Game gives initialization error always I’ve tried reinstalling the game at least 5 times, deleted all possible related files, including saves, deleted cache, emptied recycle, deleted cloud files; everything. The game still gives me the same initialization error every time. Can anyone please help me?
Bypass the launcher: find the .exe file and use that via a shortcut instead.
I’ve tried that and it didn’t fix the issue for me

You could try this:
Just had a bout of the game deciding to instantly CTD the second I started it through Steam, and when started directly via BorderlandsGOTY.exe it worked perfectly fine. So I figured since it starts the Launcher first, I checked everything out and looked in the save directory in the documents for launcher settings:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\my games\Borderlands Game of the Year\LauncherData

Does anyone know how to get past this error. I was literally playing the game a few hours ago, shut off my computer, and now anytime i try and boot it up, i get this. Ive tried to validate files multiple times, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times.
EDIT: Fixed the issue by deleting the “Borderlands Game Of The Year” folder inside the “My Games” folder in Documents, not entirely sure what caused the issue to start with
I think there’s also a way of launching the game directly from within Steam using the contextual menu?
I’ll test these out. Thank you.
