Has anyone else finally stopped playing?

Still playing and will continue. I’m not a professional streaming player, just an ok player on a console. Love Borderlands and I get frustrated with the glitches etc., but still play.

I got all the 300>90 annoints on the cartel weapons then stopped playing… haven’t played in about a week or two.

The day Cartel launched, and the night after, my console (Xbox One X) crashed more than it has the 9 months the game has been out. The kicker is I was playing at M3. The new modifiers weren’t affecting me, or I don’t believe they were. Also, I was playing as FL4K. I haven’t played since then.

I get on every night still, play for a little and loose interest fast, last night I played through the cartel once, turned it in and could not bring myself to do it again. I want to love it, I want to like it but it’s just a chore to play.

I’ll never understand that mentality. It’s like people are ok with being hustled. :joy: It’s definitely strange.

Im waiting for new content (not interested in getting the perfect loadout).

i think most people don’t want the perfect loadout right now

i was steamrolling M4… i just wanted increased difficulty…

played a few days after M2.0 and haven’t touched it 2 weeks or so now…

if they are still taking the scaled weapons route i’m shelving this game for ever (only returning to play the DLC’s because of season pass)

i hate being pigeonholed

Haha that’s funny you mentioned the perfect load out, because that’s the only reason I have to keep playing the game.

I’ve already experienced everything the game has to offer, can solo takedown on m10 etc. However, every time I go in, I keep thinking there must be a way to tweak my load out more efficiently so I go looking for the right combination of weapons and annoints.

I don’t know what other point there is to keep playing in the long term (speaking for myself here) apart from perfecting my builds. There’s just not alot of aspirational endgame content.

The best thing about the game at the moment is the cartel event. It’s much better than 2.0.

I play the game 2 different ways
I solo farm
I play coop with my Mrs, we don’t farm we just play through things.

She’s not been on as much recently so I’ve been spending more time farming. The last few plays farming saw me dipping out the game more and more. The last 2 times I booted the game up solo I played for 30 mins before turning it off and the other time I didn’t get past rolling modifiers before turning it off.

My Mrs came on lastnight we went through the proving grounds m4 so less modifiers with the cartels on and had an absolute blast. I mean so much fun please keep this event going.

Im averaging 4 hours per dedicated drop and they are all terrible annoints. Stuff like this… It’s just so frustrating, I’ve farmed before in other games. It’s not the farming. You put the hours in, feel good for about 1 second when the item you want drops only to be deflated when you read the card.

I can’t even remember how long it’s been. I quit the week after M2.0 was released. Went back to BL2 for a while, played it and TPS with a buddy who similarly walked away from 3, and have enjoyed that. Got heavily into Streets of Rage 4 from day one, got that platinum trophy, and moved on to a more chill and enjoyable kind of farming with Stardew Valley. I can’t really say I miss BL3 at all right now.

I haven’t stopped, but the amount of time I put into it has diminished quite a bit. There’s really nothing to do. When DLC 2 came out I originally did the story on MH 2 and then farmed items at MH 10 when that came out. But there’s no point in doing that DLC, DLC 1 or any side missions with other characters b/c nothing scales. And now you can’t even get Takedown loot such as the redistributor or Kyb’s worth

Yeah … That’s the feeling .

Stopped playing for some time now . Waiting for new DLC and Takedown.
I see no reason to play right now : it not fun and all your items will become obsolete very soon .

Can’t wait for new story , though !

I stopped playing a couple weeks or so ago. Was getting bored with the game before Mayhem 2.0 and hoped the M2.0 update would reinvigorate my interest, but it was such a mess that it just killed my motivation to play even with the Cartel event and all the cool new legendaries and anointments to try out. Maybe I’ll try the new Takedown when it’s released, or just wait until the next DLC comes out. Until then I’ll just be playing other games. Currently hunting achievements in Borderlands: GOTY Edition that I didn’t get the first time around.

Yeah, haven’t finished even one event mission to be honest. I can decently run it on m5-7 but killing enemies just takes a little longer. Which is fine by me. What is not fine is insane and pointless visual clutter. It’s like increased difficulty means you get higher chance to catch epilepsy.
On lesser difficulty, I feel fine with visual stuff. But the harder it gets the less sense it makes.

I believe that grindy games should at least have option to remove or tone down graphics effects/post-processing. I’m here for tens and hundreds of hours, you don’t need to surprise me with tons of particles.

That’s one factor why I’m just not having any interest in playing right now.

Keep in mind, I don’t play a lot, just an hour or two a day. So if I play 8-10 hours of the game it’s basically I’ve played the game the whole week. If I don’t get anything as an “upgrade” in 8 hours it’s basically I’ve wasted a whole week of my free time on nothing. It’s super sad and frustrating.

  • So I decided “fine I’m going to just play the game incrementally and gear up a little”. I’ve farmed a bit the Athenas while Loot The Universe was active. Well, that was not really rewarding experience. Nothing exceptional, just a bunch “above average stuff”.

  • After that, I thought “Okay, this is not productive, lets just farm Traunt”. I’ve done that for another couple of days. What can I say? I’ve got a Kaoson with mediocre anoint. A believe it’s M6 or 7. But who knows, we don’t have Mayhem indicator. Everything else was “above average stuff”. To be honest didn’t feel like an upgrade because the save-quit process is just plain boring and bad game design.

  • The Loot event moved to Eden-6 so I’ve started to farm Aurelia. I’ve thought it’s a good chance to get Frozen Heart and probably a Nukem, as her area has been dedicated to Heavies. I’ve farmed Aurelia four days for about 1 - 1.5. Not a single upgrade.

I finally got bored and decided that the event, Yellowcacke, new anoints and everything else is just not worth my time. The mayhem system is unfinished, the visual systems in the game are scaling poorly and lack of ways to narrow the RNG (like being able to re-roll anoints, change gun parts or whatever ways to actually work on your build) together just create really not a rewarding experience.

It just blows my mind how after BL2 and TPS and 7 years between BL2 and B3 they didn’t catch the issues with save-quitting, visual sugar, UI (I suppose I need to count 10 seconds after ASE myself), Inventory management and all the important things that kept people around all 7 years.

What will definitely bring be back

  • Ways to narrow RNG and work on your character stats and gear instead of beating loot-pinatas in hopes RNG lords gonna hear my begging;
  • Improvements to visual clarity and less pollution on screen.

While I don’t agree on BL3 not feeling rewarding (aka upgrades dropping while casually running maps because I play the exact same way and it does feel rewarding to me. But it depends on expectations, already gathered gear and stuff), I highly agree on this part above!
I love Borderlands as a whole and I like BL3. But it baffles me how they missed some issues that are right there, in plain sight.
Save-quitting? Really? C’mon!
And inventory management ist just painful. How could they release the game with such an awful system?
I am still tanking through, trying to play everyday because I am just happy to have a fresh BL experience. But there’s so much Gbx should focus on. Foremost, the bugs, then the stuff they broke by implementing Mayhem 2.0 and then quality of life features…

It’s a bit of a strange feeling tbh because GBX have clearly shown that they are trying to fix issues and deliver content people will be happy with. Even in the last week they’ve released a big statement outlining that they’ve listened to feedback and are taking steps to try to improve things. Now you may argue they’re not very good at sorting things out effectively, but I don’t know how it’s possible to come to the conclusion that they don’t care whether you play or not since the evidence clearly shows the opposite.

Thing is , they should have communicated that well since day 1. It’s not rocket science.

Instead most of the time we are left scratching our heads and wondering what the point of that nerf was, or what thier intent is to buff things like Fl4ks pets or under performing or broken skills, or why are they adding more and more Annointments to already saturated pool, etc

Another thing : how long have they been working on Mayhem 2.0 ? Months now ? And THIS is what we get ? Were they really working on it for months or did they just scramble at the last minute and throw in some random “fun” modifiers and cranked up enemy health armor sheild to levels well beyond power creep with ZERO testing?

Sure feels like the latter to me.

Look at the lifecycle of BL2. Me and my wife played that game consistently for what? 3 years or so ?

BL3? Stopped playing within days of M2.0.

Will I come back? Probably not. By the time the next 2 or 3 patches come out to correct this huge mess , we will have games like Cyber Punk, assassins creed Valhalla , ghost of Tushinma (sp), all AAA titles and I highly doubt they will be the mismanaged mess BL3 was and is.

This game will likely be a wasteland by that time. It’s a competitive market with zero tolerance for gross incompetence IMO.

I think there’s a valid argument to be made about the questionable way they’ve gone about things, for sure. Some of the decisions are baffling and the issues problematic. There are definitely things that could have been done more professionally.

However, the fact that we do get regular hotfixes and that they are constantly changing things does lend itself to the idea that they do care whether people play or not, otherwise they’d just leave it as it is with minor tweaks and milk for whatever it’s worth. People may certainly have grounds for complaint on execution and communication but I don’t think there are any to suggest that GBX don’t care. Quite the opposite.

Sure man but look at the vast majority of hotfixes: they are usually for progression blockers (which is understandable) or for things people literally never asked for. The major ones , like Moze MoD , Fl4ks pet damage, etc never got addressed. Releasing hotfixes to fix bugs are kind it the bare minimum a developer has to do right ?

Exception to this was the 2 or 3 weeks right before M2.0 came out. GbX was on a ROLL especially with Iron Bear and Moze. It’s like they suddenly decided to try out Moze and realised " wait a second, she or Ib aren’t balanced at all for end game!"

…buuuut then came M2.0… which not only hilariously negated all of those moze and IB buffs completely, it basically made months and months of weapon buffs utterly pointless as now 99% of guns and gear are pea shooters at M10. It’s like the game is being developed by 3 sets of people who dont even talk.

I’d honestly pay good money to have 20 minutes with the devs and ask them exactly what were they thinking putting in so much work and effort buffing Iron Bear then 3 weeks later releasing M2.0 and completely negating all that. If I can ask only ONE question it would be that one
