Has matchmaking improved for anyone recently? Solo play still bad in my personal experience (mostly queued vs pre-mades). Pre-mades rock

When I queue up solo for versus matches the majority of the time I’m still getting pitted against pre-mades of 4-5. I’ve taken an average of my last 30 solo queue games and about 70% of them are against pre-mades while no one on my team is grouped with friends.

The massive level differences has somewhat improved as expected (more people are leveling up the longer the game is out) but I haven’t really noticed a difference in pre-mades vs soloers. Obviously levels don’t necessarily equal skill but it’s still annoying to be in a game where everyone besides me is level 3-8 while the other team is in the 30s or beyond. At this point, I’m usually getting queued with people in their 10s or 20s as far as my teams go.

When my friends aren’t playing (which is frequently) I basically solo queue until I get on a team with people who don’t suck and then try to join their games. This improves things a lot but sometimes I can play a BUNCH of games before I find people who don’t just mindlessly attack. When I heal as Miko in a pre-made my team almost always wins in devastating style.

I’d like the game to be more fun/balanced for solo queuing though.

Also, for the note my queue times are usually only 1-2 minutes so that’s super nice. Doesn’t matter if I play day or night I almost always get in a game immediately. I’ve heard some people complaining about queue times, not really sure what’s up with that besides geographic location (i.e outside the states).

By the way… this is a screenshot from my last game. Not only was it a total solo queue vs a FULL pre-made but just look at the level differences as well.

That’s about an average matchup for me when I solo queue… although more players are in their 10s now compared with a few days ago. In that game we lost in 6 minutes and did NOT surrender. It gets really old really fast when my friends aren’t online and I have to solo queue as most games ARE as bad as in that screenshot.

I guess I’m lucky or something? The kind of matches in that screenshot happen maybe once every 10 matches for me. I play in a premade with relatively high levels and we almost ALWAYS get groups with an average level of 50 or so. Our last few matches have been pretty close and feels like an actual challenge.

When I solo queue I also usually get matched up with people in my level range, sometimes I fight premades but not enough for it to really be a huge deal. Guess I’m just in the minority.

Odd, I have roughly 40 games completed and I’ve only ran into one pre-made team(I have ran into several groups of 2 however, though they usually aren’t that hard to beat). Guess it might have to do with the fact that I play meltdown almost exclusively? If anyone can confirm/deny my statement, it would be appreciated.

Regardless of that fact, I’d like a separate matchmaking system for pre-made teams. I’ve only played one game against a pre-made, but it was definitely one of the worst games I’ve played (the players weren’t even that good either, their galilea got killed at least 3 times trying to go up against the giant rocket turrets that protect our spawn).

I play on PC. When I’m in a premade myself, the matches seem to be more balanced and the level differences aren’t too drastic. The problem is the majority of the time when I solo queue, the matches ARE ridiculous and I’m usually up against a premade while no one on my team is grouped with friends. It’s annoying to play solo. 30% or so of the time I solo queue I’m not against a premade and my teams do fairly well and my chances of winning are reasonable.

I play Miko a lot, and in a lot of my solo queue matches even if I do nothing but heal 90% of the time I still somehow end up with more kills than most of my teammates… Think about that… I’ll be healing the crap out of people and I still get more kills than other players. I should have tons of assists, not kills lol. In my premades I’ll often have 20+ assists and a few kills. In a game that lasts 30 minutes I usually do over 100k healing whether it’s a premade or not. How the hell do I do 100k healing in a solo queue match and STILL have the most kills?

Yea, just had my first game of the night. 5 pubs vs a team of 5, got pushed back and held at a door for 15 minutes, when they got bored they just pushed in and took it. People kept leaving the queue, delaying the start, once in the game someone left before we were out of the start area… When they took our base I tried to surrender but no one on my team of 4 vs a premade of 5 was having it so I just had to sit there.

If I can’t get a surrender vote right off the bat, and can’t join a new game until the premades get bored of farming people for stats, I will not be playing this game in a week. Don’t care about galil, or rath’s ult, or lack of maps, or snipers soloing the first objective of overgrowth… but being stomped when my friends aren’t all on means people will stop playing this game unless in a group because there is no point and the online will die out.

Need ranked matches or at least matchmaking that doesn’t pit a team against people not working together via party chat.

The matchmaking should pit teams grouped up against a team that is grouped up, with a leeway of one. meaning a team of 5 can only be set up with a team of 2 and a team of 2, 2 teams of 2 and a solo, or a team of 4 or 5. A team of 2 can be matched with opponents of all pubs. A team of 4 can only be matched up with a team of 5, 4, 2 2’s, 2 and 3, or 3 and 2 pubs etc.

The bar on the side of the screen should never be more than +1 of the other teams grouped bar at any time. Otherwise it’s just a stomping and demoralizing.

This game needs ranked play either way, as people start to understand it the skill gap is widening… which is GREAT! but bad for matchmaking based on … first come first serve.
