[Guide] Top Gear for Axton

I really don’t want to get into another multi-faceted argument with you. You are right on many accounts, but using as examples specific builds that don’t correspond to the description I gave is not very constructive: it doesn’t prove that the builds I’m talking about don’t exist.

For ACTUAL example, here’s my Maya build: http://bl2skills.com/siren.html#550001200055150103515505510501
A grand total of 45% Gun damage bonus. The difference between a 34% bones and a 34% Heart is only 15% total bonus. Not enough to immediately discard the possibility that there might be an upside to an alternate choice.

Maybe you are right and only Salvador really has a thing for …anything besides Bones. I don’t want to do the maths again, I just wanted to share a bit of info.

^^^^Pretty much this…

Maybe a Skin Relic with two resistances and Shield Cap and Recharge…but it’s Kinda a niche thing. First time I soloed the magic slaughter I ran a skin like this with a Blockade and Fire and Shock resistances. Made me almost unkillable when mixed with a liberal use of the Protection Shrines.

Also possibly a Blood Relic or Stockpile Relic with SMG ammo for massive chucking.

Forgot about that on my last post. I guess they do have a place on this list, after all. For some reason, I was thinking of Tediore chucking for raiding and not mobbing.

When Solo…I use a Blood and Chuck the first half of the SMG ammo in seconds when chucking Avengers with an Expert Veteran and Low Health

Then I switch to a Bone and Grenadier com before they all hit…

Massive Damage with a Bee…if you can keep your shield up.

After you chuck the first half of your SMG Ammo…stay with a Bone or Tediore Allegience as the Blood doesn’t do you any good any more.

I wasn’t really going for an argument either, this I just one of the aspects of the game I love to talk about. :stuck_out_tongue:

But even disregarding how Maya is enamored with her action skill, don’t you use a a COM? That is the same damage my base Maya has, but my com gives me more. And 3 out of the 4 red text coms gives you even more damage. And if you’re running a L. Nurse you’re probably using a Blood.

And her other popular com the Trickster doesn’t give you more damage, but then you are so reliant on Phaselock the Bone is a given.

I’m not arguing or trying to showoff, I’m just talking to you like you did with me with the Bangstick/Boganella showing how the accuracy and FR would beat out the Bang’s damage w/out glitches. :slightly_smiling:

Oh, ok then, fair enough

Yes, I do use a COM. I generally use a Fox COM (so still 45%), a Legendary Binder (goes up to 75%) or Legendary Siren (up to about 80%).

I played a LOT with the Cat, and although it is undoubtedly the best for DPS, it’s a one trick pony: Damage is all it does.

Cough cough Axton cough

Sorry I like to derail topics. But we’re almost wrapped up anyway.

So um… how 'bout the Grenadier com for TG :stuck_out_tongue:

Are we talking COMs already? Then these are my picks:

TG:

  • Legendary Soldier - His best all around COM
  • Legendary Engineer - Good for explosive and turret focused builds

HM:

  • Expert Grenadier - Best COM for grenade focused builds and some explosive builds
  • Expert Veteran/Chaotic Neutral Ranger - Great for Tediore chucking and raiding

OK for relic does this list look good to most of yall
TG: Bones of the ancient, Explosive relic, Sheriff’s badge

HM: Torgue and Tediore Allegiance relics, Shadow of the seraph, Skin of the ancient, and stockpile/blood of the ancients

Looks good to me and Thanks P for all the work and your patience on this!!

Just mention in the section that the Skin and Blood/Stockpile Relics are kind of niche but really nice to have for certain situations

sounds like an HM to me

Just for my sanity later, COMs that we’ve established so far in the thread have been
Leg. Soldier
Leg. Engineer
Veteran (Ideally Expert [Blue Expert (?) Which Skills?)
Grenadier (I’ve seen both Versions of the Blue Expert Grenadier Tossed Around depending on Build)
Ranger(I’ve Seen Reccs for True Neutral, Chaotic Neutral and Chaotic Evil, Blue? What Skills)

What’s the General Verdict on These? TG? HM?

I’m also throwing these out for interpretation based on that Port of the COM reviews
Leg. Pointman (Is the strategy involving this COM viable at OP8? HM?)
Leg. Ranger
Terra (ANY Reason to use this over Leg. Solider? Doubtful but it was rated Good)
Tactician
Rifleman
Gunner

I think that the Legendary Soldier, Legendary Engineer, Veteran and Grenadier Coms are all top gear.

For the honorable mention, I would nominate the Rifleman, Gunner and Legendary Ranger Coms.

@Afro_Samurai Where does the TTAODK Ranger Fit In Here? You mentioned it earlier and I happened to notice triad left it out.

Lumped it in with Legendary Ranger in my mind, but on that note:

Chaotic or Neutral Evil Ranger is a fun option with a bee. I personally love a Neutral Evil Ranger with a bekah and a jakobs allegiance relic. I think the Tina relic Ranger coms should be HMs if at all.

@johnrr6 might know a bit about the Ranger Com too, since he has been a fan of if for a while.

The Blue Expert Vet with +6 Steady +5 Pressure is the staple tediore chucking com for raids with a focus on chucking speed.

True Neutral Ranger with +86%ish percent magazine size gives highest damage per tediore chuck.

Evil Ranger coms are more practical for shooting things in the head. It gives bonus ss to impact, overload, and grit.

Pointman viable at OP8? Like the ported guide says… Not so much. 61-72, yes.

Why use Slayer of Terra? It is a good standby until you get a Leg. Soldier.

Engineer = A turret-lover’s dream. Lowers cooldown to about 12.5 seconds with cooldown relic and appropriated skill points iirc.

Pointman and tactician are pretty meh in the grand scheme of things. They aren’t poor options for leveling up, but there are other things to look out for.

Looks good to me.
