Mind you not all these damage boost are applied consistently throughout the fight as the power inside only applies for 15 seconds after you use gamma burst or any action skill. Then you’re reduced to 238% and if you’re moving 213%. Right away you’ll have insane burst dps right off the bat but between the use of AS and your character moving your total % will generally be closer to 200% idk for me power inside may not be worth it unless you’re guaranteed to have full health for the full 15 seconds each time otherwise the value tapers off. Hidden machine is also situational too if you’re using gamma burst if the pet doesnt pull aggro you lose another 30%. Hidden machines synergy with fade away and its augments were strong but with gamma burst it drops off. The start of the fight will surely start off strong if you have the drop but you can have a lot of damage drop off as well up to 135% from turn tail and run, hidden machine, the power inside, and the fast and the furryous
I for one prefer the stacking skills because they stack fast and are generally full as long as you’re firing the whole time and your pet hits enemies and he bites synergizes with frenzy really well because reflected damage counts as the pet attacking.
I feel this build would work considerably better with fade away or gitm plus augments. You could start the battle of fill up your stack skills then trigger fade away at full health and you have the optimal boss killing setup with unblinking eye and not my circus for after the 3 shots to keep hidden machine, the power inside, and the fast and the furious rolling( of course to get the most out of the power inside you have to get your three shots off quick so you can go full auto after

So the cutsman nerf didn’t hurt me much, In fact I picked up an new fire one to go with my corrosive while testing some builds tonight. What I’m happy to report is that my tanky build isn’t necessary anymore, but with it my pet only died once during 5 rounds on TVHM M3 “SS”. So now I have been experimenting. I tried a build that included the power within, but ultimately decided that skill wasn’t worth the points to get it as it only last 15 seconds and I like to extend gamma burst to its max so it’s up time isn’t worth the damage I could gain in other skills. I’m still experimenting to find the “optimum” but I’m just thrilled I can experiment more whereas before I had to go tanky to have High wins.

I think persistence hunter with empathic rage outweighs the usefulness of the power inside since it stays on the entire duration of gamma burst. Mainly since if you goof up and take damage the 50% drops to 25% and without cloak or proper aggro skills that can happen easily
I hear your concern with taking damage affecting the damage boost of power inside but the build is designed in such a way that you don’t take damage. Your pet is drawing the aggro with the red fang mod, wearing the stop gap shield provides you with a 5 second invincibility window on break allowing you to get out of harms way or trade damage (while retaining the 50% damage boost from power within) and kill whatever you need to, and then all the different Health Regen sources you’re getting from different skills + your pet from who rescued who. Taking these into consideration, the power inside is an amazing investment in my experience

Hmm didnt see it that way. The only thing that sucks is that its 15 seconds. I guess I havent had a good red fang mod to date so i cant remember its effect. If it makes the pet pull aggro efficiently that will negate so of the side effects. But idk persistence hunter on top of gamma bursts lengthy duration limits the uptime of the power inside
I would like to see the damage formula for the 288% though I’m curious I watched demonites video I’ll have to write down the v1 and t2 and do the math
Also I cant quite use this setup anyways yet because if I do have a red fang it doesnt have the % boosts my bounty hunter has
Great to hear man, the cutsman doesn’t seem to have been nerfed too much and still melts from the testing I did this morning. The health buff of the pets opening up some more damage options in pet builds is a big positive for sure

Yeah the build doesn’t abuse the power inside anywhere near what my rakk build did, proccing a new cooldown with every rakk launch. But I’ve found the 50% burst for 15 seconds can be huge. I tend to run with atomic aura + empathic rage > endurance so I’m not prolonging gamma burst outside of the persistence hunter skills extension. I also feel little draw back in picking up power inside given how desirable the later dps skills in the stalker tree are for flak, once you’ve spec’d into most of them you’ve unlocked the capstone so it’s always tempting. If the build was based on making gamma last for as long as possible I reckon moving into he hunter tree for hunter kill skills would definitely outweigh 15 seconds on power inside though
I wrote down where the different %’s came from if you are keen to get into the maths of it.

This is a question that I havent had a concrete answer for. Does big game effect hunter skills in the sense that say 40% from frenzy would benefit from 30% making it roughly 53% or is the math different

If I get a good red fang I’ll definitely try this out.

Is this build viable without that red fang item or even that much good gear at all? Maybe on a lesser difficulty?

I have been having a blast with this build. I found a couple synergies that really help me maximize my dps.
I have the legendary relic that boosts your elemental damage by 93% and I’m using it with the red suit, immunity to radiation dmg shield. For weapons, I’m mainly using all radiation guns, a westergun, faisar and pestilence.
Where it gets fun is my grenade is the pipe bomb.
I toss it on the ground near me, step inside the radiation blob, then start the fight. Gamma burst was one shotting badasses if they didn’t have three health bars. It would drop anointed by at least half, which made the fights pretty quick.
One trick I figured out was that you can have your pet gamma burst anywhere you can see, and the mobs on map will run to try and target it if they’re aggressive and active. The taunt has some range, and mobs don’t resist it at all.
So I had my pet gamma burst around the corner from them, drawing them to that corner to be pipe bombed and radiation dotted to death. Think of it like being able to set traps for them.
Anyways, now for the bad news. This was only on mayhem 2, and through Trials, with moderate modifiers, minuses to gun dmg and snipers and the like.
Anyways, this gives me some encouragement to start farming mayhem 3 rare mobs and spawn camps. Great build!

Yeah from the testing I did with interplanetary stalker + big game in this video https://youtu.be/82Lu6UGZkpo
The maths seems to work that way, eg base damage x (interplanetary stalker damage boost x big game bonus)

So if you had 5/5 interplanetary stalker so 10% per stack for max of 30% and 3/3 for big game at 30% increased hunter skill effect and 100 base damage would the formula be 100x1.3x1.3= 169?
From what my testing showed it would be more like 100 x (1.3 x 1.3) or 100 x (1.3 increased by 30%)= 139
This is because big game increases the hunter skill effectiveness by a %, So in this case it interacts with the interplanetary stalker damage % before the base damage becomes involved. This is what I found in testing the way the action skill damage bonus of interplanetary stalker was influenced by the big game bonus, things might be a little different for the way it affects guns but I can’t imagine why

Sorry yes I did the math before bed so the math was off. I just did 30x.3 to get 39 then 100x1.39= 139. And for my frenzy at 64% would be 64x.3=19.2 64+19.2=83.2
26% from furious attack 5points
43% from the most dangerous game 4 points in skill
83%frenzy-8points in skill
39% IP
191% from stack skills alone then 20% empathic rage, 12% persistence hunter 45% gh skag

So I tried this build and I must say it is the most fun I had with Fl4k since game launch. I will tinker with it and try some modifications but its awesome!

My experience is the best way to keep frenzy stacks maxed out is to put at least a single point into He Bites and reflected damage counts toward Frenzy stacks. This frees up an augment to pick up the damage boost and the kills extending duration which I have found gives more long term dps.
