Yeah, I did it the same way. Fell a few times too from the containers 
Guess it wasnât the terror applied to you what brought out the loot ghosts afterall, it was just simple RNG.
Was going to get back about this also today. I did some testing and couldnt really tell it helped. But i did realize not keeping the green ones away from me to concentrate on the loot ghost was easier.
