Having not long unlocked him myself this was the first thing I noticed, the slug rounds tend to either work brilliantly or just randomly end up missing. I’ve switched to using the extra spread now it just seems more reliable.
Same here, level 50 char, level 10 Ghalt now and only using the spread with faster reload, works way better.
Been enjoying Ghalt for a while, and I’ll tell you an absolute must when you play him:
Don’t get either mutation. If you go for 30% more pellets, it spreads out the damage and you end having no impact unless your whole screen is covered with baddies. If you get the range one, you’ll miss more often than a white guy trying to dunk in a 1970s film.
Seriously, they’re both bugged, ignore them.
You kinda have to pick one or the other if you want to progress though. Unless there is a mutation for that slot which I haven’t unlocked yet…
No, you can skip it. I do every match. I got a bit tired of it when my buddy literally was standing still for experiment, I lined up my shot right on his head at less than 5 feet away, and got 2 misses and one hit. I was like “it’s one thing to fail on a moving target, but this is ridiculous.”
…Me too, enjoying Deande now, a lot more actually, and almost never dying.
When I first tryed him I too felt like some shot where not hitting up close and far so all give him another try and skip that upgrade
I think slugs should be removed or have a damage reduction. They feel way to powerful in PVP. It makes ghalt a short character and gives him way too much range. You can do so much damage from a good distance away makes mopping up people running from a fight pretty easy.
I think it would be neat if they switched slug rounds out with flechette dart rounds. Give a tighter spread with 5% shield pierce
Im glad other people are talking about this. I just unlocked Ghaly over the weekend (have literally been waiting since release to play him) and I couldn’t hit anything with those mutations. I kept chalking it up to “man I guess I just suck with Ghalt.” Glad to see other people are having the similar issues with those mutations.
It’s annoying because when you do hit you can deliver a ton of damage. I don’t have the best accuracy but I did feel the slugs weren’t hitting as often as they should.
Yeah I like this idea. Tighter spread seems like a much better option then increasing his range.
Tighter spread would effectively increase the range due to the shot not being spread over a wider area
Honestly I haven’t noticed anything wonky with Ghalt myself. In fact I find him a lot of fun to play with. I mastered Marquis pretty much as soon as I could as those are the type of heroes I gravitate too and so by the time I got to level 40 and started playing Ghalt I played in a style that really suited the slugs.
Here is how I setup. Firstly, not really a helix ability but important to note, I never ads, I find you can be a lot more accurate without scoping, not really sure why though. Also I spec him for the +15% damage boost and double barrel shot (giving 4 shots instead of 8, essentially turning his revolver into a rocket launcher, your last two shots become incredibly powerful if you can land them). With that setup you can practically 4 shot a full health Oscar mike, and you absolutely dominate minions. In terms of your hook and traps I don’t really have a lot of imput, to me it doesn’t really matter what you use, they all work. I make the hook bigger in the first helix, and find that short fuse at level 8 can be used as a get away tactic if you are being chased.
Here are some games I recently played with that setup:
As the above poster said, DO NOT aim with his weapon. It makes it much more ineffective.
I’m excited to play him. Just unlocked him and played a little this morning before I cleared out for work. Since I’m naturally a terrible shot,i think his shot gun will be perfect. I also don’t care how many times I die in PvP so the range in slugs makes no difference to me
But your team cares. Don’t feed your enemies.
Yeah it’s just a game.
During my testing of the double shot skill, I found that it wasn’t doing that much damage tbh. It was mostly the same damage but now slower. Is it just me or has anyone else tested this as well?
I did a little testing, but nothing extensive and I did notice a bit more damage, but only like a 50-65% jump in damage instead of x2 like it should have been
