I have this exact same issue as others have reported in this thread.
Sadly, this, as everything else, works on a random basis. I tested the game on six machines, two of them were exactly the same (as in newly built with same hardware/software) and results were VERY random. Random as in, a well above 9xx machine would not go above 12fps regardless of resolution or any options/ini file tampering - while playing fantastically other new games, like witcher, overwatch or paragon (which is very demanding, might I add) on medium-high settings. Two same machines were gtx 660 2gb, i53350p and 8gb with 900gb+ free hd space. I edited the .ini file, more than one reasonably should (messed with everything that didnât result in ctd, turned off or toned down dozens of options, not only physx), played the game on 640x480 and other ridiculous things and I got randomly different results.
I even thought that it might have something with redistributables versions (although it shouldnât, every game âseeksâ their own and acts accordingly), so I did just that, went for clean instal of redists that BB wants - nothing. Went for both win7 and win10 testing - nothing.
The game has some inherent flaw that manifests itself seemingly randomly. It is very frustrating when people who won the âbb performance lotteryâ donât realize that fact but go âupdate your driversâ or âyou have a hardware conflictâ or âyour windows is fragmentedâ and whatnot. As if people are idiots and wouldnât fix all that before labeling the game itself as problematic.
The response we got from gearbox was âamd cardsâ and âcertain mapsâ - this is NOT the case. That is a band aid and I will as bold as to say - a lie. Itâs simply impossible for them to be unaware of the fact that the problem manifests randomly and regardless of software or hardware combos or abilities. And that it manifests across the board when it comes to maps, effects, resolution, physx etc. It is NOT an âechelon issueâ or âamd cards issueâ or âintel amd combo issueâ or âphysx issueâ. Itâs some inherent issue, OR at least some unrelated conflict which has to be solved/made known - when I say âunrelated conflictâ I mean something like âlogitech mouse and razer keyboardâ or something.
Because nothing else makes sense, I have vigorously tested the game on various machines and I canât draw any conclusions. Those machines didnât have a pattern that connects or separates them in some way. And problems werenât specific (echelon, amd cards, cold snap etc).
You can go now, buy and built 10 completely same pcâs yourself, 10 pcâs waaaay above specs and you can easily get ten different results - when I say different, I donât mean âone averages 98fps with occasional drops to 71fps and peaks at 200fps, while the other one averages 91fps with drops to 70fps and peaks at 190fpsâ, but one will go 70-120 and other will go 12-58.
Iâm having the same issues. I recently picked up Battleborn in a HumbleBundle without knowing about all the fps issues. With the game on Ultra settings I get about 15fps and with the game on minimum settings I get about 20fps.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Optimist :<
This forum is full of fps complaints, so is steam discussion page and their facebook and they all get wonderfully ignored. That does not make my panties moist, to say the least. I doubt that this is going to get fixed seeing that they donât even acknowledge it. Oh, well. At least I get to keep Battleborn in my steam library as a symbol of my questionable life choices.
Iâd really like to know just what the hell is going on, once and for all. Iâve got I think a 550ti, which is pretty old but can still run modern games at minimum settings comfortably. My friend, who has an even older card, HAS BETTER FPS THAN ME! To top this off, my game will run perfectly fine until I stand in certain spots and/or look in certain directions. One memorable place is the room where the suicide Wolf sentry drops in. If I stand at the ground level, my FPS tanks hard in an empty room. My aforementioned friend has the same thing. But if I move to another elevation? 60 fps, regardless of how much action is going on.
It makes no sense. If I could pinpoint what exactly is causing this, I would at lest feel like this BS is justified. But right now it just feels like something is completely borked in the environments that cranks up the GPU workload in certain places.
At this point I feel like I shouldnât even be surprised, given this companyâs recent track record.

F*** you.
EDIT: I just noticed that 99% of threads in this section have a few hundred views at most, while FPS related threads have about 2k views each. Yeah, nothing broken hereâŚ
