should i test the duality against the tranquility? (although the o2 levels would be hard to monitor)
regardless of your reply i am now off to do the test with a tranquility on hot lead sparks
All we really need to know is if elemental dualities boost DoTs as well as raw damage. the rest can be math-ed
though more data is never useless. Just make sure to unspec most skills that could corrupt your results
duality vs tranquility. using same babymaker and skill tree http://thepresequel.com/Nisha/0000000000000000000000050051005000 (used for all tests)
on an unshielded mugger level 70
tranquility with 196 o2 (close enough to full for me): 7132 (hot lead spark)
duality: 8157 (hot lead spark)
tranquility should be higher but i think that the duality will still beat it, but only by a little.
even though the duality does more damage than the tranquility in terms of hot lead the tranquility will probably still beat it in total DPS (with bullets and somesuch)
gonna vendor farm for a duality with +element damage in an atmosphere and take it to the test dummy to see if the dot is affected
I have to chime in on this before running back to your build thread to comment now that I am home from my long drive. That video made by pip I have found to be illegitimate, and anyone hoping to reproduce what they see in that video will be sorely disappointed to find out that it is 100% completely impossible to “melt” the invincible sentinel in the manner shown in his video because he was using an outside program on the pc to manipulate all of his shots regardless of where they hit to have a 100% chance to crit (thus making HoT lead dots and sparks chain infinitely and massively melt the boss because of the constant chain, you can even see the shield draining absurdly fast while both his guns are reloading). As far as I’m concerned he probably cheats in all of his videos he makes as that’s not the only video I have found he cheated in and so it infuriates me just thinking about it
oh, my bad. but hot lead dots still do great work and i thought this gear and testing could help. PS try to hot lead dot melt the bosun or dead lift. it works. probably not to the degree in pips video, but still, fun.
got the results for the duality dot test. just using my standard mobbing nisha build because none of it influences elemental dots (i think) http://thepresequel.com/Nisha/4101410140515550100050105501005151/higcrapshooter,auto
both tests on a level 70 shielded cosmonaut
gear used: duality kit: +42 shock damage and +45 electrocute chance in a vacuum
level 70 white maliwan sniper. dot damage: 6318 per sec.
without duality: 6318 (i need to redo this test because i just thought that the dot would be equal to the listed value, its not because shock on shields gets a damage bonus, real value is 7068)
with duality: 7940
so yes, the duality buffs dots, so if i find one with fire damage in an atmosphere, i might try to do a little variation on a jakobs setup with it and rely on the dot. doubt it’ll work, but it might do serious damage. now i just have to find one
.
So wait are we just being dumb again I think incendiary/shock/corrosive/cryo just buff all instances, but there’s just random boosts just for the DoTs…
random dot boosts? i was seeing that in my testing but i thought its was just the guy losing his shield, so i took average values.
I think he meant that some terms will boost both DOTs and RAW damage while some don’t, not that the boost is applied randomly
oh, ok. if only their was elemental relic o2 kits, with constant 39% multiplicitive fire damage.
Well, if you can find 2 duality that boost the same element but in different environment, you could always swap whenever you change place and almost always have the bonus.
true, though i think that there is not “+element damage in an atmosphere” dualities out there. i farmed for one and only ever got the ones with a vacuum bonus. might be my luck, but 20 o2 kits with elemental damage in a vacuum seems pretty grim.
All of Jakobs guns aside, what are other good alternatives for NE guns that would benefit from this Hot Lead+ 11/5 Tombstone + Trickshot synergy?
Pretty much any gun will work.
I think shotguns in general are prime candidates for Nisha to abuse: They are balanced around their low accuracy, which trick shot corrects; they can have a crit accessory, 50% crit bonus is nothing to sneeze at; and they usually have smallish mags so they can also benefit from the other NE skill quite well.
The only think I don’t know is if Hot lead’s damage is based on
1: the actual hit
2:the total card damage
or 3:a single pellet ?
Used right, snipers can be very deadly too considering their high damage (upon which Hot lead is dependent), inherent crit bonus, and ease of getting that first kill to activate Tombstone. I guess Vladof SR would be at the top here.
I believe its based on the single pellets damage. If multiple pellet crits, then it is multiplied by that.
The shotguns that are non Jakobs and can be NE:
Boganella and Sledges shottie come to my mind. Sledge having lower mag size can benefit from Mag Six more. It has also lower ammo consumption. I bet NE Thinkings would be also good with this. Their only downside is they don’t have higher base damage then their elemental variants.
For SMG’s I remember I had tested meat grinder SMG and it was good with Craphooter, due to its pellets. NE variant of it can be good with Hot Lead.
For Machine Guns, Major Tom, Fussilade and Shredifier can have NE alternatives.
Shotguns are probably best alternatives, as you said, they benefit from the Mag Six quite well
A NE Pitchfork maybe?
So, its 1: the actual hit.
Major Tom is nice, it’s almost a shotgun in it’s behavior, and ARs would be great to take advantage of hot lead, as it’s damage is based on pre-crit damage, so their crit debuff would not affect Hot Lead.
Other than Scav shotguns, a glitched NE Thinking would be pretty potent.
One thing though: If I remember correctly from BL2, elemental version of guns that can be NE are slightly less damaging (about 20%), and that’s usually the biggest draw for NE guns (long time forumites may remember my old guide on elements on the old forum, and how NE guns are far better than given credit for)
But that rule didn’t apply to shotguns for some reason (in effect, in BL2, there were no real good reasons to get a NE version of a shotgun that could be elemental)
If this rule still applies in TPS, Snipers might actually be the best choice here…
Dahl Snipers are especially maligned for their ammo wastage, but Nisha will automatically switch target in the middle of a burst, and she is still good from the hip. The best pick would be the slowest possible combination of parts (so that the first bullet has time to kill before the second one is out, so it has time to switch target mid-burst.
Yes, the Pitchfork is a good pick. In purple or Glitched (especially glitched since our choice of parts might lead to a smaller mag size) A Terror (Jakobs barrel) with a Damage prefix and a Jakobs grip would be the best starting point for testing.
(Or with a crit accessory, since
1: anything can crit, so it would also boost grenade damage and Hot Lead if it decides to chain on itself.
And 2: because the Dahl prefix for crit accessory is “night” and a “Night Terror” is a Fantastic name for a gun
)
Edit: boy, do I ever ramble… Longest bathroom break at work, ever. … I’m actually getting paid to write this
I remember that post, It was a long and comprehensive analysis of the overlooked NE guns at that time. This rule still applies in TPS, but I thought only hyperion shotguns don’t obey that rule. It seems all shotguns is the case. Nevertheless shotguns are worth testing, hot lead is so effective, it can neutralize that downside.
NE guns really seems to be the strong point of Nisha. There are lots of guns I would like to test with this setup. But a richochet NE fibber would be the boss of this setup. It is a pity it has not been released yet.
I am gonna try to get that gun with the cool name. I have started to love that gun already now. Glitched or purple should not matter much. Low mag size is an advantage with Mag6.
It would be also an interesting comparison between a NE Pitchfork using this setup vs Matching element Pitchfork against a boss.
Bathrooms are where our imagination is sparked. I hope it will continue to spark for your work like hot lead chains with 11/5 tombstone.
check charrisxs jakobs nisha thread, i think hes done those tests.
non elemental: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5PEPXpaG9Q&feature=youtu.be
matching elemants: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRQCE2f2mDw&feature=youtu.be
not the best comparison, as hot lead would not do full damage on eclipse, but still, a baseline.
