Heliophage Co-Op Rendain: Too Many Adds

Me and a friend beat got gold on advanced yesterday at our first try, but even then I still think there are way too many adds or at least not enough cover to hide from their constant ranged fire. The map was fun up until that point I feel, it got pretty boring having to spend 5 lives, which would not be possible on hardcore obviously.

It could be that we ran a poor comp, but even if we had taken a healer, keeping up with that much ranged damage is hard.
I think if they could modify the boss map so that you’re supposed to hold a different platform each time and add more cover objects, it would improve it a lot. If they added a mechanic where you need to stay on certain platforms so to centralise the combat. You might have to use more than one platform so melee characters can still do stuff too.

I really liked Saboteur because the objective was very hard, but staying alive wasn’t the main challenge. Staying alive is partly the main challenge in Heliophage, but I think if they change the boss map it could create a more “Saboteur like” feeling of the challenge.

There’s a key difference between both though: Saboteur is a defense-type mission while Heliophage is a raid-type mission.

Yes you’re right, but I also feel like they could capture the same type of feeling with the raid type objective.

Just completed this solo with Boldur, and have got to say it was not fun. Did the shards with 1:00 to spare, I left a lot of the adds, and then ground it out against Rendain and friends finishing it after almost 50 minutes all told.

It wasn’t that difficult apart from the end fight when Rendain spawns 3 spinning blades, from this point on I pinged around the middle platform like I was stuck in a pinball machine, losing 8 lives by being bounced off the side of the platform sucked big time.

The part where the veralsi guy turns up with the shields was pretty BS as well, the shield bearers are on platforms and the only way I could kill them was with my axe throw which has a 10 second cd so yeah that was a hoot too.

This is my only mission I need to do on normal. If anyone wants to help out I am on xbox1. GT is Obiwan Shagnobi

Had a few runs 5 man (randoms) on advance where we somehow managed to get to the final fight against Rendain.
A few observations that might help:
Ideal team:
Isic (for insane DPS against bosses & mob clearing, basically non stop turret mode)
Reyna: for marking targets & hitpoint upkeep
Rath: boss & mob DPS
Oskar Mike: stealth revives
Marquis: optional to take out high value targets, maybe someone else is better for fifth slot, idk

for the countdown to apocalypse part I prefer going left from the console (where Mellka and Deande are standing) first, it might be harder but you can level up faster and pick up lots of shards to buy your gear on the way, when the first shard is down, go back the way you came towards the start then go right from the console. that part should be a cakewalk now
Oh btw don’t rush it. when you make the jumps to the combat areas make sure to establish a beachhead and kill everything on your path to the shards. don’t let them flank you or take out your damage dealer Isic. If you are melee don’t
expect help if you rush ahead and let your fire support get swarmed. protect your ranged DPS

for the boss fight, try to stick together, clear minions / adds whenever you can but the bosses need to go fast, concentrate on one at a time if possible (need to work out who the prime targets should be, kill order).
most important; make sure you have a place to retreat to and regroup. if you get wiped wait for the team to assemble in the spawn room. Lives are expensive, its the most important resource so try not to waste them.

just some thoughts that I wanted to leave here, maybe that will help you.

And we just beat him with 5 randoms on advanced. Gold.
And it was almost my ideal team. As if those other guys had just read my previous post.
