The grog drunk effect is a bit different from a massive fire rate increase.
Think of it like this. When you’re holding a laser and VC is active, you are dual wielding 2 laser weapons essentially. Both of these lasers have the same fire rate, damage, and whatever other bonuses applied to them. When the glitch effect activates on one laser, it pushes one of its stats far beyond what the VC is normally capable of. However, since the VC gets the same bonuses as whatever laser is currently in Wilhelm’s hands, its stats get pushed to that level. If they didn’t, it could cause some sort of bugginess with the VC since it could have different stats than the weapon in Wilhelm’s hand, almost making it like a seperate weapon. Since this isn’t BL2, and we’re not allowed to dual wield any 2 weapons we want anymore, its more likely that this was intended, as it simply makes more sense than having what is essentially a dual wielder whose offhand gun can randomly change stats.
It’s not just loop that can affect VC; VC can benefit from every single glitch effect. The glitch effects are essentially the same as BL2’s weapon RNG effects, albeit with different execution. Even though it doesn’t work the same, it’s still the same principle behind Grog, Evil Smasher, Pimp/Flakker switching etc.Your reasoning about how glitches work with VC is correct (although note that it’s not just lasers that work with it, and only railguns turn the VC into a machine gun), but even so, just because it was left that way in order to avoid other glitches doesn’t necessarily mean it was intended.
Even if you don’t consider it an exploit, remember when CV first came out and people were using glitched Muckamucks (I think) to transfer glitch effects to any gun? From a more moral (for lack of a better word) standpoint, glitching the VC carries largely the same connotations (it’s also banned from the Time Trials iirc).
It definitely gets Wilhelm’s laser and fire rate bonuses, along with the boost from Laser guided. If it’s coded as a laser gun in the game code, it should still get gun damage bonuses, unless it works like Power Fist and A Backhand to Remember.
I can’t test it out right now, but its easy to do. Go to the dummy with this build and no other gear equipped (and BAR off). See how much damage VC does. Then put points in Fire Support. See if the Damage increases. http://thepresequel.com/Wilhelm/000000000000505150500100000000000
Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. It’s only fire radius damage. If it was explosive, it would be boosted by explosive dualities, and I’m sure if that was the case, someone would’ve found out by now.
Also, in the exact situation you describe, the damage isn’t that great. Its OK, just not great. Having the Disker in hand doesn’t do anything to change the VC properties.
