Kind of off topic, you should make one under Ghalt’s topic. The buff they gave him during the beta was pretty heavy handed along with Kleese’s sniper cannon doing 500 damage a hit.
Why are people still crying about this, those are huge Nerfs IMO, and it’s the 2nd time she has, every character has an advantage someway or another and Galilea is in no way impossible to play, I’m a Galilea player (Master Of infact) and I know how to play her well, it doesn’t mean that I don’t get killed in one on one situations from time to time, she really doesn’t need any further “looking at” get over it…there’s a very noticeable difference to her damage following last nights hotfix, enough is enough or they may as well remove her from the game to please everybody who’s crying because they got smacked to the ground by a Galilea at some point.
I’m glad to see the nerfs, they were needed. They nerfed her during open beta but it’s been clear playing these past few days that she is still ridiculously strong and dealing with Galilea always becomes the focus of any game she is in. I’m glad for the nerfs in the hotfix but think she should lose the pull and silence, or maybe just one of them. I mean, seriously, is there anything Galilea doesn’t do? I’d love to have been in whatever meeting GBX had when they designed her because I have no idea what they were thinking with Galilea. A tank who buffs her attack damage, has super strong melee, ranged, and a whole suite of cc abilities? Who thought this was going to be a good idea?
My understanding is they could only do some tweaks in a hotfix and the rest are waiting for a patch that needs to be certified by Sony and Microsoft. Does anyone have any idea if the hotfix is already live? I played last night and I don’t think it was, but I’m not sure.
Don’t really understand people being upset about her being nerfed, it’s obvious she needs it. She can take just about anyone 1v1 and again, any game she’s in she quickly becomes the focus of. No one is saying she is impossible to kill, she isn’t. She is insanely hard to kill, has an overstuffed kit, and deals out massive damage though. Don’t want to make her useless but there’s no need for her to be the most powerful character in the game with every power in the game either. There’s pretty much no other character which represents such a threat.
She still does too much dmg with her primary especially when she can sprint while attacking. Need to get rid of sprint attack, people are just using mobility gear so you can never get away from her. She’s fine when you fight her when she’s not with a full pre formed group, but when communicating with her team and with a miko she is almost impossible to kill. The mobility gear gives her too easy an escape and too easy a chase when constantly being healed by OP healer miko.
The pull and silence are ok, just need to get away from her is the problem. The pull is OK because only the tankier front liners should be getting pulled, you’re not positioning yourself correctly if youre a squishy back liner and getting pulled
The issue is that her kit is very bloated and in comparison no other character has the assassination potential + CC that she has. Yes you can beat her and yes she has her counters but you can’t give a character everything but the kitchen sink and expect them not to get hit with the nerf bat.
That being said i think the next patch where they remove her attacking while sprinting and lingering affect on her pool will very much bring her in line with some of the other characters. I understand how you feel since i love El Dragon but i very much like where he is now since I had to agree he had WAY to much damage and mobility going for him.
don’t get me wrong, I know she has it all, part of why I loved her, other than her looks lol, and I agree there needs to be some nerfing involved, I’m just concerned as in my experience when things get nerfed (in other games I’ve played) it completely changes them and makes some unplayable. the no sprint and slash thing maybe alright, but being a primarily melee character it would be very frustrating being unable to close the distance or catch up with an enemy who can back peddle and keep enough distance while simple unloading a clip into me, time will tell I guess. The damage nerf is done already in the hotfix so I don’t have to worry about that, I was still putting out good damage in PVE/PVP last night after it so I’m happy with that, I’m litreally half a level from level 15 with her and getting the master of Galilea title, hoping it doesn’t end up being a waste if she gets FUBARED is all, as you surely felt with El Dragon, which being said, looks cool and I fancy giving him a go lol
You still have your stun for the gap closer as well as a pull to keep them in.
This just gives them more options if they do get away so i don’t see any issues with it.
Hope you keep playing her even with the nerfs since i do like her character and what she brings to the team.
yeah, they’re not done with her yet, this is just another attempt at getting her down closer to where she needs to be. They’ve still got several “problems” in her kit that they’re planning on addressing.
The big change I saw is her dying attempting to pull her usual “I can just run right into these three people by myself and be okay” junk.
Every single other melee character in the game has to deal with this… and most of them don’t have a pull, or a silence, or a 2 second stun in their kit by default.
She’ll be fine.
The pullback depends if you use the mutagen, I do use it but the distance isn’t too great, and knowing the nerfing and the complaining i bet the distance of that will be reduce too. as for the shield yea of course I know that.
I can’t seem e giving up on her as I’ve invested too much into her lol, almost 100% complete on her, but once I am done I occasionally play another character to level them up and for a change of scene.
in fairness, I hadn’t considered other melee characters, but then again I haven’t played as any and don’t know their abilities, so perhaps you have a point, I rarely use the silence mutagen anyway btw. but that only applies for someone who stands in the clear black mist on the floor lol, easily avoided, then again some people dont have the logic to stand out of it >.>
Yes I agree, her attack while sprinting should never had been implemented. She’s the only character that has it and she’s supposed to be a territorial tank, not a face rolling devastating abyssal machine of death.
Well all melee characters have some kind of CC: Slows, stuns, etc., to help them get their damage off, so for most you’re going to be relying heavily on that, plus any movement speed/sprint gear you load.
Galilea not only had plenty of CC in her kit with all of her tools, but she was also the only one that could sprint after them while swinging, which really makes no sense with as many tools as she has.
Most characters only have one real “I’ve got you” tool, maybe two, but she had three solid ones (pull/silence, sprint while swinging, stun) that alone really calls for one to be taken away.
They’ve said they intend to patch the CC on her desecrate (it’ll only apply on drop now, not continually) so it won’t make as big of a difference if people have to walk into it, and they’re taking away the sprint attack thing.
Honestly, I like all of the steps they’re taking. I really like G, but I can’t bring myself to play her because I realize how stacked her kit is compared to others, but I think those changes will balance her out with the rest of the melee characters.
I think this forum has it out for Gailea. I mean it’s a witchhunt at this point. I have a problem relating to people who instinctively start crying for nerfs because what most people claim as OP is just them not figuring out how to fight her. Not to say that her damage wasn’t worth looking into. I’m just glad Gearbox seems to be nerfing/normalizing based on their own criteria of intended performance and not the crazy ■■■■ I see demanded here on these forums.
I mean all of this glorious OP crowd control that’s bemoaned is on a stationary burn patch. Don’t fight her there. Her stun isn’t an auto hit. Dodge it. Kite her. Adjust.
A constructed pre-made coordinated team composition by its very nature is going to be better than a random PUG. Acting like that’s somehow Galilea’s fault is ridiculous. Miko healboting is super effective for a lot of characters.
Gal was my favorite character in the Beta back before any of this and I hate to see her nerfed into the ground.
She has a silence field that keeps you silent as long as you are in it, a pull to pull you in and that means no skill for escape until you escape (?!) guys - she’s too much. I can’t understand why folks still don’t see it, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
… and a stun to keep you in it…
isic didn’t deserve the 50% shield strength nerf it should have been like a 25% nerf. I didn’t think of him as such a huge problem that he broke the game and prevented my ability to fairly win a match. On the other hand miko and gal ilea did.
The silence field is stationary and the pull mutation has a range on it. She’s not sucking / silencing in a Marquis, Oscar Mike, etc blasting her face at range. This isn’t a fighting game where there’s all of these strictly 1v1 encounters that happen in a vacuum.
It’s a dynamic team based game and yeah if you try and 1v1 Gal with certain characters without thinking first, you’re getting face rolled. You’re supposed to get face rolled. It’s balanced like that. Melee characters vs Gal need to know the match up and hopefully have teammates watching their back.
And her shield stun takes precision to aim and hopefully you’re teammates are watching your back (ie who Gal is targeting) That’s not Gals fault if the team is playing sloppy. It just emphasizes that “hey, you might want to try a little teamwork.”
The pull mutation can suck them off of ledges that they’d normally be safe on, in fact it’ll fling them off and far across the map.
It does not take precision, its an easy skill to land.
