Hello,
I have a problem that my game always crashes on the claptrap dance.
I haven’t been able to get further than that, so I couldn’t even change options.
I use Windows 7 which doesn’t support DX12, so I can eliminate that problem.
I restarted my PC several times, updated my PC with the newest updates but that didn’t work.
I also updated the Epic Games Launcher, updated the game and even reinstalled the game but still nothing works.
There is no Error message pop-up but rather a System error pop-up that Borderlands 3 has stopped working.
No solution posted by anyone else has fixed the problem and I don’t know what else to do now…
Go to Documents/My Games and open the Borderlands 3 folder. Open GameUserSettings.ini in notepad and find the “PreferredGraphicsAPI”. Just change this setting to “PreferredGraphicsAPI=DX11” and the game will switch to DirectX 11 and will launch.

Thanks for the reply, but it’s already set to DX11 and I couldn’t change it to DX12 since Win7 doesn’t support DX12, so that doesn’t help solving the problem.
Like I said, I tried every method people posted here but nothing helped so far.

I’m having the same issue, updated bios, drivers, not the DX12 issue, reinstalled game among every other thing I could find.

I had the same issue. After trying everything that I could think of I upgraded to Windows 10 and it works now! You can upgrade on Microsoft’s website for free https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Damn thank you for this. That actually worked for me too now.
I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and now I can finally play the game.
Just gonna hope not to encounter any other problems like other players have aswell. x)

Hello, MasterGroudon! I have been in the same boat, whereas in my case, claptrap stops exactly in the third pass every time and the game freezes. I don’t know why this is happening, for I have a 64 bit card with 32 gigs of ram. I’ve tried the DX12 fix, but no dice.
It’s very hard! Please help… I want to play the game I spent $60 on.
its weird . you digging a post from abyss instead of make a new one :0
but if he keep dancing. that mean its loading and adjust . that not crash except he stop dancing
