Gearbox "legendary" guns are a big problem

One kill I had I got 2 gearbox guns and 1 very bad firehawk, nothing else. Though I know in the old days only getting 1 legendary from craw was possible in single player loot, it happened very rarely.

The more people, the better the loot, while I haven’t done any 4 player craw myself, maybe someone can tally up the most gearbox guns in a 4 player loot pool? The most solo seems to spawn is 3. Either way, I think they just straight up have to go.

@Stouty22 Has mentioned getting 4 in a pile before.

I did some more Craw a little earlier, and on one kill he dropped two Violences. :expressionless:

REEEEEEEEEEEEE

Ahem. Yeah sick of them.

EDIT:

Also I hate the skins on them. They are deceiving. A lot of them have a green glow to them which with pretty much every other gun in the game meant corrosive. And whats with Silent Night having max tech parts but not being able to spawn with an element?

Also yeah getting 4 in one kill on 1 player difficulty is insulting.

Thanks for this post. I thought I was alone. It seems like 90% of the legendaries that I get are the new Gearbox guns.

I did a run earlier and got 3 Silent Nights and 2 Hive Minds. All from the same kill. What’s the point of having these items drop like that when the stats are 100% identical. No unique rolls, stats, etc. I think once a character has one in their inventory, it should no longer drop since there is no variation. Or just remove them from Craw’s loot table as the OP suggested.

These Gearbox guns dropping that way are taking up spots where other legendaries could be dropping.

Did the orriginal also have legendaries in shop? Was farming new haven chests when i happened to open shop to sell everything. Discovered legendary revolver. Started checking the shop during every run as i ran by. So far in 30 minutes this is my second legendary. Both have come from shop have only gotten 1 purple from chests and 2 or 3 blues.

Yeah, just about anything except machine guns, pearlescents, and uniques can spawn in vendors.

Yep, as a matter of fact, this one time two legendaries spawned at once in a vendor for me. (The one in Hallow’s End kinda near Zombie Baha’s place in the zombie DLC.) One was the item of the day and the other with the main listing. One was a Vengeance which I went ahead and bought (for its glitch purposes heh) and I think the other one was a Wildcat which I certainly did not purchase.

Completely agree with this sentiment. It seems the new ‘legendaries’ were designed from a standpoint which did not understand what made BL1’s loot system so appealing. Why make a gun have fixed parts and have it be a world drop? Not to mention the amount of lost potential from having 6 new legendaries for us to grind for great parts.

Furthermore the design of the legendaries is so lazy and hurts the endgame meta. All the weapons barring the revolver are insanely overpowered and often just by giving them stupid stats or ridiculous bonuses (500% melee damage? 800% crit damage?). The fact they are so common and basically guaranteed to get perfect parts is yeah. Given the amount of time I have spent farming gear and specific weapons to optimize builds, it is extremely lame these weapons are often flat-out better without being creative in doing so. They just throw off the gun balance at endgame.

I blew through first playthrough with the Violence revolver. I would say it is stupid OP. You should hear my co-op partner complaining about how many times he scopes in on an enemy only for me to one-shot it with the revolver first

This. The Violence is extremely effective. I had to throw my in the Bank because it made things too easy. The only time that gun didn’t one-shot something was when it was reloading.

I ripped through the Circle of Duty in co-op with this thing. Only time I switched weapons was pulling out a corrosive launcher to blow up the Lancer vehicles. When the revolver’s explosive element procs it can three- or four-shot a badass defender

interesting. And yeah had a wildcat drop for the first time last night. Absolutely garbo lol. I feel like this remastered version has amuch higher legendary drop rate. IDK could be just me but I never saw a single one during my 1st playthrough of the original…at least until i learned about the general knoxx farm glitch

There’s a pic somewhere on this forum I posted with 3 legendary guns in the same vendor. However I think this is off topic?

Mmm I suppose, depending on how you see it. The topic could specifically be just about the gearbox weapons themselves being broken and how they take away from the game or it could be changes to the legendary pool overall that detracts from the gameplay. Which would also include drop rate as well. Now I will admit that i didnt really contribute to the thread simply out of ignorance and I apologize for that lol.

I was going to make a new topic on this but…I think that expanding on this topic is fine, it’s relatable. For me personally, I haven’t noticed anything majorly different in “drop” rates to the old BL1 aside from the occasional purples off minibosses. I have leveled a LOT of characters and if you wanted legendarys or the chance of getting top parts - checking Marcus shops consistently when they reset was the way to go - and it still is. (especially in PT1)

There is another thing that I have found to be a major problem coming back to remastered BL1, something which has since been significantly altered from the original Borderlands 1 - the DLC4 giftshop. Originally when DLC4 was released the red and white chests in the gift shop at the end of DLC were laughably bad rarity (like finding a purple in any of those chests was insane) but we had Craw, we had armory, so no one really cared.

Unfortunately now I think DLC4 gift shop was pushed too far in the other direction. It has way too ease of access once you complete the DLC and the rarity of all the chests is totally bonkers compared to just about any other red chest you find in the entire game. I ran the gift shop on my PT1 soldier maybe 4 or 5 times and I felt like I ruined any chance of getting an upgrade playing PT2 until at least 20 more levels.
The only thing that stops DLC4 gift shop from being the only thing to do endgame nowadays is the fact that there are no lance chests - which means no pearls. I would rather see it go back to being ■■■■ quite honestly.

Glad to see I’m not the only one…I created this account only to post something like this.
Yeah it’s pretty underwhelming, I farmed Craw a few dozen times since the remaster came out, mainly with another player, and most of the legendaries dropped are the new Gearbox ones.
Last time (solo) it dropped three Hive Mind launchers and two Sucker Punch pistols. Farming for rarer legendaries (LV68 ones for example) or pearls has become way more difficult, as the Gearbox legendaries will now Always drop from Craw.
As many of you suggested, yeah they should be removed from Craw’s loot pool…but they also have a frustatingly high chance to drop from other bosses/minibosses too.
Good luck farming for purple Whitting’s Elephant Gun from Skagzilla… I keep getting Gearbox Weapons most of the time :frowning: but I can’t be sure whether they are replacing Zilla’s unique loot or not.

RNG. In 13 Skagzilla runs at lvl 61 I picked up 2 Elephant Guns. So they do show up.

Does not affect possibility of Whiting’s. See here:
