First 2 days after launch were beautiful for me. not a single crash. after the first update I am also getting crashes every 10 to 30 minutes.
Zen 2 2700x
1080ti
32gb ram
running DX12 with everything maxed out, motion blur off.
nvidia driver didn’t change anything. Game either just closes or the crash box comes up but give zero information as to what ahppened. event viewer also doesn’t give any information.
I’m actually going to try and go back to my earlier NV driver. the newest one seems to really make it worse.
I have nothing else running, it practically a clean win 10 install. it wasn’t crashing until after one of the game updates.
I would switch back to DX11. I had nothing but issue with DX12 and Nvidia hardware. I had the same issue in TheDivision 2 and DX12. Once I switch back to DX11, everything was back to normal.
Edit : I wonder if the issue is related to cloud save. Can you disable cloud save and try again ?

Same issue
Z97 MB
4790K not overclocked
16gb mem
1080
Bios is up to date
Latest Nvidia drivers
Nothing running in the background, all other stuff shut down
No AV other than Windows
PC is not overheating
Ran with MSI overlay and could see ram and gpu mem were not maxed
CPU temps running in the 50’s
CPU not maxed on usage, video card was but that is normal
No crashes or issues in anything else I play or do on this PC
Crashes at 1080p and 4K, runs just fine at 4K until it suddenly crashes to desktop
There are multiple reports of CTD in every forums out there for BL3, and so far that I have found no reply from Gearbox nor anyone with a proven fix.
First 4 hours played fine. Next day, CTD anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour, but it happens every time
Sad thing is I bought from an online retailer, so I’m not going to try and make them refund me. GB needs to at least address what is going on. These crashes are happening on a wide variety of systems and randomly.
Since the crashes are so random and on so many different PC spec, I suspect the issue is something around Denuvo calling home not getting through or Cloud Save on EPIC side. If the game is unable at at specific time to save on EPIC Cloud services, it crashed the game. If Denuvo is unable to call home to verify it’s authenticity, crashed the game. Or it’s possible there is a program running on your Windows machine that Denuvo thinks is harmful and close the application.
Now I am not a Denuvo hater but at this point I am starting to wonder myself if this is not part of the issue. It’s the randomness of the crashes that really makes me wonder. If this is the case, don’t expect any real answer form GBS or Epic, they will hide the fix in the patch notes as “improve system stability”.
That being said, I wouldn’t rule out Cloud save as the culprit. Click on the settings icon and disable cloud save and come back to use to see if the game still crashes.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION FOR ALL
Hi Guys,
I’ve been in the exact same situation, I’ve update everything, BIOS, Drivers, Game, Epic Launcher. The game was refusing to load my game and I was unable to run the benchmark completly even with different settings.
I was on the verge to give up and ask for a refund but then I found inside the borderlands 3 directory some prerequite for Unreal Engine 4. And now it work like a charm !
You can find the file you need to install inside :
\Epic Games\Borderlands3\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us\UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe
After installing that and rebooting I was able to run the game and do the benchmark regarding graphics setting.
I hope this can help you guys

I’m on a brand new 970 Evo Plus with a fresh Windows install, and I am constantly crashing, too. I can play for 5-10 minutes tops, and sometimes I even crash when launching the game. I’ve tried nvidia drivers 436.30, 436.15, and 436.02. I’ve tried everything suggested in this thread so far. Has anyone found a real solution to the constant crashing?

I recently upgraded my computer and have run every possible stress test and played many other games and not had any crashes. Running an i9-9900KF, 2080 RTX, 32GB RAM. I’ve gone to the extent of completely reformatting my computer and only using my m.2 samsung evo drive with only this game installed. Updating every possible driver and BIOS, and playing with every possible setting to see what works. In the last 3 days I have crashed 30+ times in 18 or so hours of game play.
Not sure what to do at this point or if there’s really anyone who will help. Just about to give up on this game even though i love it when it actually works. It’s to the point now where I’m grossly over leveled from having to go back and re-kill everything after a crash and now the play through is pretty much a walk through with no challenge. This really has ruined this game for me.
I’ll be watching this thread in hopes someone has a cure for this disease…

The problem is not on your end. The game was released half baked and needs to go back into the oven. Open a ticket at 2k and let them know you are having problems and are disappointed. They need to patch this game up It is unplayable in its current state.

I would advise people NOT to change from DX11 to DX12. Many people who do this (including me) make the problem worse after making this change…namely, upon trying to launch BL3, the game will not load past the Claptrap dancing screen.
This forum has another thread full of people that are stuck on an infinite loop of Claptrap dancing after trying DX12.

Been crashing non-stop randomly since launch and tried various steps to stop it but to no avail… until last night when I disabled cloud saves and I managed to have a 4 hour session with no crashes at all, worth a try if you’re still getting them.

Hey guys! I tried everything, game still freezing and then crashing after 5-10m with Nvidia GeForce GTX 770. This is not a solution, but for me works switch the video card to my old Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti, drivers 436.30. No freezing/crashing after 5h
