Had ‘Connect to the Internet’ box in network settings unchecked so I think so?
Mhm, ok.
Thanks for answering anyway. Going to stick to BL2 untill this gets sorted out.
It’s really annoying for me, because I’m playing through with my friend atm. He played BL2 a while back and loved it, and he’s only just playing through TPS right now. Buuuuut we can’t because of this
I feel your pain.
Just started a new character in co-op aswell with a friend of my.
i turned my wifi/network connections of through the ps home screen and was able to pick up the claptrap side mission(Z8N-TP?) for the first time at the beginning portion of tycho’s ribs, which is further than ive gotten all week…not sure how long it will last but disconnecting the from the entire ps4 seems like its helping. ill write again soon
nvrm it froze again. thats disappointing, reputations are hard to build-but harder to fix
Tried without a connection, was able to play for around 30 minutes or so before it started freezing up. So, doesn’t seem to be a real solution. Started up a BL2 file on splitscreen and it didn’t seem to have the same problem, so far, but that file isn’t on TVHM or higher yet.
You’re lucky then. This has been an issue for awhile for alot of people. Just have to type in freezing in the search and alot comes up from march til now
No, it doesn’t help at all. It is not connected to the internet or the sound. I am only having this issue in Tycho’s Ribs. My copy is new. This is my first play through. It does NOT crash on BL2.
Tried playing TPS to see how long it took before it froze.
Didn’t even get to the vendors before Felicity before it crashed.
Wasn’t even anything special happening on the screen either, it was after I had destroyed everything in the room with Nisha, was just running towards the vendors when it crashed.
BL2 however hasn’t crashed since summer.
I’m in the same boat. I don’t know if it is tied to the 3.0 PS4 update or not, as I hadn’t reached the problem game-levels in the Handsome pack until after it was pushed.
For me, the lockups seemed specific to levels with large enclosed spaces and lots of lighting effects. I first noticed it in the main chamber in Tycho’s Ribs. That was the only level that consistently locked up, usually after about 10 minutes. I finally just had to bullrun my way through the level to reach another area gate and avoid losing progress (after about 8 lockups, spread over several days).
Didn’t have any notable issues after that, until I started the Claptastic Voyage missions. The Central Nexus area exhibits the same behavior; lockup after 5-10 minutes. Again, I had to essentially run through the level to reach an area gate. The succeeding area (with the recycle bin, etc.) was enclosed and problem-free, but it locks up on the next open area with lots of lighting effects, etc.
The PS4 never seems to detect that the application has frozen, so no error messages I can post. When it freezes, the ambient sound (and any triggered area sound, like Pickle’s Echo recording) continue to play, but no response to controls.
I’m thinking this is something unique to the lighting effects in large areas with lots of lighting effects; maybe GPU utilization.
Regardless, it really is spoiling the game. There’s not much point in level designers making fun and interesting showpiece levels, if the player has to run through them to avoid the game crashing.
Hopefully the source of this is found and patched SOON.
Thanks!
TPS has crashed on me long before the 3.0 update. It was the last game patch that killed TPS.
For the record I’ve never had BL2 crash on me.
I’ve tried with no internet connection and still experienced the freezing I’m afraid.
When playing online, another thing I’ve noticed is that if you get a “connection failed” error whilst playing online, and subsequently booted back to the main menu, there then seems to be an increased chance of freezing.
Exactly, its been like that for me and alot others as well.
I also think the freezing is connected to the latest patch.
I made it to tycho’s ribs where i couldnt progress through without freezing. I tried about 5 times, each time it froze.
Then i uninstalled the update by selecting delete from the xmb and tried again playing in offline mode from just the disk, and i got through first try without a freeze. It could be just a coincidence but i dont think so.
If you are having problems with freezing in a particular area, try without the update and please report back here if this solves it for you. Also, keep an eye on the 9gb update re-downloading and pause it before it completes so that you can install it when you want, not automatically.
As far as i know, all the game’s content is on the disk, the 9gb patch does not add anything new other than bug fixes and so called performance improvements, which i think are causing more problems than they are solving.
Actually now that i checked the patch notes, 1.01 reads “added the claptastic voyage DLC”, so i dont think this can be played without the update if you are freezing there, just the other areas.
I’ve been having these same problems playing as Nisha in the Tychos Ribs area. I had been playing fine with no freeze up until that area. I can’t get a few minutes in when it will freeze. I’ve zoned to different areas and I haven’t had any freezing issues.
I had played the whole campaign with Wilhem with zero freeze up but that might have been prior to patch 3.0 not sure when that patch was released by Sony. It’s really frustrating because I can’t continue leveling as I’ve already killed Irajiwa so many times I almost feel bad for him (or Her?)
and well at my level he doesn’t give good amounts of XP anymore.
Please fix ASAP
Ive been thinking, if the game freezes during a save, its probably going to corrupt it or something.
We should all be backing up our saves incase this happens.
Counts for every game.
OT:
In BL2 it can also happen. But only when you dashboard a couple of times while the game is running.
Be warned. I might have lost a legendary skin this way.
Try using Maya to see if the skin is there in the quick change station.
I hope you didn’t lose it.
Been playing more and if playing offline but still on psn, freezes are -much- more infrequent. Basically, dragons froze on sal, but taking offline everythings fine for an hour’s play. TPS mutator runs fine for an hour before freezing for offline game play.
So at least for me, bl2 freezes much more frequently when online, and that still holds true as I keep playing (statisically, it’s consistent). TPS I haven’t trued online for some time, but subconscious audio didn’t stutter unless I used a vending machine.
