First Update coming to Homeworld Remastered Collection

Yes that post would have been suuuuuuper useful a week ago. GG. There are balance changes in there though far fewer than at first glance and far smaller than you’d expect. Makes sense in the context of BitVenom’s post.

In fact looking through it thoroughly about 90%, maybe 95% are either GFX fixes, Model fixes, thruster fixes or a whole bunch of changes that doesn’t seem to do anything and a few actual bug fixes (can use volley on strike craft now woot!) and a great many changes that seem to cancel each other out? (reduced penetration but increased damage = same damage?)

Granted that list isn’t official but for this post I’ll assume it’s accurate. And like i said, most of those changes probably do nothing(for balance) and was made for coding (rounding maybe?) reasons or in preparation for when actual balancing starts or heck, just testing values for, again, future testing. I’m big enough to admit some of the changes like the ship HP changes would have been good to include in the notes but 90-95% could have stayed under ‘various’ as it has no effect or no discernible effect at all regarding balance.

agree most of those balance changes were useless, in fact wonder if they made those on purpose or were aware of most of those changes (automated stats update tool perhaps) yet that only lists the lua and ship files changes, we are still in the dark regarding the changes done at the engine

i still ignore which were the audio bugs GB claims were fixed with its “various audio fixes” patch note, so far all the audio bugs i have noticed are still there

Right – take your own advice next time – PM if you must.

No it’s not. He’s a moderator, not conversation police. You don’t step in because a conversation is dragging on too far, you step in when people are breaking the rules.

No rules were broken and infractions were doled out – more over, still no rules were broken and he posted that. He could have just as easily sent one PM with 2 recipients and asked them nicely instead of attempting to look like some half cocked authority figure in an attempt to shame them into discontinuing the conversation.

You were one of the two who weren’t breaking any rules, you were one of the two that he made look foolish with that post. It was inappropriate, so I flagged it as so.

He is a moderator – he represents Gearbox, and theforeby; his behavior reflects Gearbox. By extension, every thing he types should represent professionalism. This was a clear demonstration of how NOT to behave as a professional moderator.

You also DO NOT DOLE OUT INFRACTIONS when users point out that employees are saying things that are NOT true. You apologize and put out better notes in the future. To defend undocumented balance changes in a strategy game is beyond absurd, to then dole out infractions when the users note that no other company with a product in the same space behaves this way is reprehensible.

Gearbox is falling apart. The quality control is negligent, the outsourcing is real, the behavior on their official forums reflects the work ethic… You should not blindly respect such a disrespectful company, more over, one that has only one breakout IP [which objectively ins’t even that good.]

We all want a good product here, but Gearbox post launch support is historically horrible, when they can’t even spend the effort writing proper patch notes, how can you expect anything professional out of these guys anymore?

This is called consumer doubt. It’s a normal part of business, when you see consumer doubt rise – you’re supposed to tackle it with better public relations, not laugh at the consumer and snicker and say “We can’t possibly document our changes” when every other professional company in the same market space has no problems doing so.

I sent you a PM over 20 minuets ago on this matter to discuss it there. Yet you are still here commenting about it loudly and disruptively.
Take it to the PM I sent.

Not for nothing, but I was typing my post when you sent the PM.

@Kitty_Jo, Thanks for the conversation, I appreciate the time you took to speak with me.

I copied over the sound folder from my CD version of Homeworld 2, and ran the game with the -overrideBigFile command. So far I’m able to run Remastered just fine with the Homeworld 2 sounds. Much better sound mix, in my opinion. The sounds in Remastered are alright, but the levels on the explosions sound like they are all maxed out and they end up overwhelming everything else.

Anyway, that’s my thoughts on the sounds and how to fix them.

So… Looks like i was right then?

But yeah… It’s because i wasn’t assuming things that aren’t there: When the devs say they changed weapons & ships… It wasnt’ about visuals because they didn’t say it was about visuals. Therefore, it’s pointless to assume they were talking about visuals. ^^

So yeah… Balance changes. Like i said. But yeah i actually did get flagged by someone for these posts… And suspended for two days no less. People: If you don’t agree with something, it doesn’t mean the content is inappropriate.

I really don’t understand where you get that 90% or so of those changes are GFX fixes… They clearly mention that actual acceleration times for thrusters have been changed: Not the graphics of the thrusters.

I don’t see how any of those changes have anything to do with graphics, really. They gave you numbers to clearly see they changed the way things work; Not the way things appear.

You can disagree with this… But so far it’s been verified that those changes were 0% GFX changes…

/E: I misread part of your post. Sorry. I thought you were still talking only about the weapon and ship changes. So this post is almost pointless. Except for one: where do you get the 95% thing from? Looks more like 20%. I:E Only 20% or less were GFX changes.

Considering his post is still on point: I.E it’s on topic. And yours is not… You are the one being disruptive. You are trying to break discussion, that is on-topic. Nothing else. Truly. To the eyes of customers it seems like pointless censure. I’m sorry but it’s true.

I’m sorry for pointing out things that happen. Last time i did this i got suspended for a few days.

It is not what you do, it is how you do it. Our job is often to disrupt conversations that we see as leading toward hostility. If we tell you to drop particular line of conversation or to simply take a one-on-one debate to PM, as we often do, then that is us being preventative.

So, in an effort to prevent further issues, please drop this current little tiff you seem to have with the mods. If you have an issue with how we handle things, you can PM @Jeffybug to discuss things further.

Now that should be that last of this discussion. The next post that is not on topic will be given a flag. And, yes, that is a warning. To everyone.

TL;DR:

HW2:R resource collectors seem to only be collecting 250 RU per haul in single player. This makes acquiring resources a little slow especially if you’re replenishing your fleet mid-mission.

In case I missed it somewhere, is there an ETA for the next patch ? Not complaining or anything, just wanna know if anything about its release has been said.

Just spoke with the team this morning. We’re currently looking to get the next patch out by by mid next week. Stay tuned for more info.

Alright ! Thanks for the quick reply and the great job you guys are doing

Yes, thank you for your work, guys. We know you’re busy even if you don’t reply as often as others might like. I, for one, am satisfied.

Just make sure that WHILE you’re doing all the fixes and alterations, try to have fun. I know work can be like a slavedriver. There are plenty of people that are happy with what you’re doing.

Thank you.

Yeah, thanks! I’m pretty ok with it… for now… for short periods of contentment that grow smaller as time progresses. :expressionless:

Dem backhanded compliments lol.

Great news, hopefully most of the issues will be resolved.
