Simple. A 3 second timer after making a helix choice where you can change it. I can’t see this negatively impacting anyone. And if you choose 'Nades on 'Nades? That feels like a Multiload of regret. Maybe a slightly longer timer, but too long and it could be an issue. Sure it’s just one 30 minute match, but I would not feel Instantly Gratified if I made the wrong choice.
Nothing like accidentally selecting kelvins slow trail on sublimate to make you want to rage quit.
Honestly, I’d rather be able to “preselect” which helixes will be activated before I leveled up rather than waiting until I level up (and then taking a break from doing stuff after I level up because you can’t do anything while selecting helixes) to select it.
It would give players something to do during the wait time before a PvP match begins and something to do during the inevitable short periods of sitting around that occur in PvE games. As long as you can change it before you level up (e.g. you choose but it’s not activated and locked until you hit that level), I don’t see much need for being able to change it afterwards.
This would be sooooo great! Even 2 seconds would be enough, its making me crazy to switch from Orendi to Phoebe since I choose the wrong option on lv.6 nearly everytime, and I need Passata Sotto.
I understand its a perk of the game and even a challange (aka: keep your head cool in the heat of battle to avoid mistakes) but I think 2 seconds to change the choice would be a big quality-of-life addition.
Haha I love my completely insane glass cannons and their weird survival skills (as both require being in combat). Yeah, honestly the time probably doesn’t matter. Just that their is time.
This would be a great change. Even without a timer, you could have a kiosk in your spawn or something where you could buy changes, with the cost climbing rapidly to keep people from switching their helix too often.
This seems like the best solution, the idea of having presets isn’t the best because you might want to change it up. But pre-selecting would be perfect, you could populate your helix once seeing the enemy team and then change things if you need to if something changes in the match.
Preselects could work if you had a specific button to activate it. Let’s use T as an example (assuming PC)
When you level up, you can press Q or E (or F if mutation) just like normal… or hit T to go with your preset default option.
Of course, this still runs the risk of accidently going with your preset when you wanted to change it up, but c’est la vie.
If you wanted a reselect option, it should be in the spawn area, and on a limited timer. 30 seconds maybe, a minute tops. If you mis-click, you can port back, click on something in there, and it un-chooses your most recent pick.
Omg I’ve done that so many times thinking I was level 4 instead of 3 lol
I was grinding El Dragon clothesline lore on Algorithm swarmers when I levelled up to 9.
A helix that gives 10% cooldown bonus per clothesline hit? That will make this go MUCH faster seeing as how I’m hitting 10 enemies at a time, so I’ll just… wait whoops no no no WHYYYYYYYYY.
A do-over would be nice.
I’d like to be able to pre-select a helix build ahead of time. I don’t have that much trouble when picking helixes I always use but sometimes I wan’t to try a different build and oops! - I just picked The Usual instead of the one I wanted to try. It’s a bummer.
It could also help newer players who aren’t yet used to their helix at all + people on console since the helix menu can be tough to read.
Just allow that the CURRENT LEVEL helix choice can be changed at any time. Not that simple, I know. Still.
Wouldn’t work well in PvP because a lot of those helix choices are highly situational (not to mention that leveling is way slower than in PvE). As an example, you could (feasibly) choose between Ambra’s level 7 lifesteal helix and her fireball stick helix based on what the situation required.
Also, you’re completely ignoring how it would impact the level 10 helix choices, since, once you’re there, you’re there permanently. With your system, you’d be able to tweak your ultimate as much as you wanted as many times as you wanted.
