F2P Edition release idea

Hello guy’s before some flames comming, cause we pay maybe 30-40 Euro for this game some weeks ago.
But realiz that we need to do something, to increase the playerbase extremly.
Cause the Game is now in my opinion pretty nice, with a Rankedque, and slower Matchmaking it would be great!

But how we want to get this? There are alot of games on the Market, and not alot of guy’s or better to say, not much guy’s as we need buying the Game.

In my Opinion maybe Battleborn should add a free to play edition.
Today Battleborn cost for PC on gamekeysites 25-30 Euro.
You can offer everyone a freetoplay Edition with 4-5 Battleborn. 1 Tank,1healer, oscar maybe, sniper. and 1 melee assa like rath or so.
Also the freetoplay Edition should include 2 Story mission, prolog and maybe 1 - 2 more.
Different playstyle, like 1 escort, 1 Defend point and prolog.
PvP Que complet open .

Then you give in shop a option to buy a upgrade to Battleborn complete.
25 Euro or so,should be okay in my opinion, maybe 30!

Seasonpass can be still aviable its not a problem. but we need more player, and i see no chance to get this without a freetoplay edition.
And im pretty sure, if the 30-40% of the “freetoplay” Player will buy the Battleborn upgrade to full version.
Cause the Game is not the problem . It has some humor, its offer PvE and PvP .
Its just Matchmaking -> Playerbase what killing this game.

If someone read some reviews before he will buy a game, what nearly everyone does.
They now that the game has a slow matchmaking.
And this is for sure sometime a reason to dont buy the game.
But without new player-> how to solve this problem?

I’m going to offer a different wording:

“Badass Demo Version”

With that said, I’m not sure that it’s a good idea. Games that introduce a FtP version after paid release usually get a nuclear ■■■■-storm of hate.

I have said for a very long time that there needs to be a permanent demo of BB available.

No. The developers need to fix the game if they want it to do well. It has many problems.

If they had done that before release, it’d work. But they didn’t, and it’s too late now. Also, I read your entire post in a Russian accent for some reason. It was beautiful.

I think it will go free-to-play in some form this year as someone from gearbox mentioned they were confident in the games future on another thread and FTP is the only way they could realistically be confident.

this will get the player base up. probably a permanent percentage of the story will be free (say 3-4 missions) and all the Multiplayer.

Yeah, I’d be willing to bet this happens eventually. Maybe not until closer to the end of the year, but it will happen.

And you are. Problem is we’re also free of most of the pay to play people as well.

I wouldn’t put F2P out of the realm of possibilities here in a few months time. Hopefully 2K and GBX are wise enough to remember to put the people who paid for the game on a premium account though so we can continue to get the free future content we were promised.

If GBX (and 2K god help us) play their cards right, by the time Paragon and the other slew of first person MOBA’s come out Battleborn could be hands down the most balanced and mature title of the bunch.

This game 100% absolutely needs to go FTP as soon as possible. Either that or they have to shut the game down and offer mass refunds to everyone…and then regenerate hype / re-release.

You might laugh at me regarding the later choice but I’m being completely sensible here. One of my favorite games ever (which Im sure many of you play) FF14 realized the errors of its ways - completely shut down and built itself back up into the behemoth that it is today.

Right now, I’m more worried about whether and how this entire debacle is going to effect the series that (lets be realistic here) most of us truly care about.

If the game becomes free-to-play, and the distasteful free-to-play element settles in. Gearbox/2k will lose a paying customer. As I said, I pay to be away from those people. When those people are allowed in I move on. There is always a new game.

I dont agree with that…Many games that are great or become great time after release die out just because of earlier falters no matter how perfect the game becomes.

Not with Battleborn though, if you got the DDE or season pass. Everything coming up is included then.

Did FF14 offer everyone refunds when they did this? Genuinely curious as I do not see any company doing this.

I’ve thought about this and I’m all for it. The free version would be Pvp only and they would have to unlock all but starting roster with credits. Game owners would still get the advantage of easier access to gear, through story and not spending credits on characters.

They would just need to make it so you couldn’t just rent the game and unlock everyone for free. I guess they would do that by just making the free version unlocks completely separate from disk version unlocks.
