Oh I see. I feel like a good balance for her would be to be able to chase people away from the front lines, but not be able to chase them down to their side of the map for the kill. I feel like itā€™s easy to try to play her as an assassin because the stun is something that would usually be on an assassin, but the rest of her kit isnā€™t really made for that role, so without being more powerful than every other character she canā€™t really do assassin quite as well as say Phoebe. Unfortunately it seems as though she has been balanced to be an effective assassin, thus making her way too powerful.

When I get free time (might be a while, itā€™s gonna be a busy week) Iā€™m gonna try and take her and then rath into a private match to check out the actual numbers. I feel like overall Galileaā€™s stats should be a tad lower than Rathā€™s because she has much more powerful abilities to rely on. Near the end of the open beta Iā€™m gonna post a thread on all my character balancing-related thoughts, so Iā€™ll either post my findings there or on this thread. Maybe both because if it takes a lot of time, I definitely want to get as much mileage out of it as possible :joy:

PS: Entirely unrelated question about the forums: whenever there are new posts in a thread, an orange number shows up showing how many posts are in the tread, but sometimes thereā€™s also a grey number, or just a grey number showing the number of posts. Why are some posts counted with a grey number and other posts are counted with an orange number.

in my opinion the only thing that really needs to be changed on Galilea is how long her stun lasts. Itā€™s ridiculous that she can hit you with her shield from fairly long ranges and be in your face attacking you before you come out of the stun.

So my main is galilea and Iā€™ve seen some good players get around me and my second main is benidict and he is her hard counter
He takes to the sky so her fields donā€™t hurt him and her shield only blocks what is informer of her. Hitting her with a full on barrage from all sides means sheā€™s either going to have to fight you and suffer from your team or fight your team and suffer from you.
She sucks at a range too as long as you are out of her fields she canā€™t hurt you except with a shield toss cross the map
A good Oscar mike wrecks her down range and gets away before I reach him and rinse repeat
She isnā€™t op just nobody fight her right like said before she is the
Gladiator at home in her ring
I think of her as Wonder Woman
When she is in her field with her curse up your good as dead but if you fight her outside of her zone and wear her down she canā€™t fight back her self heals come from the passive so stay out and gg unless they speck into the desecrate that heals too
Otherwise thatā€™s a waste of ult to just regen health
Basically to beat her you stay back
She pushes you and you lead her away and bait her she chases then you run so you slowly wear out that shield if she throws it then itā€™s gone unless she can pick it up ptherwise there is your opening to strike fast before she gets her stacks up
Hit her fast then back away again so she loses stacks so no more aoe dps then bam rinse and repeat
Sheā€™s honestly not that bad you just need to stay out of her reach

OP doesnā€™t mean sheā€™s invincible. Even though there is a counter she is still too powerful. First of all, if you donā€™t have a Benedict on your team, youā€™re rolled. The main thing to consider is that if there is a character that can only be beaten using specific strategies or by a much more experience player, it is still too powerful. While you may be able to beat a Galilea because you are more skilled than the person playing Galilea, if someone of equal skill were to try and fight her, they would probably lose.

But thatā€™s the point of her character sheā€™s meant to be that way
You have to fight her differently then everyone else and people flip because they canā€™t just charge her and expect to win
You have to fight her the right way if you donā€™t you lose.

Copying this from another topic about Galilea I commented on.

In regards to Galilea, I main her and she could use a bit of a nerf in the sense of her basic attack could do less damage, Iā€™d say in the range of -20%. Her other abilities are honestly fine since she is supposed to be a support tank. Melee heavy group? Roll full health regen/slow/vortex desecrate build. Enemy team is caster? silence/vortex/+movement speed.

I just hit level 8 with her and I believe its level 7 that she unlocks a mutation that increases her attack speed up to 35% at full corruption. Absolutely disgusting with her current base damage, especially if the other team is mostly melee. I went 19-1 on a melee heavy team last night. I feel she is in the right spot as an annoying support/harassing tank ability wise. She just needs that base damage reduced by a fair bit.

Galilea is someone you are supposed to focus when she pushes or your team gets locked down. A good benedict/orendi can wreck her though. Especially benedict, who I loooooove and is my second choice to play for his mobility.

A mutation I think she can do without is the +30% movement speed on shield throw hit. It makes the BBs who counter her have incredibly hard time getting away. Unless you are benedict.

I also think people would understand her more if they played her a bit and learned her weaknesses that way they know how to counter her. A lot of people are impatient and try to run in face first on her, which is bad. Unless you are good with Rath you are going to have a bad time. When Iā€™m playing as Gally and I see Marquis/Thorn in the distance, Iā€™m not going to rush them in a straight line. Thats just stupid, Iā€™d get melted.

some characters were meant to counter others, I just feel like Galilea is what every melee character should have been. She is the only one that can catch range characters.

Even after Phoebeā€™s nerf, it was generally accepted that Phoebe and Rath were the most powerful characters in the CTT. Iā€™m not in the open beta yet, but Iā€™m curious to see what has changed for you to say that melee is so weak.

Thatā€™s a good point about sheā€™s what every melee should be. Maybe not as OP but I think most melee should have a slow or stun of some kind.

I personally felt that Phoebe and Rath are pretty well balanced rn.

Sheā€™s supposed to be if you get in her circles yes
She would be weak as a box of rocks without her passive and desicrate so if you avoid them then bam you can beat her

But thatā€™s not the point. As someone said earlier, just because a character can be beaten, doesnā€™t mean that the character isnā€™t overpowered. You shouldnā€™t absolutely HAVE to avoid her special attacks in order to survive, which isnā€™t the case for any other character. She needs a nerf, big time.

You have to avoid any of raths moves to win against him or have a stun or silence of your own to survive but he isnā€™t overpowered

Guys as mentioned before she is supposed to be nearly unbeatable if fought mindlessly and inside her desecrate (as vdhump is saying), yet currently she does not even need her desecrate in order to achieve this degree of strength (like what everyone else is trying to say). Soā€¦ Buff desecrate and nerf everything else about her, with the exception of her mobility/utility (the stun)ā€¦ (Maybe on the stunā€¦ If so then a very small nerf). Hopefully this gave some clarity?

Just had an incursion against a Galilea that went at least 12 and 0 without using any battle gear at all except for a sprint speed increase.

She does need some major looking at.
