I got old man cranky on my very first bots battle and it was a 4v5. I’d have Worthy of song but the matches end way too quickly. I need to play with a team so we don’t end the match in 10 minutes.
If you do make it permanent, I know you will consider many things, but I would like to put my input.
- I honestly think lores and most challenges and titles they should count in this, but I would hope that you make some of titles and challenges against actual players, not bots. So something like WoS or Coopetition can only be got against a human. The titles that were meant to indicate your PvP prowess.
- You need to greatly increase the intelligence and strategy of the bots. In my experience playing this mode. It is the absolute hardest when all the bots are together and when they strategically target one person. For example, I have seen an Ernest jump ahead in incursion and got smoked in seconds. However, once there are multiple targets for the bots, it’s easy for them to get distracted and taken out by the players. And once a team starts chaining kills, the bots just consistently run in, one at a time, and die. This needs to change. Also, I have seen countless times bots kill a thrall and not capture the point, I feel like this is an easy fix.
- This could be in lieu of making these bots super strong, have them always be a counter of a player. So for every character, GBX choices 3-5 characters are you consider a counter and it gets randomly chosen from that list. Something to punish bad team comps.
- I assume if this becomes permanent, there will be the option to requeue and stay with the team. If so, consider adding OPs point to the mix. So a brand new team goes against OP 0 and a match finished is +5 and a win is an additional +5. This will also make that sweet ops gear more viable.
- A level cap. If Someone is under level 100 or something, they get no disadvantages. Above level 100, no characters that they are a master of.
- Giving bots randomized, common gear for that character. Nothing crazy, but just enough to give them a bit more umph.
- Custom titles for this mode.
- Shortened or no death timer for the bots
These are just my two (or eight) cents. I don’t really want to see them all, I just wanted to be a part of the brain storm.
I agree.
I think there was a misunderstanding with some players due to wording in our Battleplan that we had improved our Bot AI. We have not. It’s the same bot AI we’ve had in private matches for months.
OUr first step was to create a way to let you match into bot battles, which makes it harder to cheese PvP challenges. That done, we got this queue out for you guys.
If it continues to show strong support, then we’ll prioritize more work on the bots to improve them.
I think as it stands, it’s at LEAST a great place to practice with other players, learn the ropes on a new player, and learn the intricacies of a mode without having the pressure of being stomped by talented players. I think for retaining the constant stream of new players we get, this is a big win.
That’s actually a very very interesting idea. I’m going to see what it would take to do something here, because that sounds like fun to ME, especially if we add the rewards to it.
I like your other ideas as well. I very much agree if it becomes a permanent fixture it needs some UMPH to it.
If you do that would be impressive and perhaps offering bonuses for the bots as well as ops points increase to increase the challenge after many wins
Yeah, I definitely had the impression that the AI had been improved.
That said, my friends and I still had a lot of fun with it and would probably have even more fun if the AI were improved.
As far as I’m concerned, these feel like more randomized, quick ops without story elements. And that holds true even knowing that they’re essentially private matches with limited and randomized mode/map selection.
If you have the manpower, I’d definitely like to see improvements to the bot AI over the coming weeks.
I don’t know why it took so many months to finally get this
We have a limited amount of time we can focus on things at once. We juggle a lot just to try and keep up with the major requessts and issues, but in late 2016 we were pretty consumed with finishing out the Winter Upadate and the Operation missions. Now that we’re moving past that, we’re working through our next priorities.
Since Bots have always been available in private matches, we thought that would tide us over for a while.
…Totally understandable.
These bots seem to be doing so much better than the ones in private matches.
As Rath earlier a Ghalt killed me 5 times. I kept coming back to try again.
Thanks for being so responsive. It’s devs like you (and others) that make me appreciate the game much more even though I may not always agree with your decisions.
What about a setting/mode where the bots start at lv5 or even max lv10 at the beginning of the match? Their AI might not be super, but I’d imagine having to deal with Ultimates and stuff early on would be slightly more challenging than bots that you can quickly out level and then prevent from levelling up. Maybe even an auto levelling system where they level up to match the levels of players or always being several levels higher including being overlevelled much like raid bosses in Borderlands (ie bot is lv13 when the players are lv10, granting them extra health and stats)?
I would dearly love this to become a permanent thing as it makes trophy hunting far less stressful and annoying
.
Hopefully this mode is still around when Beatrix comes out - would help out alot of people to do the lore!
thx for responding, appreciate it
Does it really have to be a level up ?
With the story PvE some heroes already get a stats boost. Could this also be applied for Bots Battle?
All ai Bots get a few % more health, attack speed, attack damage, movement speed…
lol, those titles are ego pieces my man. The joy is in playing the game.
Though the integration of OPs points is genius. The toby legendary in particular is pretty useless in the ops.
If this becomes permanent, please leave the bots alone. This is a great way to introduce new players to the Versus arena. When and if players are ready, they can move on to PVP.
If titles are the sticking point, remove them. I’d gladly give up earning a title to be able to play these maps in a more casual fashion.
I got a quadra-kill as El Dragon. Just saying.
…Yup, Dragon would have done better, Rath just needed to hide for a second but it was the wrong map.
I’m doing the best as Deande so far.
Ghalt takes the mercenary thrall out fastest so I’ve been playing him too.
(Fire Ult takes them out incredibly quick.)
I like using Montana: Lumberjack dash them into the wall and unload into their heads with Hailstorm. Good, good times.
