Well if it does not scale we will just jump back to times before IB buffs. With our mech working as slow ASE trigger.
I really REALLy hope it will scale though. Without it we’re kinda screwed really.
From my experience perf geared Moze is good for M4 Slaughtershaft/TTD if careful. Don’t even think about going higher without guns from higher tiers. We NEED IB to farm higher content.
Or I will just switch to Zane/Amara and zoom through content 4 times stronger/faster/tougher. Farm gear and switch to Moze if possible :). I would suck though. Switching to other VH is so damn depressing when getting back to our Gunner.
Besides her confirmation or not , its just common sense they CANT scale him to each mayhem level.
They could have had you had to clear something like Digiatruct peak to unlock next mayhem level etc, but they didnt , so IB cant scale or otherwise you can use an IB build to farm M10 gear right out of the gate .
I think we are getting too far into the weeds here though:
What people who hate the modifiers are really upset about is that we just want a pure shooter experience, that’s really all there is to it. Playing with mayhem modifiers might be fun every once in a while , but forcing them on the player fundamentally changes the game from an FPs shooter to…not sure what genre to be honest, but you cant go around pretending its the same game you expected when you purchased months ago.
That seems to be a pretty moot point as you can just get yourself a Q System and use that to “farm M10 gear right out of the gate”. So no reason for him not to scale (not that something that is only relevant for a miniscule amount of time should ever be an excuse to abandon such a an important core mechanic).
This arguement and thread are moot until we find out tomorrow. Boy oh boy I just wanted to know if anyone had seen an actual source instead of taking lack-of-confirmation as fact.
I can agree with this. I wish we could have scaling without modifiers, and turn them on if we want to. I personally hate/ignore them at the moment, but to be fair right now they’re the most useless modifiers in a game I’ve ever seen. I’d prefer just straight bullet sponges over the current mayhem.
Yeah I don’t see why IB couldn’t just scale, I’m almost positive enemies won’t be too difficult to just sit there and run Athenas over and over to get top level gear right away with your guns you have now. Who cares if you die you just start back where you were.
I’m not sure Borderlands has ever been this. Leveling, Action Skills, Artifacts, Legendary Coms, Anointments, and various other aspects wildly deviate from a pure shooter to an action game-rpg-shooter hybrid. These expectations just don’t seem to line up with the core of BL3. Mayhem Mode has always been about the modifiers. It’s the whole concept of what ‘Mayhem’ is built on in the first place and they’ve never hidden that from anyone.
I think I might enjoy the modifiers for m2.0 but I’d also like to play without them to test builds. Hopefully there’s no damage or projectile count modifiers.
Oh, I totally agree that certain modifiers like the projectile count and reflect ones are really obnoxious and don’t add much.
I’m not saying it’s a perfect system by any means (action skill scaling in general, esp for a ‘transformation’ skill like Iron Bear, /needs/ to be looked at) but it just feels like GBX’s mission statement has been about repeatedly trying to deviate from a pure shooter experience with every game. I guess for GBX it’s a question balancing how to make the gameplay more challenging without stepping back into damage sponge territory.
While I understand your point, and trust me I get it, the fact that more than 10 people have asked specifically about ability scaling and there hasn’t been an answer yet is very concerning. I know it’s only been 4 hours so I don’t want to go into panic mode yet, but considering that this question really only needs a yes or no answer, and seeing the amount of apprehension in the thread around this concern, I think their silence is indicative of…something at the least. Not enough to claim outright they aren’t scaling, but enough to reasonably conclude they probably aren’t without further info.
Maybe it needs more than that though. Just 24 hours people. There might be more to it than a yes or no that they don’t want discussed until release. Kind of like how she didn’t reveal all the modifiers and such.
Will abilities scale is most certainly a yes or no. We don’t need anything else besides knowing whether or not they will scale. It’s not like we’re looking for the scaling formula or something, we just want to know whether or not it will happen.
And sorry, but speaking as a FL4K,
On top of all the time spent already …doesn’t feel great considering that all this worry could be put aside with 2 or 3 letters. It’s already been 6 months, at least save me a day if you’re not going to scale them.
Honestly, I’d rather be upset for a day or two and then be completely floored with joy then get hopeful and be let down. And I can’t bring myself to be objective and not expect or feel anything at all, I’m still testing pets today for the love of God. I can’t stand the thought of the work put into everything being upended over this.
I feel like at some point they’ll have to give us 10 levels of difficulty and make the modifiers a switch you can turn on and off.
And if Action Skills aren’t scaling they’re going to have to change that. Not to be hyperbolic but I think it’s safe to assume without scaling that a massive percent of people will quit playing the game and not come back. They’d lose a ton of dlc money from people that haven’t bought the season pass, and streamers would move on to a different game.
That sounds harsh, but this isn’t 2015 and I don’t think people will roll over on every character being based solely on gear and nothing else.
I know I’m quitting if they don’t. Heck, most of the people who posted the early days of the game about FL4K pet builds haven’t played for months. They come back and ask if they’re viable yet, and I say “no, not much has changed unless you like this one super specific PITA method”.
