[Guide] Top Gear for Wilhelm

Our tests follow primarily with a speed/ammo efficiency curve (We weren’t looking at which guns produced the biggest numbers). In these aspects, the Gwen’s performed marginally worse (it was close), but mainly lost out because of that second bullet getting wasted in most combat scenarios. There’s also some minor things with overloading a crit bonus that arent nearly as important.

The repeater performing well with both of the best glitches is a really big boon, too.

Same here. It is kind of weird to see the shooterang here. I’ve never seen anybody mention that in a build they were using.

EDIT: Fair enough on the Gwen’s head.

We Tested the Maggie with high hopes (It would make sense that it would perform extremely well considering Targeting Scope), and while it did, the other pistols performed better.

@boombumr The Shooterang is often underestimated as a Vanilla DPS pistol, as people mostly think of it for its Unique reload

Oh and by the way…

Nice thread and highly needed!

Thanks!!

What about Dahl miniguns? Could they compete with the Fuslillade?

Isnt a Lance better than a Rifle?

I will add it to the docket, we tried the Carbine, not the minigun, and the carbine wasn’t that effective

That’s the Jakobs barrel yes? We haven’t tested it specifically, so we’ll let you know.

Yes, it is. Thanks!
Also, good job doing this thread. Wilhelm section really needed this. Nice!

Explosive.p AR, and assuming you are linking to freezing then engaging…

Rifle = Mobbing
Spitter = best DPS…but you have to get used to the spinup time

Spitter with Grenade bonus from Lunashine and Bomber Oz kit = most min/max

But you guys are adding in ammo efficiency in the quotient…which I am just not sure is necessary with Wilhelm and Overcharge

Just my opinions…keep up the good work!

About ammo efficiency, it’s mainly a concern with guns with a small ammo pool (shotguns, snipers and RL). I wouldn’t worry too much about ammo on SMG, AR and Lasers.

Edit: did we overlook the Hail for the AR section? Gonna grab one and do a quick test run. Kerboom, too, but that thing can’t crit, so I don’t expect much out of it.

@Hoyle4
Hail: 62 - 990, Having to look up to laser paint, and then down to aim is a bit of a chore.

I removed it because I feel Afterburner is one of Wilhelms vital skills and that really screws with the Hail.

Well, it makes the second bullet split really far away, when it would otherwise have landed, but that’s only realistic in boss scenarios.
When mobbing, the Hail is more about landing its shots from shotgun range, and there the Hail works just fine. (Also, I was specced in Afterburner during that run)

@Hoyle4
KerBoom: 69 - 1081 but such bad Handling. And that fire rate. And reloading after 9 shots. Urgh.

I might need to test it myself

Afterburner at 6/5…with the Hail

And you can still lay all your falling shots right into Eclipse’s head and face…at range…in scoped/iron sights mode

It is very effective and a safe way to deal with him

You can literally face tank him

I understand why the Kerboom would do well (Why I suggested testing it in the first place ;)) as it has synergy with afterburner (Were you using a Howitzer i don’t think that can crit).

it can’t I just went with a CE. But that handling is still horrible, and the splash will kill you if you hit too close.

I mean if your bad with an IVF you can kill yourself proper too, doesn’t it can’t perform.

Ok thanks for the first night of input, I’m gonna be signing off to test your suggestions. Until then :thumbsup:

Reo: @Sljm I like it, it’s def the worst Shield out of TG if it’s TG, just because of how it’s like in the middle of WIlhelms shield focuses, but that’s also how it kinda works, too.

Minigun: @boombumr It’s on, probably 2nd or 3rd on the list, cuz it eats more Ammo, but it’s definitely there.

Lance, Rifle, and Kerboom: @l_gabrielcruz They basically all tested the same. idk what to do with it I guess Kerboom is lower cuz it can’t Crit, idk. I probably will keep the rifle on there but with the Fusialade getting kicked, there might be room for something else as they all outperformed the Spitter.

Hail: I couldn’t replicate @Ha_Na’s tests, probably because I’m not that great with the Hail, but you’re almost never gonna reach max potential on this gun with Willhelm, the “split” sweet spot won’t happen for him in normal combat, and if your spec’ing out of one of Wilhelm’s best offensive skills to accomodate an Assault Rifle, you have bigger problems.

Hoyle, Thank you for doing this. I’ve been watching your top gear thread for claptrap for about 3-4 months now & while I’m not exactly a claptrap player I appreciated the attention to detail, passion & effort you put into testing his TG. I would always bother my friend irl who is a claptrap player to keep checking your thread.

Anyways I hold the same opinion as John that a max resist purple adaptive shield is my go to shield in UVHM. Above the haymaker which I like alot.

Also I wanted to ask if you can include a note about using the storm front to strip your shield to activate emergency response & vengeance cannon.
Next time you get around to updating the OP anyways.

Amazing job here btw.

Edit: I also don’t find the hail all that great on Wilhelm either, He has better options.

Appreciated, @Ha_Na and I Thank You.

Now that there’s two people suggesting, I will take another look at the Adaptive and whether extra resists that don’t apply when shields are down work better than shield stats.

It’s anecdotal and mostly unnecessary as combat works just fine to pop shield shield skills, but I could add it.
