BL2, I collected the lowest level of each gun I could possible find. I have more orange weapons between level 6-10 than most people have Max level.

i managed to get an orange ‘mega-cannon’ recently which is great.
also built up my collection and found that even when the specs look the same there are differences - eg i had two eridian lightnings which were seemingly identical specs-wise and almost looked the same, but one recharged twice as quickly as the other
i set myself the target of getting my eridian proficiency up to 50, and managed it last week, after playing quite a few maps with only eridian weapons
i might post my collection later but it included two thunderstorms, two lightnings, a flaregun, the mega-cannon, wave blaster and blaster, plus i used the ball-blaster a bit though it’s tricky
in heavy battles you have to keep circulating the weapons as they run out of charge, but normally i just about got away with it - obviously, the more your proficiency increases, the easier it gets…
worth doing IMO if you need a new challenge in single player, and in terms of getting eridian weapons there’s always a good selection in the farmoury - as i say it’s worth picking up all the ones with the best specs and comparing them in practice
