Yeah, they only had a 1/30 chance each. Four attempts doesn’t quadruple chances, only makes it four times faster. Now it is 1/10 each of course (or that is what we think how it works).
On that note, Terramorphous offers two attempts at his loot pool per kill. Not that it helps because of that ridiculously overfilled pool.
Exactly. And saying just be grateful doesn’t help your case any, OP. This isn’t everything you need to know about legendaries and most of what you’ve given us has already been discussed before.
I disagree with this whole concept because of two reasons:
Legendaries aren’t needed in Normal mode, which is what new players would likely still be playing when they looked at your list, so your list is unusable to them.
By the time a new player reaches Ultimate mode, where legendaries really shine, they’re no longer new and need good information backed up by research, which you haven’t really provided.
You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, but that doesn’t mean we have to agree with it. Again, everything you’ve listed has been discussed already in the various top gear threads for each Vault Hunter. So why post a document that basically ignores everything that has already been discussed?
For the record, nobody here is attacking you, only your list, which the majority doesn’t agree with. And, no, we will not just be grateful because you’re not bringing anything new to the table that we haven’t already seen and discussed.
I’d add Thunderball Fists. One took me through six levels pretty much on it’s own and another strips Pete’s shields faster than anything else I’ve seen. One of the most powerful and versatile weapons in the game IMO
can you not comprehend that this was thrown together over a year ago with some things added in late, it was’t made for you or anyone else on here, it was made for myself and a buddy as a reference so I didn’t have to check a few sites to find everything. I honestly don’t care about those who have done their ‘homework’, I have over 2000 hours in game, I don’t live by it, I know the pimpernal and flakker have their place just like most weapons but like I have said this was just thrown together, I didn’t force it down your throat.
Last night, on TVHM, I launched an assault on the Wildlife Preserve, armed with Maggie as my primary weapon, a good class mod and Nisha’s Badge.
I don’t think I’ve had such fun on that level before, and I ended up exploding everything and slaughtering most of the preserve. Here’s an example of how great Mags is: If you’ve got the right pistol build for Zero, you can kill loaders before they land.
Sometimes, you don’t need a Vladof Sniper Rifle or your sword as a primary weapon. A pistol will do the job just fine, and Maggie is excellent with Bore.
You rated the KerBlaster a 3 out of 10 for usefulness? Are you kidding me? I got one from Midgemong at the beginning of UVHM and that thing alone carried me through so many levels. It’s a beast if you know how to use it and it really shines on Axton’s hands. Actually, rating weapons like this really doesn’t work for this game. A weapon’s usefulness depends on the class you’re using, the build you have, what other items you have equipped for synergy, what you’re using it for, your playstyle, the enemy you’re fighting and a whole bunch of other factors. Some of them have a steeper learning curve than others, but once you get the hang of them, you see how powerful they can be. You really need to consider all of that and do a whole bunch of tests to determine a weapon’s “usefulness”.
OP, why not change your title to “everything I need to know about legendarys and not for you to know”
Now it is for your own keeping and friends.
No more misunderstanding.
I think seeing as how the OP is regarding most criticism as a personal attack, they should remove all of the links and ask that this thread be locked. That way it becomes a personal list again and not something presented to the community for unwanted feedback. Win-win-win as they say.
It’s a nice thing that you wanted to share this and help new players out. No one’s criticizing you for that. The problem is your weapon notes are oversimplified and you’re spreading misinformation when it comes to the ratings, something that could hurt those new players you claim to want to help. Not only that, most of the information you said we should be grateful you’re providing was already available in the game’s wiki and in this very forum (although I truly don’t think that’s an issue, as it would be cool to have all of that readily available in the same document). To be completely honest, if you had removed your personal ratings before posting and had not acted like your reference guide was a godsend full of previously unattainable information once people criticized it, I really doubt any of the “bitches” around here would be criticizing you at all. The people pointing out the mistakes in your guide are actually also looking out for those very same new/inexperienced/casual players and are giving you suggestions on how you could improve your guide. If you modify your document based on those suggestions, you could really build something useful here. As it stands right now, it’s far from being “everything you need to know about legendaries”.
Which is it? I’ve been avoiding adding to this “conversation” as other people are much more eloquent and nice in their responses, but the one thing I can not stand is hypocrisy.
May I offer a possible solution? Keep all factual info and replace ratings with ‘synergy’. Just use the top gear guides and a letter code for each class.
G = gunzerker
C = commando
M = mechro
P = psycho
S = siren
A = assassin
E = everyone
Not a bad idea. I’d go one further and remove that column altogether, since the rest is factual whereas how good a weapon is is highly subjective. For instance, I think the Thunderball Fists is possibly one of the very best weapons in the game, yet here it’s rated pretty average. If this was just a handy guide on where to find which Legendary and what it did it would be much better received IMO.
To be fair, I’d rather eat, sleep, rave, repeat or whatever it was with a copy of BL2 between my arsecheeks, rather than sit and play Call Of Duty all day.
I meant no offence with that previous comment, so there was no need to be offensive to me (and others) who play the BL games religiously.
Can someone actually make an “everything you need to know about legendaries” chart.
Something that does explain in some form without going into too much personnel opinion what legendary works better with some characters than others. If there used with certain builds and skills they really are badass.
I’m one of those in between players who’s arse cheeks are free from a copy of the game but have made it all the way through UVHM and really doesn’t want to waste time farming legendaries that just don’t work with the builds I have or the style of play I use.
If there is already something out there, would someone please be so kind to point me it its direction.
Your best bet is to check the Top Gear thread (in each character’s section) in this forum or the Old Gearbox Forum, or even the various Build threads for each character. In several cases, Legendary Weapons are eclipsed by Uniques, Pearlescents or possibly even Seraphs…
As Poisd said, check out the top gear threads for the toon(s) you’re interested in. Each section has a community guide which will have a link to the current TG thread for that toon.
