All of our tournaments for battleborn will be postponed untill the DLC comes out on October 13th. We have seen a major decline in participants in the last month and we feel that it is time to wait for the community to grow bigger or for the interest in competitive Battleborn to increase. We are planning to sechdule tournaments for the new competitive mode Face Off after its release.

On another note we are still working on getting all of those things ready that we promised you in a earlier post. We are looking for people in the community that would be interested in helping out with our community showcase and battleborn talk show that will be streamed on our twitch. Also still looking for anyone that is interested in casting the upcoming tournaments.

I think tournaments shouldn’t ban legendaries. Seriously when I think of a tournament I think of the tournament consisting of: The best players, teams, characters played to the best of their abilities, and them using the best items in the game.

I just can’t get interested in even watching the tournaments knowing that they ban what I consider to be a big strategic element to this game. I think handicapping the players in tournaments is really lame and uninteresting.

Tournaments shouldn’t be forgiving to people that don’t want to grind or are unlucky, tournaments exist to tell people to “Get good, because we are the best of the best,” it shouldn’t cater to those that say “well that shouldn’t be allowed because it is unfair or I don’t have it.” I’m all for having picks and bans on characters and I would be behind having either team pick a couple legendaries to ban for a match, because that adds strategy to the game while not taking anything away for good.

I agree, lately moba tournaments have been lackluster with item bans and meta despite the fact that there are other characters that are just as good

Exactly, I like watching tournaments, but not when I know that there is better stuff that they could be using in the game. I want to know what the best team would use for their gear given that they can use any gear. I believe tournaments shouldn’t exclude parts of the game as whole, shoot excluding legendaries makes caring about shard economy useless because the most any gear will cost is less than a turret. also takes away strategies for building your character early game versus late game, I know if I have a legendary I probably won’t activate it till after level 5, where if I have no legendaries I’m going to activate my gear early. So much interesting parts of battleborn are stripped away because of the decision to exclude legendaries, that it makes the tournaments very uninteresting.

It’s just sad really, I actually watch smite tournaments because there is at least one team that uses non meta characters and shows how good they are and how the meta characters are not the best

Yea, you can at least root for the underdog because they have decided to go against the masses and are not using what everyone claims is “the best.” I want “the best” in the game so people can show in a competitive level that using those items doesn’t make the character good, it is the player.

Exactly, and even then that character can be bashed for high risk high reward, I’m like, seriously, so yall consider yourselves the best, but you won’t be using hard to play characters

Lol right, its like “Hey we are the best and we want to show everyone we are the best, but to make it fair no one can use legendaries because its not fair.” Wait what!? If you are the best at this game why are you afraid of allowing legendary gear, is it because you are afriad of losing to the gear? If you are the best and use the same gear shouldn’t you be able to beat them?

I just can’t take the tournaments seriously because of this.

I hope if battleborn on PC (since sadly, apparently the masses consider the ONLY relevant platform) gets a big revival that there will be what is lacking in tournaments, VARIETY

Well the problem with legendary gear allowed in a tournament is that no one will play. We have done this before and got bashed for it pretty hard probably one of the reasons why some teams don’t play in our tournaments.

Omg @cadecampbell and @jokerking9211 all of what you said is very much how I feel about the competitive concept of this game. Not allowing legendaries but allowing 0 cost items to me seems so utterly ass backwards for top tier play. Needs to be a ban list as well for legendaries as there is for heros. A huge amount of gear is basically worthless especially on the legendary level. What would you guys do about character legendarys in this particular situation though?

We need some sort of separation of tourney environment. One that has Legos active and another that doesn’t

Damn, i would play in the tourneys, but i dont get off work on saturdays and sundays in time. I just wanted to express how i felt about legendaries in tourneys. But what i want for battleborn never seems to be the popular opinion. I had hoped meltdown would be the most popular mode because i feel like that mode would be more entertaining to watch from a viewer side and i feel like it has more strategies available. Incursion won though, that mode would be so boring to watch.

Im glad we have quick play now though so i can play meltdown again, hopefully the dlc and the balance chamges coming will bring in emough players to run the tournaments again.

The real big question with character legendaries is toby’s, that is the one character people really have an issue with. I feel if a team is worried about it then they can use one of their legendary/character bans, if we give each team ban picks then it is up to the teams to use them strategically, thats the whole point of giving teams ban picks.

Incursion is fun to play, but only REALLY cool to watch on monuments, meltdown is really fun to watch and play, though watching paradise is only just good

I think paradise is probably the worst of the meltdown maps design wise, because it is the easiest map to force a spawn camp. I like paradise because it is the smallest map, but something should be done to the map to help prevent the infamous spawn camping.
