Every post must have a picture V.2.0

a mouse trap. ok little electrical 101 you can touch that metal plate, the white wire and bare copper ground all day, no power no problem. the mouse, however, climbs on the plate, reaches up to eat the peanut butter, and 120 volts/20 amps (if on a dedicated breaker, wall outlet considerably less) of electricity races down his little body, through his heart to ground on the metal plate he’s standing on. instant death. only takes half an amp to stop a human heart if the electricity finds a path to your heart. which this is designed for. same principle as defibrillators. ingenius.

oh. btw, those 9 volt batteries you test on you tongue? they can kill you the same way. just FYI.

And your posts sums up really well why electricians wear safety boots.
(And I know how it feels like having 230 volts going through your body)

try 480v, which is what I work with. and no, regular steeltoes is what I wear. long as you don’t ground yourself, say by touching something metal, your fine.

Gotcha. That was my main thing. It looked like something that was very shocky, but I couldn’t figure out why they would make it so shocky and why the peanut butter was involved.

only shocking if you touch both. hell, you could grab that hot wire and it wouldn’t shock you if you weren’t touching any other wire. Of an 120v american home set up. 220v(europe) 277v/480v (retail stores) 600v(petrochemical plants) those will grab you and not let go. It is literally company policy if someone gets tagged with 277 or 480, you kick the ■■■■ out of them to get them off that wire. they might be bruised as ■■■■, but they (should) be alive to thank you.

Sad in the first place, which then gets worse for elementary-level spell-fail. Bonus fail: consistency.
