Gaige build idea from someone who is new to Gaige

I wasn’t thinking for me. BSS has my shields being up covered. I was thinking more so for DT. The one I gave Pie had a 2 second delay. Consensus is, that doesn’t matter though. So excited to be getting this all worked out in theory. One of my favorite things about this game!

Sweet!! I’ll shoot you a message when I am on to grab the hide for now. Thanks again, buddy. I love this board!!

About the delay, it is actually better. This way, the shield protects DT health bar so it can stay alive longer. The shield is going to be depleted by the time it arrives to deliver the melee hit, so it is good if the shield can protect DT between travels.

If his health bar disappears before his timer runs out, he’ll vanish until you can call him again.

If you take the roid shield, you may as well take With Claws any way. With no anarchy stacks you can do this

With some stacks built up you can do some pretty good melee damage. Also gives you an incentive to get more stacks, and rewards you for keeping DT out longer for more upshot robot. Could be worth a look.

Agreed

Found this one out the hard way last night when I hit a barrage of exp loaders going through bloodshot, haha

Pretty good incentive to work with claws in if I am going for a Hide as my main sheild

Hope you don’t mind me using your thread to ask for help.
I’m also pretty new to Gaige myself. I was wondering if this is a good build for death trap to do good damage while I also have decent anarchy.

I’d put a point in Robot Rampage, as it is one of his few skills, in my opinion, with which he can regularly kill enemies in UVHM (especially with Make It Sparkle and some Gorillas on deck). His other skills are very reliable killers when they work in their niche (part of which is against weakened or low-level enemies). The Stare, for example, totally wastes flesh targets if you slag them ahead of time (and he can’t miss), but if you need Deathtrap to kill it, Robot Rampage gets the job done.

Maybe 1 point out of unstoppable force and put it in robot rampage. Don’t really want to take the stare.

If you’ve got the time and inclination, give The Stare a spin some time (leave out all his other skills so he focuses on that skill most). Go somewhere like Three Horns Valley/Divide, Tundra Express, The Forest, maybe even Caustic Caverns, pre-slag the targets, and see how well it does. What’s nice about it is that it doesn’t miss - enemies can’t run or hide behind cover (where with his melee skills, they just have to move a little and he’ll totally whiff). Again, only fleshy targets, but it’s surprisingly good.

As I say that, I’m going to take him for a spin through Caustic Caverns with just The Stare right now. We’ll dodge the Crystalisks, and if any Varkids make it to Badass versions, I’ll take care of them, but he should be able to cook everything else.

I’ll have to try that. Thanks.

If I come back all bruised and bandaged up, don’t try it.

edit - Varkids can “hide” in their pods… when they’re podded up, Deathtrap switches to his weaker shock beam and wastes time on them in that manner, giving them a “free” upgrade. If I don’t hold his hand in maintaining the mob levels, he’ll get overwhelmed. Let’s see how he stares down Threshers.

2nd edit - Buck Up fills my entire shield (where did I see it say it only filled 30%?). Still sketchy because it pulls him out of combat, but it did tank me through some Varkid attacks.

3rd edit - he also won’t use The Stare against flying enemies or Threshers

4th edit - Diseased Spiderants are just big enough that, if they’re at basically at full health, Deathtrap can barely kill them (even if they’re slagged). If you nick their health at all though, he can finish them off. Everything bigger than that he can’t Stare down; everything smaller he can kill with the Stare. Also, he tried to hit me with the Stare once. Jerk.

I’d go with this and give DT a good roid shield, like a LT, HoT, or Punchee. The Better Half really helps out with DPS and More Pep is basically useless unless you put points into IO. With a roid shield, DT can tear through mobs on OP 8, especially if you slag them first (a slag healing grenade works great for this).

That’s rad!! The skill description says it refills 30%, but maybe it’s 30% of the time.

Not at all, buddy!

Since you are speccing into LBT and BFF mainly, maybe move the points from typecast iconoclast around. One in Shock and Aghhhhhhh, one in robot rampage, and one in preshrunk cyber punk. That would give you anarchy, Shock and aghhhhh would pair with WDT (plus im guessing you’d be using a shock bone which would further help it), and Robot Rampage for the extra DT boost.

Pie, if you want a DT/Anarchy build, go with the 26/26/15 spec geting Robot Rampage.
Robot Rampage is by far the best skill you can give him outside the capstones.

Is the better half worth it when using guns like the twister, storm, and t-ball fist.
Also I figured the base amount of anarchy was enough since I’m trying to let DT be the main damage dealer.

Here’s my improved build idea

In all honesty I shoot way to much to benefit from IO.
@l_gabrielcruz how does that look.

Last patch made it 100%, it was 30% before.

Still not worth it IMO: the more options you give DT, the more likely he is to do the wrong thing (like fill your shield repeatedly while you’re in FFYL instead of killing something)

With BSS it’s redundant IMO.
