Feedback - Why I wont buy Battleborn

My experience with the beta was enough to make up my mind as to why I wont buy the game.

Biggest issue. The matchmaking is a total failure. This could be because of a few different reasons but the reasons does not change the experience for me personally. I started 7-8 story missions and stared at the finding team mates every time without a single success. Always had to play alone. Same goes for the pvp type games. Once my team filled up and then I waited another 25 minutes for none of the opposition slots to fill.

Then why cant I select to do the story mission only with my friends in my party. Why do we have to get random people to join us? This is a bit of a moot question because we did do it alone every time we started but the game still looked for team mates. It should most definitely have an option to play with your friends only.

So as a single player game it is clunky, disjointed and unbalanced, and as a multiplayer game it is a complete failure. Might be because of my country and thus my connection might be too slow but it comes down to the same thing.

There are many things I do like about the game but unless these major flaws are addressed there is no point in looking for a bright side.

The second thread I’ve seen about not being able to play with only your friends. How did people miss the private story mode button? It was smaller, I guess, but right under the other one.

I had no trouble finding people for matches. I suspect this is a regional/country issue.

my guess is they saw the private story mode but I guess they didn’t put it together, make a party and start private story

What @Misguided said.

or maybe he was like a lot of us and could not join a game with friends. I know I could not. tried repeatedly and could not.

The only time I tried it, it worked great. Did you get an error or did nothing happen? Did you make a bug report?

No need to be so harsh folks. Feedback is important to the developer. Let’s not slam people for having an opinion that differs from yours.

You can play privarely with only friends, though I admit that isn’t as visible as going against randoms.

no I did not make a bug report because it did not strike me as a bug, I use to have the same issue with borderlands and it just seamed to be more of the same issues with connectivity that plagues gearbox games.

also because in the end the issue drove the friends I was trying to play with away from the beta. they were not interested enough in the game to try to fix the issue.

Everyone, please concentrate on the content of the post and NOT the user.

He has the right to list his opinion, you have the right to politely disagree.

Last warning folks.

I suppose I can understand that, but please do if you get the chance. After all, mp is more of a focus here and if there’s a problem, maybe they can fix it.

There was purposely no ranked matchmaking in the beta. If nothing else gets changed before the release, the matchmaking will. Don’t use that as a reason to not buy the game! I didn’t have any friends try the beta so I don’t know how playing story missions with friends/party failed, but there was both a private and public mode available. I sincerely doubt they won’t let us play story missions with our private friends/party list. I can tell you that i had no problems finding players for both public PvP and public PvE games so I’m pretty sure the problem is with your connection speed. I understand you have had a poor experience with the beta but I don’t believe your complaints should be aimed at the game/devs

While you are correct, I can’t help but feel this was a bit of a communications blunder if nothing else. Many beta participants formed a negative opinion because of the matchmaking and didn’t know there wasn’t any skill-based system in place. There should have been a flashing neon sign warning people that match ups were random.

While it is also true that this seems to have been, in large part, a stress test. People are making purchasing decisions based on it. I don’t blame them for that. I completely understand if someone is hesitant to drop 60+ dollars on a game when they have no idea what the matchmaking will look like at release.

Yeah definitely agree. I’m seriously doubting I’ll pre-order without knowing how much or what exactly will be changed between now and the release version.

I didn’t consider that some people wouldn’t have known about being matched up with randoms on the public matches. Putting a sign up, as you suggested, would have been a good idea.

Thats true though 9/10 the rank people were didnt mean much anyway. All it showed was how much they played the game seeing as how you gain rank by simply participating in a match.

^^^^^^ True. My few last games today where surprisingly using a new ranked system and while these where all more balanced rank wise on the game itself it didn’t translate into such … I had a game where my team were lower ranked than the opposite team and we still won rather easily, the next match it was the complete opposite to the point where i couldn’t believe i was playing with 40+lvl players. Good player matchup/complement >> higher ranked players.

The only thing that is putting me on the fence on whether to buy the game or not is content expansion, while new chars are welcome what i really want is at least 2 new maps for each mode to add some variance, otherwise thing gonna get stale after a while.

All the points have been made. Just wait until the release and watch some gameplay videos after release, if it looks better make you decision then…

This was a beta. It should have been obvious that there were going to be issues and things to be worked through. In fact, most games don’t reach full potential for another 6 months after release. Anyone who plays it before or during the first 6 should understand that these types of games evolve with community feedback.

I thought it was painfully obvious there was no legit match making.

And this circumstance will continue to happen even after you and I are dead. “Sigh”

Perhaps, but players had no way of knowing whether or not that would be the same or different at launch.
