Has anyone done this from this thread. I tried it and played for an hour but it was when I went to sanctuary for the first time so there was a lot of scenes and dialogue without much gameplay. So no crash yet. I’ve been able to play for an hour and half before so I’m not sold that it’s 100% working yet. I’ll test more tomorrow.

Since my first message I’ve got some crash !
I’ve find on NVIDIA Forum that some user has the same issue, game crashing randomly, and a user report that he has no crash with NVIDIA Driver 431.60.
I"ve try that and instead of jumping to this forum reporting a possible fix, I’ve play for much longer that last time, in fact I’ve play for 6h and I haven’t got any crash for now, before I was getting crash even on login.
I would recommand downloading NVIDIA Driver 431.60 on NVIDIA Website and do a fresh install.
Just so you know I still have some random FPS drop but not like freezing and no crash.
Hope this can help

So I’ve managed to finally resolve the freezing issue. I switched from DX11 to DX12. When switching i thought, like lots of others did, that i had an endless loop of claptrap rolling and dancing across my screen. Turns out it isn’t endless, it just seems that way. 21 minutes to load up the game and hey presto, MUCH better. I can now play on optimised settings with zero lag, except for when i first load into an area, definitely far more manageable. Yes i have to wait 20 minutes for the game to load but hey, i had a spectrum,…it could be worse
Edit - I should say i’ve now tested this 4 times and each time i get claptrap rolling across my screen for between 10 and 20 minutes…Then it loads up and everything is fine.
Ok, so I’ve done several random things and this is the first time I’ve been able to play a solid 1’5 hours without any crash with my friends.
Maybe if you guys try something that I did it’s working for you, but I’m not sure I’ve fixed the issue:
-
GPU was pretty close to a WiFi card that I didn’t use, so I unmounted the WiFi card to help refrigeration.
-
I’ve cleaned the GPU fans with a brush to help refrigeration furthermore.
-
Pushed the GPU to the motherboard to make sure is well set.
-
Rolled back to 436.15 drivers. Clean unstalled the 436.30 version with DDU and then installed the whole Nvidia suite of programs with 436.15 version of the driver.
-
Turned off cloud saves.
And that’s all. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, or the crashes occur more frequently on the first planet (I was playing on the planet after sanctuary today).
Hope it helps someone
Sir_Simpai I did exactly like you said and I’m still getting kicked. Some times I can play for an hour or two, last night I actually played for four hours. Sadly I’m currently getting kicked now as soon as loading finishes and before I can take a step with my character. I currently can’t play the game at all due to this.

The fix worked, at first. After about four hours of play, it stopped.
well it no longer works anymore and it crashes within a few minutes, I’m now in the process of returning the game because I don’t know what’s going on and I don’t want to pay for a game I can’t play .

FYI I turned off cloud saves and have had no crashes since. I also ran the file
Epic Games\Borderlands3\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us\UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe
that someone suggested. So maybe that helped.
But the crashes seemed to have stopped for me. Playing at 4k on a 1080 on DX11. Think I played about 4 hours this morning without a crash, previously it was about every 10-20 minutes I would crash.
Still crashing… Nothing seems to work.
THIS. Maybe cloud sync is what is causing the crashes, since I disabled it I was able to play 1.5h and close the game without any crash. Also I need to run the file you mentioned since the crash report is about a file related
game crashes allways after claptrap
After claptrap is the moment when the 3D engine starts to work so it makes sense to crash in this moment. What is weird is that it doesn’t even allow you to play a few minutes like the rest of us.
change back from Dx12 to Dx11 it is in the config files look it up in this thread should be here somewhere

Exact same problem for me. Did everything and ten reinstalled the game. Worked for yesterday but today I cant start it anymore…
maybe verify the game, sounds weird to me.
Found out that problem is the map i’m on. Looks like if i start a new Char i don’t have any probems.
Map is Athenas

It also crashed one time in the main menu after i changed some settings.
Other games still work fine.

I ran this file, turned off Cloud Saves, and ran the game. Crashed less than 5 mins into the map. Same area. Same problem. If I leave the game at the Play menu, it will crash about the same amount of time, without even loading the map. “Video Driver has stopped…” I can only assume it’s an optimization issue, or the game just doesn’t handle UltraWide monitors. WTF!
That’s a negative. I play on UltraWide. I just did a 4 hours session last night. No crash, I got 2 stutter over that period and certainly no “Video driver has stopped”. Something is inherently wrong between your video card drivers and this game. I would do a clean uninstall and reinstall your video card driver as a good measure. When I mean clean is get an DDU than reboot your machine, than install again from Nvidia website.
