Just so you know, the accents and humour were GBX’s idea, not 2Kaus. They followed orders from their bosses over at GBX.
Most of what was in the game was simply fan requests; the moon, the space station, the double jumping, the lasers, the grinder, playable Clappy, and playable Jack were all at the request of fans.
Hopefully, GBX has learned one thing from this: NEVER listen to the fans - they don’t know what they really want.

Well, of course. Satisfy one group, anger the other. Be complimented for listening to the fans or be ridiculed for the same reason. One side will be happy, one will be pissed.
The only thing they have in common are being fans of the same thing but they couldn’t be any more different by themselves.
TPS was a solid game. Really enjoyed Wilhelm… But man the end game is sooooo baddddd.
How so? You still have respawnable bosses and etc, I think TPS is still a lot of fun mostly cause I play with my boyfriend its just the massive lag and the constant freezing is irritating and ruining the fun. Though BL2 isn’t much better.
I suppose there just isn’t that much to do unlike BL2.
Here you only have two DLCs with new areas and the first of those is just an oversized area with admittedly good loot. The other does provide quite a lot of content, especially with glitch guns and a tough final boss.
There are also only 2 raid bosses (if we count Eclipse and EOS) and neither of them actually have exclusive loot to them besides the Sentinel’s skins. The rest can be found elsewhere.
There’s also the Mutator Arena which is probably the most difficult challenge to do at Level 9.
But what else? Most of the good loot can be found in Vendors or even grinded and there are no Pearlescents to be found which required farming specific enemies (and sometimes TOO specific).
That’s how I see it at least. It used to be much worse of course but compared to BL2 with 4 Story and 5 HeadHunter DLCs, Digistruct Peak and 8 Raid Bosses there isn’t that much to do unfortunately.
I can’t really judge how people play the endgame for themselves though, just looking at it from the sidelines. And I am suuuuuuper lonely.

New game mechanics were solid and so was the new ice element. I was happy to see the slag go to make way for ice and laser. The feeling I have about the game is the context of the whole story felt constrained in two ways. The first is that it starts after BL1 and ends before BL2 so we kinda know the endpoints of the journey. The second is that the moon and the environment confined the story and they did not experiment enough to push the limits of what is possible. The game felt like two environments, outside with the same enemies over and over and inside with the same enemies over and over. I miss the dramatic dynamic that Goliath’s added to the game and so on. They did have a good idea but they really needed to commit to it in a big way to get people on board but instead they held back and as a result not many people warmed up to it. When you compare what they have done in TPS with what they are putting into Battleborn it makes me wonder if they should have even bothered with TPS in the first place and just kept the better ideas for BL3 later. I guess they decided to pull back with TPS at some point and this shows in what was delivered and makes me wonder if they have run out of steam with the BL franchise. Why have so many key people left at the time BL3 was announced.

I am quite obsessed with Disgaea (D2) right now and I’ve wanted to play Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the new World for quite some time so I know :3 Well, I know quite a bit about Japanese games in general.
…But I am getting off-topic here. I just can’t help but be excited about cute stuff like that.
But wait, I actually liked a lot of those things, and I didn’t ask for any of them. Well, maybe not for fighting the space station but…
I like them too! I like the game, though - clearly a lot of people do not like it. My point was that the game is the way it is because of decisions made by GBX. Everyone likes to blame 2KAus for TPS’ “failings” - but they were just doing as they were told!
The fan-based ideas came from GBX. Read any of the articles published during production and the theme is a constant one of ‘fan service’. It was billed as ‘a love letter to fans’. Which it was. But then the same fans lambasted it. BlackHeart put it nicely - the only thing ‘fans’ have in common is liking BL. Apart from that they are a diverse bunch, from the modding Youtube raiders through to hardcore purists who’d never even use an exploit, let alone a hack.
You can’t please everybody. So don’t try - just go for your vision. The cynic in me says that they tried all these ideas in this game because it was never gonna be a mega-hit. It was a safe way to test things out for BL3.
we better get double jumping back though. even if its slightly less awesome atmo double jumping. It is now a need.
The pre sequel is one of my all time favorite games. Such a beautiful and fun game. Never understood how you can be a borderlands fan and not like the pre sequel. Has some of the coolest features, mechanics, characters, and gear out of all three games.

Yea but now with over 30 enemies to farm for unique drops, all the builds to try, mutator arena, holodome, farming for glitch gear, and just mobbing. The pre sequel has a nice endgame in my opinion. When it first game out it did not.
True, I just prefer TPS to BL2 for a few things like better mobility due to OZ Kits, better story involvement due to the playable characters talking (makes me feel like a part of the story instead of a floating gun with BL1 and BL2 made me feel like prior to Dragon Keep), and a less boring UVHM (BL2’s felt tedious and dull, not actually challenging to me).
It’s a shame though, I would be satisfied with TPS completely if we had Pearlescent rarity a raid Boss like Hyperius sans the bullet deflecting crap, but as it is I’m happy to just have an Ultimate mode that doesn’t make me want to watch paint dry over playing it.

I do say that the gameplay itself is the best yet but I feel that the story kept interfering with that too much. In a game that you will replay many, many times having to listen to the same conversations forcing you to stop with said gameplay and just aimlessly wander around until it’s over is very tiring, especially Gladstone’s 2 1/2 minute dialogue.
I do agree that talking characters makes the game feel more alive and those conversations don’t really force you to stop, Jack and the scientists are involved.
I’d really love to see Pearls here too. Some returning (especially the Butcher. I love that thing and with Cryo instead of Slag it would be even better overall) and some new ones and I’d happier.
A great Raid boss would be welcome (my favorite is Vermivorous actually. I LOVE that design and that it allows us to use the terrain incredibly well. Maybe too well sometimes). I do like the Invincible Sentinel but he’s just too easy and that cutscene each and every time >.>

I so share your opinions with T.I.S. though… The only thing close to a challenge (or being annoying) there are the Guardians running around like semi-aggressive squirrels.
I hate fighting grounded Guardians, they don’t.
