I’m sorry, and being a grumpy old man, but really?
I personally don’t need higher drop rates, I’m already awash in legendary gear, a good bit of my time is spent simply looking at minor differences between pieces of gear and getting rid of one.
As others have mentioned, buffing the drops themselves vs. just having more drops is a more reasonable solution for us farmers. Biasing the dice rolls towards awesomeness would be better than more.
Cuz what this would seem to mean is that instead of getting 5 Golden Rule drops from a single encounter (as I did yesterday) I might get 8, and nothing particularly interesting about them.
Quality over quantity is the hope.

Well the more quantity, the more quality that is possibly included. I still have yet to find perfect rolls on the DLC gear yet and like you said, they drop like crazy (which is perfect to me)
Sounds like they’re boosting spawn rates and drop quality, so we’ll see. Sounds promising. Really looking forward to getting my hands on some specific anointed guns… [stares at Borman Nates]
You see… I think what they meant with that statement was that all those bosses would have and increased loot drop chance but not and increased designated loot drop chance. It’s really tricky the way they wrote it.
Their PR department is really good. Most people thought that flak and zane coms would drop like candy but actually they only increase other drops like blues, purples and maybe legendaries world drops in those specific bosses. Cause most if not all the time they only dropped either their designated drop or ammo and vials.
This is what I understood I might be wrong and they actually increased the designated drops from trials and the others but this didnt reflect in the game at all.

The official BL2 Loot Hunt also seemed to be extremely popular. There’s mileage to be had in these things!
Are the Hammerlock’s Hunt targets, Zero’s target of Assassination, and other mission enemies like Anointed Alpha, considered Bosses or are they included in this Farming Frenzy?
“… includes repeatable bosses from the main story campaign, Proving Grounds and Circle of Slaughter arenas, and the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite, as well as named enemies including Rare Spawns, Hammerlock Hunts, and Targets of Opportunity. All these distinct, deadly baddies will be more likely to drop Legendary items from their respective loot pools—and as an added bonus, the Anointment rate for dropped gear has also been temporarily increased!”
They know their drop rates are so bad that it’s a literal event to make them fun. And then they try to psychologically manipulate people into coming back for a short time to experience the fun, only to take it away again.
Events are a way to re-engage players and attempt to recapture them. Having a short term event that eases their player hostile designs for a short time won’t recapture anyone for the long term, but apparently Gearbox is more concerned with short term number boosts than consistent player retention.
I look forward to when they decide to make the game fun all the time, instead of just for short windows of time so they can claim they have an ‘event’.
I’m just really frustrated by all this, and super disappointed in Gearbox for the way they are approaching ‘content’ for the game. They’re literally throwing scraps. At this point, it’s apparent the game will only be fun after they’re done ‘supporting’ it and move onto BL4, since they will no longer feel compelled to cripple the main game so they have some ‘events’ to release.
But to not ■■■■ on everyone else’s fun, I hope those of you that return and play enjoy it and get all the phat loots you desire.
I know man, it’s some top tier bullsh!t from Gearbox. It’s so obvious that they know about the horrible drop rates but decide to keep them so low that people need to spend insane amounts of time to get what they want. hopefully long enough so the whatever DLC coming out re-vigorate players interest. Then rinse ans repeat.
We probably won’t see a permanent fix until all DLC and whatever else they will try to sell us is out.
I don’t think i will have much interest left if it continues like this. And perhaps i’ll be so burnt out that not even DLC will renew my interest. New story and locations are great, but i’m in this game for the loot. For brain-storming builds and it’s impossible right now. I’ve been playing the same 2-3 builds(slight variations of the same one) since forever because i just can’t CBA anymore.
You’re right that instead of fixing this wide spread complaint they make an event out of it as it will generate more interest than a regular patch would. It’s exploitive and disrespectful of peoples time investment.
Tbh I blame all the people complaining about the generous drop rate in September. It is because of them the loot was nerfed to the point where they need to launch an event to rectify it.
Take for example this article on forbes:
" I am bracing myself for impact, as I’m about to say something incredibly controversial. Borderlands 3 , a loot based game, is being too generous with its loot in the endgame."
Then later in December from the same writer:
“Recently, Borderlands 3 did make a few changes, upping the drop rates of certain rare spawns and Slaughter/Proving Grounds bosses, but honestly, it’s still not enough. Borderlands 3 is using an old metric of drop generosity when the game has fundamentally changed from its past installments. Even if this is way things “used” to be, the game has changed because of a few factors, namely Anointments and perks.”
I could cite other notable people complaining in September, but tbh its pointless because here we are starting 2020 with a Farming Frenzy.
I still don’t understand the point of rare spawns in a game that’s not an always online MMO. You can just quit and enter the game again lol. Nothing is gained by having rare spawns
Yeah, Gearbox were far too quick to react to complaints early on, with huge over-reactions. I loved how much they were listening and that they tried to fix things (even if only because they released the game before it was really ready) but the fixes only made things worse.
