I played around and found I can put 3 into able and 2 into crisis and just skip the add more grenades and I can skip getting mag lock I really don’t need it so I used 4 into quick charge and maxed out resourceful and grit and had a point for Gemini would that also be more ideal

I’ve literally just started playing. Have Axton to level 11. I have a question regarding this build. Should I be building the intro skills to 5 before moving down the line, or work towards Scorched Earth as quick as I can?

Speaking just for myself I tend to try to max out a tree before starting another, with the exception of getting any level 1 healing skills like Axton’s Preparation or Sal’s hard to Kill. My suggestion would be to get to Longbow Turret first, as the increased health and deploy range greatly increases the turret’s survival chances. In normal though either way should be fine, as I imagine the extra firepower provided by Scorched Earth could help out if your weapons are somewhat lacking…

I got the game a month ago and am trying a few of the classes out. I just started Ax and he’s level 7. I like a well rounded build that can survive and deal good dps. This is what I have so far:

I’d suggest dropping Laser Sight- honestly, it’s one of Axton’s worst skills. Put the points into Able and/or Grenadier, especially if you plan to use grenades a lot since Battlefront buffs grenade damage. I’d also suggest taking Mag Lock over Phalanx Shield. I know Phalanx Shield can block the pull from black hole threshers but being able to place your turrets in hard to reach spots where they still draw aggro can’t be overlooked. maybe something like this:

Once you get used to the Gemini/Double Up build (used by the majority of Axton players during some point, so this is not a criticism), try dipping far enough into the Gunpowder tree to get Do or Die- my current Axton has gotten out of more than a few FFL moments by tossing Fastballs into some enemy’s face…

If your Axton is L7, you don’t need to worry about endgame builds, I’d just enjoy learning how the character plays.

Seconding @ChemicalConundrum’s comment. There are very few wrong builds in NVHM, and you can always respec at the start of TVHM if you feel the need. When you have skill points to spend, look for something that will help any are you feel is currently lacking. Gear choice makes more of a difference in NVHM though.

@Piemanlee On the “Generic” build, are you using a Legendary Soldier COM? I’m readying him for the peak and i’m thinking of using that build, but with Able instead of Grenadier.
