Game is good, Matchmaking and related are crappity crap crap crap

So, I like a lot about the game. Battleborn has a lot of unique and interesting characters, fun game generated dialogues, and generally it’s just a good time to play. Except…

I hate the matchmaker. Particularly the public story matchmaker, because the VS. matchmaker hasn’t actually worked enough times for me to have an opinion (the last time I tried, I was put in a match, waited about 5 minutes in total for it to find teams and give everyone an eon to select their character, and then half of them all dc’d and it kicked us out of the match due to insufficient players). There desperately needs to be some tools to refine your desired mission parameters, because, no, I really do not want to do the Algorithm or the Renegade for the 7th time in a row. Give me some control over this so I can at least select a mission or grouping of missions I’d be willing to do instead of constantly getting cycled into one of the first three missions over, and over, and over. I spent $90 on this game including the season pass, I’ve had it two days, and I’m already seriously considering taking the $15 Gamestop is offering for used copies, which sucks, because I would really love this game if I had more control over which parts of it I actually get to play.

Right now, this game is a lot like Evolve - if I have four existing friends available to play, I have a great time. However, if like most human beings my friends have jobs/families/school/whatever, I just can’t enjoy it if I’m trying to play it by myself. I can’t even recall the last time I was so frustrated by a game, particularly because the game is so close to being excellent, but then it has these gigantic hurdles to enjoyment that are solely a function of a matchmaking system that feels like an afterthought despite being a central mechanic of playing the freaking game. The matchmaking tools desperately need to be refined ASAP, or this is going to be another game in the discount bin before it even sees the close of its first quarter.
