Gearbox seems to need a better PR team

Public Relations can make or break a game. If the public, let alone the fans don’t know what the team has planned for the future, then it’s going to be pretty rough keeping people playing. I’m not saying that GB isn’t spreading the word, but it’s just not good enough. I just now heard about new skins and I look up info about games all the time. PR needs to get with IGN, Gamespot, Giantbomb, etc, and get the ball rolling. Like it or not most people get their information about games from those sites. Get the fans excited for the future of this game. I love this game and I really want others to be as excited for it as I am.

I guess its very hard to know as outsider/bystander which conditions are bound to these “public relations”. Who knows what you have to do, say or even pay those gaming-infoplatforms so they spread positive news? All these “companies” you mentioned do not the best jobs, in my opinion. Often IGN just spreads wrong info or false impressions, and already now there are many missunderstandings within the fanbase.

Yes, GBX/2K could have put more money in advertising, but maybe there was no bigger fund to pay for it.
They have many big streames on their side and alot of peoplearround the world who try their best to advertose this game on their own.
Sure, that cannot compede to a Blizzard-add-campaign, but lets stay realistic and not try to compare GBX/2K with Blizzard.

Don’t forget even getting the word out there could lead to bad reputation with other games like Overwatch coming out, and the existing other games like smite having a lead in getting their PR up.

You’re right, but I don’t think the PR team just does not communicate with mentioned sites and the like. I think they’ve just had a streak of bad luck where Blizzard seems to go out of their way to overshadow Battleborn as much as they can.

Sure if YOU pay for it with microtransactions. I like the idea that they save money on advertising. Hopefully those saves go into production or price reduction. Would hate to see that going towards shareholder value.

I dunno, lots of people played the beta. Truth is too many long awaited games are coming out this month and battleborn doesn’t appeal to everyone. This is a very niche game people either love it or put it down quickly.

I can’t help but feel it’s all down to the game originally meant for released in February, but being moved/delayed until May 2016.

There were promotions for this game at 2015 game expos, which are late 2015 in Australia (not sure what events are worldwide), where players could get their first hands on or looks at it. It would have only been a couple of months wait for full release… But the bump came.

Since the move, I’ve seen a lot of social media promotion, but not much else… But I don’t spend much of my time looking around the web.

When it comes to gearbox/2k, I’ve been pleasantly surprised in the past… So I guess while I’ve already given Battleborn a really good run, hopefully what’s next to come, won’t be too far away.
