[Guide] Top Gear for Axton

About the swift prefix on the Lead storm: I think this was a leftover from the Sal TG.
I would avoid the swift prefix like the plague…on Sal
But Axton is a different case.

Yeah sorry I fixed it I really should profread these post better than I do. Any other mistakes you can find?

It’s all good
Better to fix a text than to write a new one from scratch :slightly_smiling:

I’m With @Triad_Thunder and @johnrr6 here: the Swift prefix might actually be worth including as a good choice (rather than as a bad one or not mentioned at all) Not only does it make it usable at longer range, but you also don’t have to arc your shots as much.

ill do in the morning. Is every other entry up to par.

The content looks good to me so far :slightly_smiling:

Better ask Mr OCD @Hoyle4 about the formatting and punctuation.

Yeah I kinda forgot to update the doc he’s using so he can’t fix anything till in the morning I’m trying to keep his job to a minimum I’d hate to be in charge of a thread and not do any.of the work.

Hey if we don’t have order here, what do we have?

Um well it could be an organized mess

CHAOS!!!

We can’t let text with uneven spacing and bad capitalization stay that way …like we’re some sort of savages!

Yeah sorry about that even auto correct can’t help my spelling and grammar sometimes.

I would ask you consider Dahl Miniguns as an Honorable mention. VERY good standoff AR at range and come in all Elements. 9 round burst…not a lot of kick so the nine rounds stay tight.

A Bee/Bone and a Chaotic Evil mod make it sniper class with LOTS of Ammo. Not a wade in and in your face gun…but at range in the right hands…just wow.

Food for thought: It’s number one with a bullet in the Nisha TG for ARs
I know TPS is different, but this gun is still a total beast.

+1 for the Dahl Minigun as honorable mention.

Just for grins…

I pulled out my Deep Fire Scorpio that I haven’t used in ages…and I mean ages…took me a while to even find the mule I had it on…was totally surprised.

OH MY GOODNESS!

With a Bee and at standoff range it is DEADLY…

Every bit as deadly as the minigun…in fact, the burst with the Deep prefix is so tight, it’s like one bullet…tighter than the minigun.

With Dahl grip it’s 5-6 rounds but the red text can vary it a round or two higher

Fires wonderfully from the hip as well.

It’s like an assault sniper.

Chaotic Evil Mod and a Bee/Bone…slag with Magic Missiles and the Turret…sit back safely at range and…FUN!!

Soooooo many guns in this game!!! I LOVE IT!

with a bee a lot of things are deadly, something seems off about the scorpio being better than the minigun, isn’t that a slightly better blue dahl ar?

2nd place maybe, the Hail is #1.

Not better than the minigun…

But i’t’s fire pattern was better…VERY tight.

Red Text effects for faster FR and better Accuracy and less Recoil if you can believe the Wiki…along with the increased burst gimmick.

No…I’m not saying it is better than a 9 round burst Dahl minigun.

But if you didn’t have a Dahl Minigun…a decent parts Elemental Scorpio might make up for it. And it’s easy to get and farm.

Sure…everything is better with a Bee…

Kind of like ketchup in that regard…LOL

I ran the entire Beatdown with the Scorpio twice. Was getting critical hits like no tomorrow and actually completed the “This is my Gun” Challenge (Kill Enemies with critical hits from ARs.)

Tactics were simple: At range, throw three magic missiles…use longbow turret to throw my turret far out for aggro and slag…throw three more magic missiles…sit back and snipe with the Scorpio.

I use an Ogre so much…it’s not the best for critical hits…LOL But with the Scorpio, I finished the last two levels of the challenge in 20 minutes.

A line needs to be drawn here on what constitutes “top gear” and what doesn’t, since Axton can turn almost every Dahl or Torgue assault rifle in the game into a great weapon. I have no doubt the Scorpio can be made into a very reliable weapon on his hands, but is it top gear material? I never used it that much, but just the fact that you seem to need the Bee and constant critical hits to make it really worthwhile would be already enough to leave it out of this list in my opinion. You should be going for crits with every character, but Axton is more about high base damage and splash than pinpoint critical hit damage. He isn’t big on precision. One could argue that’s exactly the reason the Scorpio is good for Axton, since it gives him more precision to hit consecutive crits (it’s the same with the Lyuda and the Lady Fist), but I’m not sold yet. A good way to test the Scorpio for a top gear/honorable mention position is to take regular purple Dahl rifles (the Scorpio is unique, but it’s still based on a blue) and compare them to the Scorpio. If it performs considerably better than a purple Rifle or Carbine, maybe it deserves a honorable mention. If it’s only marginally better, the same or worse, it doesn’t. In that case, it’s just a better option than a blue AR while leveling up.

I agree, the Scorpio is one of my very favorite ARs in the game, but I doubt it deserves a spot on HM, much less TG. A decent Dahl minigun simply outdoes it in most situations.

I personally also think a line should probably need to be drawn between the Ogre and the Kerblaster (or is it Kerboom in this game?). I have a feeling they serve a similar purpose (and as someone previously said, you can take basically any torgue/dahl ar and Axton can make it sparkle) and I can’t really see a world where both of them are TG.

My money goes to the ogre, yes the Kerblaster is generally underrated and definitely deserves to be on this list in some capacity, but in direct competition with the ogre? What does it do differently/better than the ogre? Especially considering it can’t crit naturally and all of its “Grenade Damage” boostable content comes in that slow detonating grenade afterwards.
