Game informer video rips on this game

PVP focused game…
Releases a review that only talks about PVE…

I used to like game informer but their bias towards whichever companies pay them the most made me lose what little respect I had for their work. When they had a cover page and story for Destiny’s DLC instead of ANY new game I dropped it entirely.

Yea most of the game review companies are corrupt.

Can’t say I blame you there. I used to really like the magazine at one point, but magazines just aren’t that relevant anymore, anyway.

This isn’t the only review that has said stuff that’s ridiculous, btw. Destructoid said Meltdown was so similar to Incursion it might as well not exist (because both mades have you marching minions along a path). I guess every mode in every shooter ever made that requires you to…shoot things shouldn’t exist either rolleyes

Most reviews are terrible these days. Too many reviewers like to hear themselves talk and go on and on about what they like or don’t like, which is irrelevant to me. I want info to help decide if I will like it. I could care less if they do.

I lost a good chunk of respect for them when they were bashing Tales From the Borderlands in the freaking preview. Well… not bashing, but certainly weren’t doing their job hyping it.

Yeah, I noticed that too. ‘something doesn’t click’ is not great reviewing.

Well that was…brutal. I’ve seen some less than stellar reviews, but this was clearly the worst.

Surprising but the comment section is also really bad. Hate all over this game. Why?

Good question. Most of the haters are just blindly following what the guys saying and hating on in the video.

Hating seems to be the new ignoring. I ignore things that does not interest me or that I dislike… Ignoring has benefits.

Seems to be a new kind of groupsport were the leading captain/streamer earns likes while everyone else has a great time hating random things.

Also: One of the most biased game reviews I ever endured.

…although I actually agree with some of their comments about the game, such as some really bad design in how the single player missions operate. The guys on the video could have expressed it differently, though.

I think he makes plenty of valid points. The pve “story” missions ended up being a huge let down. There’s no character or world connection. I’m more concerned with the people here defending it. I have hopes that there will be tweaks made over the next few months making this game more enjoyable, but that’s not likely to happen if there are people still clinging to the idea that this game is perfect as it is

I hope reviewers are playing advanced hardcore story after they get a grip on the battleborn. It’s so intense and frustrating and satisfying.

Yea he does make some good points. And the games story missions did disappoint me. But he also just straight up hates on things and says things that aren’t true. Or talks like he barely played it, or took the time to understand everything. The game is alot of fun and has alot of potential. But at the same time disappointing in some ways. The guy just is ridiculous in some of the things he says.

I am willing to be $20 that Game Informer was paid by Blizzard to trash-talk the game.

Anyone else?

Haha i wouldn’t be surprised

I don’t take losing bets

Oh, yeah… Don’t get me wrong, I can tell that he didn’t take the time to get the hang of the game or really delve into it enough to understand that some of his complaints were unfounded. That’s to be expected of most game reviewers however. But in saying that, he gives a decent idea of how most people who didn’t play the beta and have a good idea of what they were purchasing will probably respond to this game. It can be difficult to understand everything that is going on, the game doesn’t explain what’s going on in pve missions well enough to feel any connection to the story, you can (and I have) spend over an hour on a single mission only to have it fail and be a waste of time. I still think that they tried something new with this MOBA-esque FPS with campaign pve and pvp, gear loadouts, helix skills, in game levelling, and character level progression. I commend their effort on trying something new, but it feels to me like they tried to be a jack of all trades and master at none. I don’t even like pvp that much but I find myself playing more of incursion matches because the campaign feels like more effort than it’s worth.

And that’s really my biggest gripe. This game’s PvE campaign was based around PvP far too much for my liking, so maybe I just bought a game that at the end of the day I just don’t like. But I’d still like to see changes made in the future and I don’t think posting a negative review and calling the guy out for just being a “hater” is going to help that.

I wouldn’t say perfect by any means, but I’ve enjoyed the campaign. I believe their objective was to make the episodes feel discrete, so I think they accomplished what they wanted, but I can totally understand wishing they were more “connected”.
