I just tried it today and I found the dome pretty fun. Like everyone has said it is a little less dense than I would have liked but it was par for the course for a dome.
I imagine I’ll enjoy the new 10 levels and new gear more than the dome itself.

I have a little question: are there as many traps in the holodome as there are in the magic slaughter in the tiny tina-dlc of bl2?
I found the magic slaughter was a bit too “trappy”.
I don’t think that there are nearly as many. There’s the sawblade pit, some electrical columns, sometimes zero atmosphere during a wave and the gate of light in one of the later rounds.
I have to agree with you about the magic slaughter. Those spikes ticked me off. And don’t get me started on the trapdoors: randomly opening when I went to get ammo…
Magic Slaughter traps drove me nuts… I felt they overdid them. It was tough to focus on the baddies AND the spammy traps at the same time… and trolling trap doors made sad faces happen :<
In the end, I decided to stick near the large door where badass skeletons can spawn. It was actually safer than the large trapdoor area. The upper section where archers can spawn was a decent area to retreat to when overwhelmed, but archers seem more powerful to me than they should be. They do quite a lot of damage, the arrows slow me down and I feel that they are more accurate than some of the gun-toting bandits in the game. I just barrage them with explosive grenades and my SWORDSPLOSION!!! now and it’s very satisfying.
I really enjoyed the Holodome. Its challenging, heart-pounding, rewards you with new legendary loot, and allows you to gain XP at a decent pace.
I would pay $10 again for this DLC, no question.
Where can I get the berrigan? Is it a drop from a special enemy or does it drop randomly from all bigger enemys in the dome?
its the reward for the badass round.
The first few rounds really felt lacking in mob density. Too big of an area for too little of enemies to mow down. If the devs can somehow increase the spawns, then it’s a welcome change for me. If such limited number of enemies is due to a technical limitation, then nothing can be done about it at this point.
I love it I’ve played it a bunch already and plan on doing it a lot more. I think we are just starting to figure out the loot, some of it is really powerful stuff, some great coms as well. I also think they did some of the best work with heads and skins in any of the game so far with these ones.
The domes pacing is a bit off and some of the early rounds are not the best, but every arena is like that. The BA round is the repeatable one and that is what I focus on because its going to be the replay value and the BA round is really really good. I have a feeling some of the “reviews” on youtube never even played the BA round because all the poor reviews were also showing rounds 2-3. They clearly didn’t even try to understand the loot either.
This thing is really fun and its not hide and seek at all. In the BA round you get over run more than you are looking for enemies.
Is it worth $10 yeah for what I’m going to get out of it for sure. I do agree however that because this is very much on par with the UVHM2 pack with digi peak that was $5, that pricing it at $5 is probably a better idea. From the sounds of it the upcoming DLC is also much more than the $10 dlc’s we have seen in the past.
Anyways holodome = tons of fun, level cap is great, new gear is great, new heads and skins are amazing. This is a win.
Also there better be jump pads in every borderlands game from here on out.
The holodome is really great for a few reasons.
It gives you a throw back of the early bosses without them being at a really low level, and you don’t have to re-find them.
gives you unique dialogue about some BR2 charterers.
helps you level up in a fun way.
The only problem I had was the huge hole in the middle of the mad is really annoying, I got pushed into once.
Good luck to any one reading this to beat the holodome
I still don’t care much for the holodome (including the badass round).
Specifically it’s the boring music (music is very poor in general in TPPS compared to BL2), the thing is still way too big, and the enemy variety is poor. It would’ve been much better if the badass round ended with a random boss pick, but no, we only get Flameknuckle as far as I’m aware. (On a side note: why aren’t there any places to digistruct chests like in certain areas in BL2?)
What dissapoints me the most is that by this time in BL2’s DLC cycle we had 2 campaign DLCs and a new character. So far we have a new character and a lame slaughterdome. I know there’s supposedly some huge DLC coming but having some endgame to play during the holidays would’ve been better. The holodome had the potential to be great endgame. However, apart from the Plunkett, Nukem, and T4S-R it just ends up disappointing.
I rather they take their time making a great DLC than rushing something half-assed for the sake of “endgame”.
After playing the Holodome, I can honestly say I was SO DISAPOINTED! 95% of it is recycled, even the music? I’m sorry Gearbox, but if the CUSTOM maps on Borderlands Classic have less recycled content than people who get paid to do them, something is seriously wrong here. I was really hoping for The Holodome Onslaught to be the moment tps finally shines through but I have high expectations I guess.
-Cut dome size by 1/3rd
-make all jump pads always overcharged (this annoyed me, badly)
-Add a better mission giver than another flippin claptrap (shock drop trainer anyone?)
-half the amount of gawdamn flying enemys
-Double the enemy count
-Make the round more varied (soldiers, then guardians, then seras, then ophas… Yawn)
-Make Axton less brain-dead
Then I would have no complaints
EDIT: TAKE OUT THE FKING HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DOME. Nothing worse than slogging though a boring ass half hour round just to go buttslam a guy and kill yourself in the hole
The first few rounds were pretty bad, but whatever. The bad ass round is tough though, I’m at 57 right now and I’m going to wait till I’m 60 and get some good gear before I try it again, could not complete wave 1! I was pretty skeptical about the dome until I tried the BA round, it’s good stuff. Do you get chests during the BA round like in round 5? Also I like the pit in the middle, when I was low in ammo I could slam the ophas into the pit, it was nice!
Ophas aren’t very smart. It’s pretty easy to get them to just walk into the pit, especially the spinning-blade-ring part.
People of Elpis! This is why I love Oz Kits that give Air Control bonuses. Nøpe signing off \o
On-topic:
I was really intimidated before I started playing. Since I’m on Linux, I got the DLC on the 22nd (WINK WINK ASPYR, WINK F-ING WINK), and really thought I was gonna have a bad-to-mediocre time playing it, but I actually really loved the Holodome. Of course there are many problems with it. For starters, it’s too huge to be actually action-packed enough to feel like a SLAUGHTER dome, and I’m not even gonna get on the subject of the soundtrack being just a copypasta of Eleseer, but on the good side, I never really felt like it was hide-and-seek, enemies were almost always targeting and trying to kill me, and I liked that. The additional tasks are also good, though they could have gone more creative on that matter. The weapons… I don’t really use any of them, but I like some of the concepts. But the heads and skins… [NERDGASMS]
Holodome could’ve been awesome, but it looks like they made it in hurry, according to post on gearbox about guns. WHY? There’s no reason to do something in hurry, you could’ve just said “Holodome will be delayed, because we want to add awesome things”. Nooo…Holodome is worth 6$: 5 - lvl cap, skills etc., 1 - new guns.
