Thanks, @Kurtdawg13 ! I get what you were after there, and that’s SUPER helpful down the road. Just trying to do this ‘clean’ a few times first, is all. You’re still alright; I don’t care what Jefe says about you.

I have. The Ahab isn’t even the best choice
Yes, all of those benefit from the effect, if works with all guns, as long as you have the pimp in the other hand.
Best choice is a Torgue Duuurp with a mag size of 6 (so, matching grip I think and mag size accessory)
Not only is it the highest damage you can get, but the secondary effect of slow rockets apply to the pimp orbs and make then have a very low and narrow arc, so they tend to stay inside your intended target.
The Norfleet might seem like the obvious choice, but the damage only equals the single pellet damage, so you don’t get the X3 on the card. That makes the Badaboom an especially poor choice.
Hyperius doesn’t have a shield, at least, not in that sense. The Tresspasser is of no help against him.
But if you intend to Pimp/RL Hyperius, you can kill him before he gets his shields up anyway

And here comes the part where I feel like a dork:
Turns out I took ‘Animal Rights’ a lot earlier than I thought. Trespasser was level 54. Card damage was like 23k and change, I think.
LUCKILY, there exist other characters in the OP levels with that quest open. As Uncle Sal is at 71 and some change after a few side quests, I’ll just take a hand-me-down from one of them before they reset UVHM (probably gonna be Big Sis, my Moxxxi-guns Siren) and all will be well.
While this isn’t related to fighting Vora I can say that I’ve done some small sample testing of a level 72 Trespasser vs. OP0-OP8 Pyro Pete with Sal using an on level Bee. Up to OP5 the level 72 Trespasser consistently took off Pete’s helmet. At OP6-7 the chance dropped to about 50% and at OP8 I couldn’t manage it. In short- an under leveled Trespasser, combined with an on level Bee, should still be able to take out the Chief (of course, actual testing still needs to be done
).

Only results I have with my new Trespasser so far are these against the target practice:
-
Critical hit, current setup, ~ 1.9 million dmg
-
Same plus Money Shot, ~ 8.7 million dmg
Didn’t bother with a Bee, so may need to re-do it. Also wasn’t gunzerking, BUT the magazine size with 10/5 FtB was like 11 or 13, so that seemed to be max or near-max M$ bonus (5/5). MIGHT swap to a Monk COM just for the chief, as they buff M$.
COM choices are currently limited. Got a green Renegade (meh), Leg. Berserker, blue true neutral Monk, some other purple Monk (fire rate and mag size, only +3 M$), and a green or blue Titan.
Not really sure how the various Sal bonuses work in terms of additive/multiplicative. OTOH, might not be that important. I’m thinking this should be a one to three shot kill on the chief.
Now to learn the position game; Need to have some space between me and Vora when the chief goes down, and preferably also be far from where the midgets come in.
Either Vora or the Peak coming up tonight, as my Sal just hit 72 last night. Gonna do Vora (and re-do Gee, Hyperius, Terramorphous, and Pete) at 72 before I hit OP8. May even look for help to spawn Vermi, just to check that block.

I did some testing with dual Jakobs. Check the links from Sljm and Chuck in the OP ; and you can see from my tests how they manifest.

So, I got three more attempts in at Vora today. No successes. This was all at level 72, with gear on-level. The Trespasser trick worked just fine. With Money Shot at 5/5, it was a two-shot deal. With it at 8/5, one-shot (one of the purple Monk COMs, with +3 M$, +fire rate, +magazine capacity). No Bee necessary, so no gear swap.
Bit of a mental hiccup there, as I was using the wrong grenade mod the whole time. Had an older shock singularity in, instead of the Chain Lightning I farmed just for this. 2/3 times, corrosive DoT from that ranged corrosive attack got me. Gonna have to pull out the Alkaline shield instead of the Rough Rider. As I spend most of the fight with the shield down, though, I’m not sure it’ll make that much of a difference; IIRC, that shield resistance only applies as long as the shield’s above 0. Am I wrong about that?
Also, I’m wondering if something like a fire-element shotgun might be a better choice for this fight. I’ve got a decent double-barrel Bandit fire shottie, and a nice (as much as they can be) single-barrel Tediore one too. Or I could just go for all-out badassitude with a Jakobs Quad I just got at the Peak.
Again, short of taking advantage of weird/wonky offhand mechanics here. Sure, I could Pimperhab it to death, but I wanna do this straight-up a few times first.

I would give a try with the Quad, but that’s mainly because I love Jakobs shotties. You would need to use a different setup with this shotgun to get a full Money Shot bonus consistently : your utility gun in your main hand and your Quad in your off hand, plus some skill adjustments because certain skills aren’t apply to your off hand, aka a Deputy Sal build. Also if I remember right, to proc Money Shot, you need to be able to fire twice with a gun.
Not helpful I supposed but … I really love Bandits shotguns with Sal but that’s a different gameplay. Compare the stats of the Jakobs and the Bandit shotguns, look at the reload speed, the damage, etc … anything that will make the fight easier for you. Test both to see if one suits better to your liking.

What is your Quad’s mag size with your Monk COM?
If it’s 5-8, I’d go with that and either a stockpile relic or Deputy’s Badge. If it’s higher, it might not be worth it.

I’ll look when I get home. Also meaning to try out the suggestion of FotF for this fight, so the shield-down novas can help heal during downtimes.
And I gotta do something about the particle effects. I’m whiffing so many shots (not just in this fight) because I can’t see my target.

The trick with the Firehawk is being able to keep it down, cuz if it starts to recharge, it’s tough to get it fully charged again so it can reset. Tesla grenades make the most sense I think. ( which means more visual pollution! )

If you are on PC, turn off Physics, that may reduce the visual pollution of some effects. There is also a mod that makes novas of the FoTF less uncomfortable for eyes.

I thought about how great a sticky Quasar would be here. Storm Front is in the realm of possibility; I completed that quest so I can go farm them dudes.

Why not just sticking to your Chain Lighting ? This is the perfect tool to get your health back.

Storm Front and Quasar keep up the damage for a couple seconds, even if they don’t apply DoT. So a poorly-timed Chain Lightning toss doesn’t screw me. Just a thought.
Also watched someone else’s Vora kill with almost the same gear (had a better Monk COM and a fire Interfacer), with Storm Front. Dropped that once or twice when he’d come out of Gunzerk, and it kept him up just fine.

Yup. Tough choice. If I weren’t a total scrub, it wouldn’t be a problem.

I use storm fronts with Sal for that reason: They last very long, reach very wide and keep me healthy when i’m out of gunzerk as long as i’m holding a grog.

Easy to farm, too. So is Chain Lightning. While I love Quasar, it’s not so easy to acquire.

I’m totally agree with all of those points but since you already got a Chain Lightning … Anyway, Storm Front, Chain Lightning, they are both good nades, thing is to learn how to play with them.
