Fairly new sal player

Pretty sure Deputy Build surpasses the Sheriff Build in terms of popularity.

Here are a few unconventional approaches

And from yours truly ( works best at OP4 but works at OP8 if using a ROM ) :

I’ll definitely try these, thanks both! Think I’ll watch derch’s sal skill guide too

Dunno if it’s anything particularly special or unique, but I use this build with a Leg. Gunzerker COM and elemental Hyperion shotguns (Thinkings, Interfacers, and Conference Calls primarily) and an off-hand slag Rubi. The idea is to exploit the Hyperion accuracy boost to hit crits as much as possible (yes, Sal can crit with a bit of skill)…I think of it as the Critical Sal build.

And Derch’s vids are WELL worth the time.

You could check out my Forever in Pain (Brawn focused) build, but make sure to read thru it as I’ve added some changes to the later part of it…

Definitely will when I get home

Also check out any build based on the Hoarder COM, like Kittehzerker or any basic Lyuda build.

Almost none of the time trial runs use Harold/Grog or RL/Pimp, so that should tell you a lot about the diversity.

It’s the deputy himself  thanks for the info, I’ll definitely look at some after work

We need more deputy build run in the TT. Still waiting for @Kurtdawg13’s entries

I’m not expecting them to show up there honestly. The build isn’t optimized for speed.

Almost all Sal entries for mobbing are using a Sniper rifle, either the Moloko, the Lyuda or the Pimp, and that playstyle is too different for the Deputy setup to compete.

I’ve never done a time trial, so I don’t know the rules? What map should I attempt? BAR room brawl? Tier 3? using the Dep Build. any restrictions to pay attention to?

I would suggest you start by watching a few of the top runs on YouTube to see if it is even feasible.

These guys know of the possible builds to use and they probably tried it already with a Deputy to try and get a better time.

Good luck my friend

That would be wise, which I am not.
I just did this last night after power leveling a friend from 0-40. I decided to run through with the Dep Build. not a very impressive time by any means, but its a starting point that i can “gaige” from.

Zero + accuracy boosts + Crit bonus + point blank range + deception bonus + OSOK + slag + death mark + Jakobs Crit bonus + well-placed shot.

Full on Chuck80 build. Roll with deputy. Speaking of Deputy, when I see sal players online with ranDUMBS, all I ever see, is norfleets, harolds, and Pimperhab. So, go Deputy sal for general sal builds.

My favorite build of all time was grog offhand with Shock Pimpernel main. Not exactly optimal raid material but it still deleted most of the game. Sal can more or less do whatever he wants.
