Wait, I didn’t pick that up, where’s it confirmed we don’t need skills allocated for COMs? One of the gameplay videos or something?

I really do hope all the legendary COMs have an additional non-standard buff like some of the ones in tps and bl2 has.

There are multiple instances where it was heavily implied, that COMs now not only boost, but even unlock skills. One of those instances was during one of the more recent live streams where it was said that Class Mods now unlock certain skills. Also, I read that same phrase in an article. So, no, we have no clear confirmation, but I’m pretty certain that it will work like that.

Worst case, we will find out in less than a month. Best case would be a confirmation in one of the upcoming events, like Gamescom.

I hope this is the case then. Found it annoying before to have wasted slots on a COM.

Ooh. Okay that’s REALLY interesting for builds if it works like that and you can use class mods to grab a skill far down in a tree that you don’t have many points in.

I don’t think you do, it’s showing a plus 1 in both Arms Deal and Samsara the next tier down. Didn’t do that in BL2

Nevermind, found a video showing the progression. From 1:00-1:06 it shows what happens when a tier unlocks with class mod buffed skills. It auto gave the skills once the tier was unlocked.

I wonder if this new behavior of COMs (can boost skill without unlocking it first) will have implications how endgame, multiple playthroughs, and level caps are handled in BL3.

Effectively you can now manage skill points increase through COMs instead of player levels, which lessens the need for NVHM/TVHM/UVHM. Perhaps it does change everything…

Guess this will be amazing for getting a shitton of damage within a short amount of time. Huge boost in Fire Rate and Reload along with increased Accuracy.fl4kCM2

From the screen grabs I’ve seen, it seems the coms have set skills they boost, but variable additional bonuses ranging from defensive/offensive to manufacturer specific. There hasn’t been enough screen grabs to discern any early pattern, or whether the non-skill boosts are set options per com, but they seem super flexible as a whole.

Admiral Bahroo posted a video with some interesting info. From 1:35 on he talks about class mods and how they can now boost game changers and capstones! How the hell does that even work with half of the capstones? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I literally just watched it seconds ago, came here and saw this post. It’s exactly what I was thinking.

Since this is a Fl4k post, lets use the Master Tree, Dominance skill as an example. Can you now dominate more than 1 enemy, or do you just get boosted and target health loss?

Then you have a skill like Megavore that makes every shot you fire, have a 20% chance of being a crit. One more point would double that, basically making almost half of all shots fired be a crit, add any more and it just continues to get ridiculous.

Now, I am going to assume, and I know thats never a good thing, but I will assume that there is a rough and tumble end game and these kind of boosts will be a big help. Otherwise, seems kinda OP to me.

As I said, with numerical boosts it is easy enough to assume what it does, but from the gameplay it looks like Amara is regenerating a chunk of her health whenever she melee’s an enemy. What if the Capstones have additional functions build into them, depending on how many points you have? It could just as easily be a bonus from the class mod itself like “restore 20% of your HP with each melee attack”. It sure as hell will be interesting to see how far out of hand some skills might get, especially “Megavore” or “Dominance”. “The Power inside” will be crazy as well. Up to 150% extra damage is nuts (assuming having 2 additional points put into it via Class Mod).

Glad someone else noticed amaras health regen too. Sat down for 30 min trying to figure out what could have been causing it. They have clarity(procked when he action skilled the boss) but is not that significant no samsara stacks the entire video so it’s not that either. Chalked it up to either a class mod or maybe even the shotgun being a moxxi weapon but melee hits were proccing it as well
