I was playing my first Battelborn game in Private Match versus AI. I was doign well. The game was telling me I was gaining XP, ranking up my character etc.
When I was finished I got to the Results Screen and
I got nothing.
No level increases.
No XP.
Nothing.
I played an entire match and wasn’t rewarded.
I thought this was a bug being a beta and all. However I saw when I selected a Private match in itty bity writing:
“Challenge progress cannot be gained in private matches. Players recieve no experience or currency.”
Are you kidding me?
If you are marketing your Solo Mode in the game as a viable option to play Battleborn then you should get the same XP, unlocks, full support of the Progression System, etc as if I played a Public game. Also If I don’t get access to the Progression System playing a Solo private Match in bots why do I need to be connected to the Servers if its needed for the Progression System, a system I can’t use?
The official reason for this oversight seems to be you dont’ want players to “cheese xp with AI.”
But other games, from your own Publisher and from your competitors, offer this as a Feature/Selling Point for their games:
-Evolve, a game published by the same company publishing Battleborn, lets you gain unlocks and xp in it Solo mode.
-Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2: has a similiar Progression System to Battleborn and playing Solo matches you get the full XP and Unlocks as you would playing multiplayer.
-Company of Heroes 2: You can play maps vs all AI and still gain XP for Unlocks.
-Mortal Kombat X: You get Gold/XP for every Single Player Mode (Towers, Single Matches, etc) you play as well as playing MP.
-Paragon: Offers games vs all AI bots and you get xp/unlocks from those matches
-Heroes of the Storm: you can play with all bots and get XP and level up your characters.
By refusing to have having this fundamental option in your game, Battleborn to me looks unattractive and outdated.
Maybe you guys will fix this. But from where I am standing the Overwatch Beta coming out next month looks much more appealing.
Thansk for listening.
