General perk complaint made worse by latest patch

You might have to check the latest hotfix. GB confirmed all previous Hot fixes are now permanently coded in the last patch update.

So everybody gets punished because some people used an exploit. Could have been handled in a different fashion, but here we go. My gripe is mostly that promises have been broken (considering an announcement by the game producer in charge to be a promise), and that I now get offered those “great” perks like vehicle damage, movement speed in FFYL and Luck (which I suspect to be rather useless, based on an interesting experiment someone posted in these forums, sorry no link).

I suspect, I hope at least, that after Mayhem 2.0 is released (and tweaked after real-world data is collected), they will move on to Guardian Ranks 2.0 and rework the system from the ground up. They have to, if they plan on raising the level cap further.

I’d like to see a system that rewards you the more you play a particular way, but doesn’t lock you out of experimenting.

Another option they could use is similar to the Diablo 3 Paragon system. Now, now, hear me out. I know it has a lot of issues. But the idea is you have some number of categories that each gain points to spend, but you have the choice as to how you spend the points within. And you can do it faster than the current system. Oh and you can reset your points if you want to focus on something else. This would allow them to add new perks and bonuses later on, without screwing the current player base.

In case one is not familiar with the Paragon system:

Paragon System Overview

After you hit the level cap (70), you continue to earn xp, which raises your paragon level. There are four categories of perks or attributes.

  • Core stats, like strength, vitality, and movement speed.
  • Offensive bonuses, like attack speed, crit chance, crit damage.
  • Defensive bonuses, like armor and resistance.
  • Utility, like area damage and gold find.

Starting at paragon level 1, each level gives you a point to spend in a specific category, in the order above. So you will get a point for Defense, every 4 paragon levels, starting at paragon level 3 (3, 7, 11, etc.). This is fixed and you have to go in this order.

But you can pick where to put that point, so if you want to max out your resistance first, you can.
There is a cap on most all of the bonuses, of 50 points total. I think the primary stat and vitality (Core stats) are unlimited.
