So it looks like Overwatch is doing a free to play weekend from 9/9-9/12 and they are a thriving game with plenty of player base.
So my only question now is what is stopping Battle born from doing the same? Who would like to see this happen? I know it has been floated around on the forums before, but I just wanted to see what everyone’s thought was on this.
Is this something that can possibly help BB in the long run?

There needs to be a proper tutorial clearly explaining game mechanics for pve and pvp. Tons of people got the game with the humble bundle, and population still dropped because people thought the heroes weren’t balanced, not knowing they are all balanced around team play.
No, Gearbox should keep on keeping on polishing and tweaking and preparing for a great re-release after the DLC is done.

They also need to fix the optimization. Lots of peoples still got FPS issues for no particular reasons in really specific places/maps.
Not a great first impression either.

Yes, Re-release is the way to go, just polish the game up, (maybe get the game closer to how the trailers run?
) and release the game after all the DLC is released for 40-30 dollars, because 60 dollars might be too much for a game that will have been out for a while.
Just make sure 2k actually does their f*cking job and promotes the game this time around, and try to figure out when would be an optimal time to release it again. (Marketing and Sales-wise)

Phew, 2k only (even just comparatively) heavily promotes borderlands

I’d wait until the game is at the level where it stops bleeding players. Then it can gain new ones. Right now, they pay 30 bucks and disappear soon after

Yeah, it’s best to wait a while. how long? Beats me, long enough so people won’t compare it to a Blizzard game that’s coming out. Don’t try to compete with Blizzard when your publisher is as good at seeing trends as a handicapped dog with two lazy eyes.
Yeah, we’ll have to see what the sweetspot is. And to be fair, Battleborn announced their release date first. They never had a chance. Overwatch knew that someone might talk about Battleborn and lose a customer or at least some loot box money, so they were far more ready than any developer could ever handle
