Hornet

It’s a great gun in BL2 and so it is in this one. The item card doesn’t do this item justice in what it can really do. On top of the base damage you get splash damage that has another chance of applying the corrosive DOT which is also way higher than stated on the card. It has a huge 6-round burst and crazy good rate of fire while being pinpoint accurate (easy crits!).

Buttplug

This gun looks unremarkable but is actually the weapon with the highest melee damage potential in the game. To get the most out of it you have to attack enemies from behind. Even if you attack from any other direction you should deal more melee damage than with any other standard +120% melee damage weapon due to the way this bladed bonus is calculated.

Shield-stripping par excellence. There’s no easier way to get rid of tough shields on single enemies.

Linoge

Insanely powerful pistol close range, great for hybrid builds. Due to the increased projectile count and low accuracy, this thing is best used as a fast-firing shotgun. Works great with Indiscriminate and melee builds due to the guaranteed +120% melee bonus. When using it for longer ranges it’s quite unreliable (most projectiles miss due to low accuracy and low projectile speed) for the amount of ammo it chews through.

Unforgiven

A non-elemental gun on Amara? Yes, it’s actually really good. The Unforgiven one-shots most enemies when you crit. And crits are really easy with Phasegrasp, especially Ties That Bind that one-shots almost all enemies that are linked as well. That allows for insane overkill damage when paired with her Remnant skill. The only thing that’s holding this beauty back is the bugs and bad AI of Remnant. The bonus crit damage varies to a great degree (roughly 300-450%).

smgs

Crossroad

This SMG is a monster when it comes to boss DPS. It’s also quite good for mobbing but can eat all your ammo quickly. It’s basically a fast burst shotgun packed into an SMG. Although it isn’t all that accurate several of Amara’s skills can make up for it (Transcend, Steady Hand(s) and Indiscriminate). The gun shoots four hitscan projectiles in a random pattern.

Tsunami

This SMG is weird in pretty much every regard but has great DPS potential and synergies with Amara’s skills. In addition to the non-elemental standard projectiles, it fires 5 additional projectiles on a regular basis. They are either corrosive or shock and form a diagonal line. The standard non-elemental projectiles also ricochet off of objects and enemies. With all those projectiles you can make great use of Indiscriminate. The weirdest and best part is that the additional projectiles also provide life steal via Sustainment even though the game considers the gun to be non-elemental.

Rowan’s Call

One of the few elemental Jakobs weapons in the game. High elemental base and crit damage combined with ammo return and ricocheting bullets make this thing an excellent mobbing weapon. Due to the decent mag size, you rarely have to reload when you’re accurate enough to hit crit spots reliable. Ammo vending machines and ammo crates are a thing of the past. When paired with Indiscriminate you’ll see three projectiles ricocheting off of one initial bullet.

Laser-Sploder

Highly accurate and reliable Torgue gun that shoots a laser beam instead of the usual slow moving rockets. Has additional splash damage rockets that trigger every few shots and are very inaccurate, especially for long-range. Best used close to medium range. Its downside is the inability to trigger Indiscriminate.

Lucian’s Call

Lucian’s Call is basically a worse version of Rowan’s Call but in form of a Vladof-branded gun. It has a bigger magazine but due to the fact that you get ammo back for scoring crits, that’s almost irrelevant. It also has a higher fire rate but its barrel needs to ramp up a few seconds to get to the specified rate. The special effect is completely identical to Rowan’s Call. The only difference that can make this one preferrable over an RC is the difference in elements it can come.

shotguns

Face-puncher

One of the best weapons for a melee build. You literally shoot punches with it. Every bonus that applies to melee attacks (including roid, Illuminated Fists, melee DOTs, etc.) also apply to this gun’s projectiles. But some gun damage modifiers like Personal Space don’t have an effect on this one.
Elements: Kinetic

Flakker

The Flakker is a legendary Torgue Shotgun that only has one fire mode and comes in multiple elements. It has 3 projectiles that spawn off multiple explosions that cover a large area. This is very effective because you can hit larger enemies multiple times with these explosions doing a ton of damage, also it can hit a wide range of enemies grouped up. With Amara’s ability to pull enemies together and increase splash damage (Arms Deal) she can really max out the damage potential of this gun. It also can work well with Infusion to spread that elemental damage around. The weaknesses of the Flakker are fire rate, mag size, and reload time, all of which Amara can minimize with her skill tree.

Projectile Recursion

Video Showcase
If you’re running an elemental build with Indiscriminate this gun is amazing for large groups. It’s not a boss killer or single-target DPS machine.
Its projectiles always ricochet a few times off of a wall. If you hit an enemy the ricochet will go towards another enemy. With Indiscriminate every hit has an additional chance to “create” a ricochet at reduced damage. The bullets will bounce back and forth between even just 2 enemies. While doing this it can create more ricocheting projectiles and bounce even more. You can kill large groups of badasses and even Anointed in the arenas with just 2-3 shots. With Ties That Bind and Indiscriminate, this can result in an absurd amount of DPS. But due to the gun being Maliwan it needs to be charged and the projectile speed isn’t the best so it might miss some targets. It also sports very high DOT damage that can melt weak enemies easily.
Elements: Fire, Corrosive, Shock, Radiation, Cryo
Best Parts: - x2 projectiles
Best Prefix: Binary
Best Anointment: -
Location: World Drop

Brainstormer

Showcase
Similar to the Projectile Recursion (PR) this gun excels at mobbing, crowd control and dealing damage to multiple enemies simultaneously. When shooting an enemy with it while another one is nearby it has a chance of triggering a chain lightning effect between all those enemies. It’s easier to handle than the PR but is way weaker and only comes in Shock. To use this gun efficiently for all sorts of enemy types you have to use Infusion which is problematic (loss in DPS, reduced healing from Sustainment, etc.). In its base form, it’s great for stripping shields of multiple opponents, though.

Lyuda

The Lyuda is a legendary Vladof sniper and may just be the highest burst damage gun in the game if not the highest DPS weapon. The Lyuda’s projectiles split into 3 at a set distance, each with full damage as well as a high crit damage. Combine that with the Vladof fast fire rate you can see why the high DPS. Its drawbacks are a small magazine and a slow reload. Deep Well can help with the magazine and Fast Hand(s) with the reload speed (currently Alacrity doesn’t work at all). This can also be a monster with Indiscriminate because the amount of bullets you are putting out there.

The Transformer

Definitely one of her best options. It makes you basically immune to shock damage. Shock will no longer damage you but recharges the shield instead. Since she doesn’t have a whole lot of options to improve shield performance in her skill trees this is extremely valuable. The ammo absorption is great as well, both from a defensive and a utility perspective. Shock splash damage from your own guns and grenades allows for easy and quick charging of the shield.
Best Parts: -
Best Anointment: Cooldown Reduction
Location: “It’s Alive” quest reward & World Drop

Re-Charger

The description of this shield’s special effect is incorrect. Instead of starting the recharging process once it breaks it sets itself back to full capacity, resulting in twice the shield capacity every 20 seconds. When playing a little more defensively or using Phasegrasp in combination with Stillness of Mind it’s quite rare to ever run out of shield capacity and take health damage. Other than the locked legendary affix it can come with any combination of additional affixes contrary to The Transformer shield.
Best Parts: Max Capacity
Best Anointment: Cooldown Reduction

Elemental Projector

No other artifact comes close to the power of this one. With a decent gun, bosses in TVHM M3 are a matter of seconds. Just apply a DOT via low-level grenade or splash damage gun to yourself. Anima increases the duration of that DOT on yourself and suddenly your gun will deal +183% multiplicative elemental damage. The other stats are almost irrelevant.
While mobbing this is overkill most of the time. Applying the correct DOT to yourself all the time isn’t really efficient but it can have its uses when enemies happen to have guns that apply the most beneficial DOT to you.
Best Affixes: magazine size affix

classmods

Phasezerker

Arguably the best option for almost all gun builds. The skill boosts are lacklustre but the legendary perk is insane, especially when coupled with her capstone skill Avatar for 10 more Rush stacks. 25 stacks in total mean +75% gun damage. On top of that, you also get cooldown reduction. The CDR bonus isn’t 10% per stack as stated on the item card but more like 3%. Still a really good bonus.
Best Skill Boosts: +2/+3 Clarity/Anima (Conflux is really bad, sometimes even detrimental)
Best Affixes: magazine size, cooldown reduction
Location: World Drop

Breaker

This class mod is the one mostly used for all sorts of builds that make use of melee or close-range combat in one way or another. Its legendary perk is useful for any kind of build because it makes you tankier. Contrary to the Phasezerker class mod that revolves all around the special perk the Breaker also sports great skill bonuses. +1 Find Your Center increases melee damage by another 100% while Personal Space is a multiplicative gun damage bonus that comes into play when you shoot your shotgun from time to time.
Best Skill Boosts: +1 Find Your Center / +1 Jab Cross / +3 Personal Space
Best Affixes: melee damage

A few items that might just make everyone’s list

Flakker, it’s just so strong in this game
Lyuda might have the highest dps of all guns in the game.
Transformer seems like one of the better shields out there so far

More for her
Hellwalker and compainion, her elemental skills with raw jakobs damage, as well as personal space with hellwalker.

Thanks, they are on my to do list. Or do you want to write some paragraphs about them?

Also it’s cool to see these going up

Sure, I’ll be home in a bit and I’ll add bits of how they work with her skills

Projectile Recursion and Brainstormer with a Ties that Bind build. Next week I can write the description for Projectile Recursion, if you’d like.

Sure, go ahead. Projectile Recursion would have been one of the next on my list but now I can skip that one. :+1:

I’ve been abusing it, err testing it a lot lately and never leave home with out it.

I’ve found the brainstormer to be incredible for her, and I use a Nova Berner as a pseudo Firehawk shield for mobbing. The Berner especially works to keep you above healthgate constantly and her shield delay buffs aid that

I support this even though i havent played around with other shields that much. Given Tempest gives us +50% shock damage it’s easy to just splash heal yourself. Im using a Kill-o-the-wisp that usually charges me back to full in 2 shots. Ild assume a shock fastball would be even better but that ■■■■■■ wont drop for me in shock.

Here are a few write ups

Thanks, I’ll make some screenshots and then add it to the list.

Flakker comes in Kinetic, Fire and Radiation as far as i know.

Everyone is sleeping on the Soleki Protocol. This thing is nasty on an elemental build.

Is that the questreward for rescuing katagawas sister? Looks interesting. Can the ricochets ricochet? Might need to do that quest again i assume.

Yeah it bounces up to 3 times. It takes a little practice to get used to, but dang it destroys.

Yeah, on big static targets (bosses) it’s quite powerful. While mobbing I find it unreliable.

Alacrity is bugged and does not do anything at the moment. As long as this is not fixed, do not get it and take Fast Hands instead.

Projectile Recursion

(Picture)

“Charged shotgun, on a top gear list?” Yes. If you’re running an elemental build with Indiscriminate this gun is amazing for large groups. This gun always ricochets a few times off of a wall. If you hit an enemy the ricochet will go towards another enemy. With Indiscriminate every hit has a change to “create” a ricochet at reduced damage. With Phasegrasp or Stillness of Mind this chance increases and the reduced damage is less. The bullets will bounce back and forth between even just 2 enemies if there is line of sight between them. While doing this it can create more and bounce even more. You can kill large groups of bad asses and even anointed in the arenas with just 2-3 shots.

Functions similarly to the Brainstormer with some pros and cons.
Pros:
Can target and hit anointed, Brainstormer can’t.
Large single target damage, can out DPS almost any gun against a large group with Ties that bind and Indiscriminate.
Larger ricochet distance than Brainstormer can chain shock.

Con:
Charge time takes getting use to. (Seem to always spawn with +% charge speed to help a little.)
Can miss target due to projectile speed. Not always reliable for sustaining health with Sustainment skill.
Low single target DPS. Best used for groups only.
